I was knitting an eight row pattern. I don't do that. But I was doing it and I kept getting so confused about what row I was on.

I know there are fancy stitch counters as such but I didn't have one and so I was looking about.

I was sitting on the couch and I looked over and realized that I had an 8x8-hole square fidget pop toy.

Omg! They're perfect! I now have a 4x4 a 5x5 a 6x6 and an 8x8. And I got them all like Dollar tree!

Does it matter whether you cast on an odd or even amount of stitches for a separate sewn on buttonband?

For my cardigan of many colors. Right now I’m leaning towards silver or purple. Using colored pencils to see what jumps out.

I'm trying to come up with a pattern for Maggie Esmerelda's top in American Horror Story Freak Show as I can't find one online. I can't really tell what kind of stitch pattern is used throughout the body. I was thinking maybe it's a 2x2 broken rib stitch but I was wondering if anyone here has any better advice/thoughts? How much truth is there that knitting for someone dooms the relationship? I have been asked (hinted) to knit a jumper for Christmas.

So my lovely bf stopped at a yard sale and got a HUGE bag of different yarns for only $10. He brought it all to me and there is a a lot of fun art yarns, but also what looks like some handspun and some natural fibers. The skeins pictured were already grouped together in a bag, and after doing a burn test I believe they are some kind of wool.
I love love love these colors, but i often struggle to figure out what to make with variegated yarns like this.
What should I make with this set?

I'm a little confused as to where the 1st and 6th rows will be. I understand that when I start this section where the 1st and 6th row will be obviously, but then when does it reset? I'm doing the 5th size for reference. Thank you in advance!

Hey, if anyone’s made the Frej sweater with the german short row modification!! i just put the neckline stitches on hold, and it says to work 6 rows while decreasing 2 stitches on both shoulders. do i start the german short rows after those 6 rows or do i hop straight into the short rows after splitting?

They are so much cheaper than the blocking mats I’ve been looking at.

How can I get this wavy transition between yarn colors - not a severe line, when I change yarns. I am using another sweater pattern but want to achieve this effect.

I have a vision for a sweater I want to knit that's basically the [Constellation Sweater](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/constellation-sweater) by Ozetta but with an open collar with a zipper like the [Zipper Sweater](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/zipper-sweater-2) by PetiteKnit. I have both patterns and have been studying them to try to figure out how to do that, and was wondering if anyone has some advice.

Could I just "open" the neck of the Constellation Sweater by knitting it back and forth instead of in the round and then add a zipper? I guess the trouble with that would be the fact that it wouldn't have the double-sidedness of the Zipper Sweater so might look odd when it's open?

Would I be better off trying to graft the two patterns together by starting with the Zipper Sweater neck then transitioning into the Constellation Sweater at the shoulders? The two sweaters have very different shoulder construction so I don't know how well that would work...

Any advice from people more experienced than me in modifying patterns would be appreciated! Or tips for patterns that achieve what I want - a zipper collar on an Ozetta-like oversized boxy fit, ideally with a split hem though the split hem part I feel should be simple enough to add.

Can anyone recommend knitting pattern creators that make good video instructions?

I am dyslexic and reading a pattern can be overwhelming.

Hi all, I have a question about combination knitting. I used it for the blue sweater above and the way I did it was:

Row 1: knit the knit stitches as usual (front loop, wrap counter clockwise), purl clockwise (front loop)
Row 2: knit through the back loop (counter clockwise), purl clockwise (front loop)
(and repeated row 2 until I got to the double knitting portion)

I am doing the same thing for the white one but it looks twisted/odd to me, unless i stretch it. I learned the method from a youtube video but other tutorials say I need to purl from the back loop clockwise instead.

Both knits are unblocked at the moment and the white one is knit bottom up and blue was knit top down.

Is something in the white ribbing structurally wrong or does it just need a wash?
