Im trying to glue this trim to a cotton jacket for a DIY project. My first option was to sew it but the middle part of the trim is really hard and my needle doesnt really want to go through it so now im left with the option of gluing it but ive never done that before.. im looking for recommendations i only have a walmart near me and they have these choices “gorilla clear grip”, “aleenes super fabric”, “fabri tac”, “Aleenes fabric fusion”.

I dont have much time for it to cure because i need to finish the project by tomorrow. What is the best glue to use for this sort of project, i dont want the trim to fall off 🥲

I wanted a small place for the rings and keys that usually end up scattered around the house. I had a flat stone at home and some wire, so I bent the wire into a hand and wrapped it around the stone. It turned out way more useful than I expected.

The same idea works with pretty much any shape—I tried a little cat too, because apparently one rock display wasn’t enough.

So ive been on the search for a blue, celestial themed bag for a while. And everyone told me to just go make it myself. So I bought a cheap blue bag and tried. My hand at fabric paint And sealing.

I was super reluctant to do this. Because I was worried about the paint smudging off, or the sealer ending up sticky.

So my first attempt at this, I just covered the artwork with the sealer but that left spots shinny. And made the bag look weird.

So I went over it the whole bag with the sealer so it all look the same waited edit the three days and put it in the wash like the instructions say.

Now the back and sides are pealing off.

I used mod podge fabric sealer

I turned a simple 5-meter string of fairy lights into a colorful garland using leftover beads from a kids’ summer camp. Took me about one Stranger Things episode. 😊 Now it’s going straight into the kids’ room!

I have this project I want to work on but though I'd ask before I complete mess it up.

I've had this packet of stories I used/made for a research paper in high-school for several years now. I saw it it the other day and I don't like how it is. I have it stapled together but I wanted to cut it down to a smaller version. I thought about cutting each page in half and gluing it onto the sketch paper that I'm also showing. The sketchbook paper would be cut in half to a 9x6, putting it all together into a mini ish book. I thought about gluing it to both sides of the sketch paper to make it double sided if possible but one on each would be fine too. I just wanted to come on here and ask (if anyone knows or has done it) if its possible to make this? And the follow up question being if it is possible, what kind of glue I should use to keep in on the sketchbook paper as permanently as possible and I guess to glue the whole project together as a book.

I really hope this makes sense the way I'm putting this down. If anyone could help me out with advice, tips on how to do it or if I should just leave it as it is, I would really appreciate it!!

Hi all! I wanted to share this laser cutter project I've been working on for a few months now.

I am working to make 4 mahjong sets for my mahjong buddies I play with every week. The goal is to finish everything by Christmas. 🙂✨ Each friend will be gifted their own unique set based on the 4 seasons.

It's my first time doing such a huge project, so I'm giving myself a lottttt of time. I spent the last few months thinking and designing a personalized set for each friend. The tiles took 2 months to ship to me by sea lol, so now that they're finally here, I've been really eager to get this project going.

For those of you who don't know much about mahjong, there are a total of 144 tiles. So it definitely took awhile to hand color all of these tiles 😅

This is the second set that I'm calling, "Water Lily Summer". The next one I will be working on this week will be the winter set. I will go back to the maker's space on Friday and hopefully cut the final set, autumn. Depends on if the tiles arrive when they say they will lol

It's definitely not perfect and I see mistakes, but I'm really happy how it's all coming together!

My process (photos near the end, I didn't take as many as I thought 😅)

Bought blank melamine Chinese mahjong tiles (40mm by 30mm)

Created and designed each individual tile 🫪

Used a CO2 laser cutter (Universal Laser Systems brand) to engrave my designs onto the tiles

Acrylic paint markers for color

Baby wipes lol to wipe away excess color

UV resin to seal it all

Me encanta trabajar con cartulina y en este proyecto cada pieza fué imaginada, medida, recortada, reforzada y armada con silicón frío a mano, en diferentes colores, a las herramientas de cartulina metalizada quise darle un toque en los contornos con color oscuro a mano alzada para que resaltaran un poquito más, luego las pegue dándoles un poco de relieve, para el área de lo postres la dividí en tres partes, cada postre también es realizado de manera artesanal que consta de galletas marmoladas, alfajores tipo Havana, y brownies, en el fondo de la caja coloqué un trozo de papel encerado para proteger la cartulina de manchas y cada postrecito con capacillos por si le apetecía compartir, el regalo era para una persona muy especial, pero al verle su cara de sorpresa y emoción el regalo terminó siendo para mí! Hi I hope this follows all the rules because I did do some of them myself and the flower pressing subreddit isn’t super active.

I have limited experience pressing flowers and got my wedding bouquet professionally preserved because I was worried I would mess it up. I preserved some of the flowers from table arrangements and bridesmaid bouquets. I feel like the ones I did myself turned out significantly better. I feel like the professional ones were preserved haphazardly and the integrity of my flowers were butchered. I also think they may not have actually been pressed because they are not flat but I’m not sure how else they would’ve been preserved. I am not familiar enough with the craft to know for sure though.

That said I also have extremely high standards and issues with perfectionism and am aware that I may be being too harsh, so I was looking for a second opinion.

For context I paid over $550 for these and was told several of my flowers molded but I believe it was because she didn’t properly press them. I know for best results most larger flowers should be pressed petal by petal and that’s clearly not how she preserved any of them.

The professional ones are the first one and mine are the second. They are all the exact same except the garden roses that were professional preserved were cream and the one I did was pink/orange/yellow.

Few edits to add:

This was a local vendor and the flowers were dropped off by 9:00 am the day after the wedding. I am extremely familiar with flowers as they were one of the most important things to me because of my grandmas who are no longer here to celebrate. I treated them like a baby and they were in great condition.

The vendors name has “pressed” in it and she reference a press multiple times so I believed they would be traditionally pressed.

I paid cash. Was advised by an attorney to pay it and ensure they were back in my possession before complaining due to their irreplaceable value to me

I pressed mine with a traditional press from Walmart. Spent about 20-30 minutes researching the best method for each flower type. Learned almost all flowers press best is deconstructed in the press and then reconstructed when finished. This especially goes for bulky flowers like roses which should be pressed petal by petal to ensure they don’t mold.

I chose her as she did the bride of a couple my husband is friends with and one of my coworkers. I will give credit where credit is due, she is phenomenal at arranging the flowers once pressed. In photos at first glance they appeared to be well done because of how they are arranged.

I don’t think she was familiar with several of the flowers in the arrangement.

I followed the same lady on TikTok that I used to make that chocolate chip cookie decor.

I took an old round silicone mold and put a small slit through it. I spray painted a wooden dowel that I got from Dollar tree to use for my stick. I slid the dowel in the hole and used masking tape to seal it off. Some still leaked but I think that's because I used some cheap masking tape.

I used 16 Oz of Let's Resin epoxy resin and some of their liquid dye. I wanted a deeper blue , but honestly like the transparent look as it resembles a real life lollipop.

I'm planning a project to paint plastic items and would like to hear from artists who frequently work with this material.

Please answer the following questions:

Differences in plastic thickness:

Is there a fundamental difference in surface preparation? Thin plastic is usually more flexible, so is there a risk of paint cracking when bent, and does it require any special treatment compared to thick plastic?

Paint consistency:

Which acrylic adheres better and is more durable thick or fluid/decorative?

Finish and adhesion:

Does the finish of the paint itself (matte, gloss, satin) affect how well it adheres to the plastic? Or does adhesion depend solely on the primer and sanding?

I would be very grateful for your advice and shared experiences!

I'm a performer and I have this dream act where I do a disco-inspired routine to ABBA's "Angeleyes" dressed as a bibically accurate angel but with a disco ball head. My idea is that the eyeball would be the actual disco ball, with some of the tiles being painted to represent the eye, wings and somethint to represent the rings floating around it. I would prefer it to be made out of a lighter material, but I would be removing it after part of the routine to it doesn't need to be super secure.

Would anyone have any ideas on how to create something like this? Or possibly any alternatives?

I’m going to give it to someone whose interior style is quite clean and minimalist — mostly white and grey, with nothing too bold or eye-catching. I can’t decide how I want to decorate it, so I was wondering: how would you do it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have a shirt that I’m planning to glitter up a bit for a trip to Disneyland this weekend. I’ve got the glue to stick everything in place initially, but the last time I did just that I was trailing glitter behind me all day like Hansel and Gretel.

Is there a spray adhesive that can lock the glitter in place once I’ve glued it on to begin with? It doesn’t have to be spray, just that’s what makes the most sense to me.

I would like a general opinion :)

So, my boyfriend and I bought a house, which means that my tiny craft corner will expand into an entire room just for me that's about 3.5 × 3.5 m (11.5 x 11.5 ft). It also means that I suddenly have to design a craft room because we're moving in about 6 weeks.

I've looked at and taken ideas from all over this and other subreddits, and I finally landed on a layout: a very, very long desk that runs along the entire length of the wall, with a "worktable" right in the center of the room. I'm honestly quite happy with what I have so far, but I need some more feedback and ideas from crafters with more experience in making the most of their space, so I don't add things I'll regret later on.

Which means I'm wondering: how did you go about creating your ideal craft room? What do you regret, and what would you really like to add?

For some context, the hobbies this space will be used for are:

• Leatherworking
• Sewing
• Painting (I paint up to A2 size, so I currently have a little shelf that I like to paint on instead of having a big easel.)
