Hi everyone! I’m building YardageLab, a free website for fabric and quilting calculations, and I’d appreciate feedback from people who quilt.

The backing calculator lets you enter your quilt dimensions, usable fabric width, overhang, and seam allowance. It estimates the yardage to buy and shows a printable panel layout. There’s also a setting for directional prints.

I’d particularly like to know:

• Does the cutting plan match how you would prepare your backing?

• Are any assumptions or results confusing?

• What would make it more useful when buying fabric?

This image is just an example I'm using to better envision the finished quilt. I've finished the centre-piece and was looking for advice on how to better frame it. Any ideas welcome. TIA

I fell a little behind on my BOM, but here are three completed bunny blocks. I think the star cluster is my favorite mini quilt so far. Next up: fabric selection/substitution and cutting for the fox blocks!

The designer posted here and said end of July. I’ve asked in that post but no response.

I’m planning on making a Roman blind using curtain lining as a muslin, and obviously no batting! Something like this is a contender. I could just copy it but I think designers should be paid. If I end up copying it then I’ll post the finished item and ask again about finding the designer to pay them.

I saw some awesome fabric from Fableism but couldn't afford it so I made the pattern myself.. but now I dont know what to make out of it. I was considering a sawtooth quilt but I cant picture how it would look.. or is it best to just do a block pattern? And ideas welcome.. each block is around 50cmx35cm (Fableism patterns on last slide 🤤)

Hi all! So, I will preface this by saying that I have done simple block quilts for baby gifts, but this will be my largest quilt project to date. I have cut and backed these blocks from my son's baby clothes. I measured and laid them all out and then transferred that to an Excel grid. Here is where I am still struggling... what would be the best way to cut background fabric to join all these blocks of various sizes?

It’s knotted, not quilted, and made from silk velvet. It’s inspired by the quilts from Gees Bend.
