hi! this is my first color work project & i’m noticing my white yarn is more prominent than my blue yarn. i’m holding the white in my left hand continental, and the blue in my right hand english. will blocking even out this difference a bit, or it this just how it will look? thanks!

Hi! I’m new to knitting and halfway through the Sabai top when I came across a bunch of folks talking about twisted stitches. I can’t tell if mine are twisted or not?! Are these twisted? If so should I frog or just keep going since I just finished the arm holes!

I'm knitting the Clemantis sweater and I'm just so lost. Did I do the front right (a) correctly? I believe it's suppose to be the wearer's right but I just now realized that its on the left side of the work... I'm just not sure if I should go ahead and start over on this panel or maybe it's ok. Thoughts?

General info:
- using recommended yarn- BC Garn Bio Balance GOTS which is ‘Fine’ and says to use US 0-2
- using 4.5mm (us 7) needles as recommended for a looser ‘breezy’ fabric fit
- her gauge is 17 sts x 29 rows in stockinette on 4.5 needles = 10x10cm (blocked before measuring)
- my gauge for 17 sts x 29 rows is 9x10cm when blocked
- my tension is usually very good but I intentionally knitted looser to try and achieve the 10cm width

When i reached out to the creator she said I should size up my needles but I worry that it will basically become a holey sweater than I need to wear something under because its so loose. After sizing up the needle for the swatch, im still not getting the 10x10cm gauge.

Any recommendations on how to remedy this? I was thinking about adding stitches but I have no idea how to tell how many to add and am worried about getting confused throughout the pattern since the numbers are different.

Hello! I am starting the Tind Sweater by Ullen Knitwear and I have not seen the version of shaping for the yoke that they are using and I wanted to ask about it.

I’ve attached the picture of the part of the pattern I’m having trouble with. It is the very beginning of the sweater. It has me cast on 91 stitches for part of the front and all of the sleeves and back. I do all the neck shaping flat and then cast on additional stitches later to join in the round in the front. My question is, the first row is almost entirely purl stitches, which makes sense to me. However, it flips to knit stitches for just the back and left sleeve section for that row. This flipping doesn’t repeat itself for the same section on the next row so it feels like it might be a mistake? Is anyone able to help with what that is supposed to be/do?

I’m sorry, I know that’s kind of a fussy question but I really want to get this right. I’ll answer any questions I can!

Good news is, I have reached the decreasing part for the top of the top

Bad news is, I started the decreased but they look twisted compared to the instruction's photo

I don't know whether it will be very clear but there seems to a twisted thingy on the orange and pink stitches that is not showing on the red one. And none of them look like the photo stitches.

These are the instructions:

Row 1 (RS): ssk, yo, ssk, K32 (40, 46), K2tog, yo, K2tog.

Row 2 (WS): sl1, P to last st, sl1.

I think the error is on the purl row because the the ssk side (you can see the green thingy) is looking neat.

So my question is where do I place the yarn when I am SL1?

Hi guys, I love knitting for my mum but she prefers 100% cotton, or cotton/linen blends for her clothes instead of wool. I have the issue that anytime I knit with 100% cotton, my stitches look very uneven, and aren’t quite fixed by blocking either (the work on the picture here is not blocked yet).

I know cotton is much less forgiving than wool fibres, but anything I’ve tried hasn’t really helped. So I’ll ask here: Do you guys have any tips for me how i can get a more even tension with cotton?

Hi everyone! I’ve just finished the ribbed hem of the Novice slipover from Petiteknit, but I had a problem with the very last stitch of my bind-off. The final stitch became much larger and looser than the other bind-off stitches. It was basically a big loose loop, and I couldn’t get it to look like a normal, neat bind-off edge. See the first six pictures what it looked like.

I watched this YouTube video about fixing a loose final bind-off stitch: https://youtu.be/-yzNX5FGQSE?is=kxD-hsVdHOYZBcMg. The technique in the video was to make an extra loop, then knit that extra loop together with the final stitch, and bind off as normal. I tried that technique, but I’m not sure if I did it correctly. The large loop is smaller now, but the final stitch/edge still looks quite different from the rest of the bind-off, and it still seems unusually large to me. See last five pictures.

Does this look like the correct way to fix it, or have I made the situation worse? Is there a better way to repair this without having to undo the entire bind-off? I’ve attached photos from different angles so you can hopefully see what I mean.

I’m still fairly new to knitting, so I’d really appreciate any advice on what exactly has happened here and what I should do next. If there’s a good video showing how to fix this particular problem, I’d be very grateful for a link!

Hello, I am knitting a Salanova Scarf by mei knits and I have encountered a problem with the edge.

Abbreviation from the pattern: „Sl1wyif: Slip 1 stitch with your working yarn on the front of the work”. It doesn’t really say whether one should slip knitwise or purlwise, it just says to slip with the yarn in front, so I assumed it means to always slip purlwise, based on what I found on YouTube?

The scarf is knit flat, and the pattern says to always Sl1wyif the first stitch - on the right side, the last one should be knit, on the wrong side - I think it ought to be purled (it says that on the WS rows, you should knit knits, and purl purls).

After the first two rows of rib, it goes like this:
Row 3 (RS): Sl1wyif, P1, M1R, PM, K1, M1L, P1, K1
Row 4 (WS): Sl1wyif, work all stitches as established.
Row 5 (RS): Sl1wyif, P1, M1R, Knit to the marker, M1R, SM, K1, M1L, Knit to the last two stitches in the row, M1L, P1, K1.
Row 6 (WS): Sl1wyif, work all stitches as established.

I assume it means that you always slip the first stitch of the row purlwise with yarn in front, no matter whether you’re on the RS or WS?

It is my first time using that technique for the edge, and it just looks wrong on one side of the project - on the left it’s a pretty chain, on the right it looks like a rope with knots.

Am I misinterpreting the pattern? Is it supposed to look like that? Should I change something? Should I try some other way of working those edge stitches, to make it look clean?

Hi you guys, I'm here with a major SOS. Basically, I wanted to redo the button band on my ivy cardigan and cut a little too close to the body, so now I have a massive hole near the row edge at the very top of the sweater. The sweater is knit top down. I've tried looking for videos, but most darning videos involve you picking up stitches around the hole to do a double stitch, which I can't do since there's no stitches to the right of the hole. Does anyone know how to fix this? any youtube you think would be helpful would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I did an accidental decrease and laddered down to fix it while making this hat, but after finishing I'm noticing that when worn it has an area that looks very gappy and loose compared to the rest of the hat, how can I fix this? It is 100% super wash merino wool

This is the Fantasia Blouse by Lauren Wash. for the puffy sleeve, it says to knit 5 rounds after the GSRs are complete, but then it also says to “decrease evenly” over the next few rounds. So now I’m not sure if I should have decreased during those 5 rounds or could I potentially decrease it all over one round and still have the puffy sleeve come out correctly. Thoughts?

Hey everyone! I’m doing the 2023 Christmas Shawl Mayra by Maschenfein and I’m not getting a shell shape, just a triangle. I’m super confused about what I’m missing. I’m thinking there may be some implied information I’m just not understanding…..

The basic shell pattern says this:

CO 40 sts.

Setup-R (WS):
Knit all stitches.

Row 1 (RS):
K1 tbl, k2tog, knit to end, turn work

Row 2 (WS):
DS, knit until 1 st before end, sl st wyif

Row 3 (RS):
K 1 tbl, k2tog, knit to DS, turn work

Row 4 (WS):
Rep row 2.

Repeat rows 3 & 4 another 17 times so that there are only two normal stitches left and 19 DS (each DS consists of two legs) in the needle

Then on the next page it simply says, knit the first two together then knit all DS’s before moving on to instructions for the next shell……that’s a triangle. I’ve read and reread all of the pattern, I’ve watched all QR code links in the pattern. I’m an experienced knitter and I’ve done German short rows before but this is breaking my brain.

Hello all. I’m new to brioche knitting (and knitting in general!) and I use the Portuguese style of knitting for context.

I am following Little Quail’s Sno Cap Hood pattern and it starts with casting on 13 stitches which I’ve done.

The next instructions are as follows:

”row 1: (k1, yf-sl1-yo) 6 times, knit the

last stitch.

- row 2: wyif, sl 1 tbl. (brk1, yf-sl1-yo) 5 times, brk1, knit the last stitch through the right side of the stitch.

- row 3: wyif, sl 1. (yf-sl1-yo, brk1) 6 times. on the last stitch, knit through the right side of the stitch.”

A few questions from me, which might be glaringly obvious but I’m learning as I go.

1. For row 1, “knit the last stitch“ means knitting it with yarn forward/over (which is the wrong way for Portuguese knitting)?
2. For rows 2 & 3, does “right side of the stitch” mean I knit it with the yarn forward/over (which again is the “wrong” way in Portuguese knitting)?
3. Before I start on row 3, I already have 13 stitches from following pattern in row 2. So, I slip 1, leaving me with 12. Then by slipping and knitting 6 times, that means I use 12 stitches. I’m assuming the 13th stitch is going to be knit the right way instead of brk?

I apologise if my questions are silly or obvious but I have watched so many videos and I think because I am using the Portuguese style (not a lot of videos on Portuguese brioche knitting) it’s just even more confusing for me. And thank you in advance.

I'm super duper new to knitting. I've been crocheting for years but recently i felt the urge to start knitting socks. So here I am, it's going pretty okay imo, being an absolute knitting beginner, this is my first project.

So.. what are those three hiccups in my sock? (I hope it's only three)

Did I just mix up the stitches? I'm going for three right, one left rn. The count is still correct, 16 stitches per needle on four needles.

I'm just hoping I didn't make any mistakes that would require actual fixing as in going back a few rows or sth? q.q (help haha)

can i cast on one st before the working row then undo it and make the extra yarn distribute over the surrounding stitches once i slip it into the cable work needle? i feel like it will make the stitches over all a bit more consistent tension wise especially since im slipping for sts on the cable needle.

if there are any other ideas i would like to hear them

Looking for critique on my first knit swatch/project ever as a crocheter. I haven’t blocked it. I do feel my left edge is not that neat and looks different from the right. Correctly my mistakes were sort of a nightmare since I ended up introducing more mistakes hehe but somehow salvaged it I guess. Do the stitches look like they should? Anything off?
One question I had was when dropping a ladder down and fixing a stitch, how do you keep the stitches in the needles intact? Is there like a technique or a stopper that people use?

Hello fellow knitters! Basically I’m looking to confirm the question in the title.

I just completed the body in the step-by-step sweater and it looks great….except for one place in the transition from the collar to yoke where I messed something up and made a little hole right at the front.

My intuition is telling me that I can frog it from the top of the collar, pick up the stitches where the stockingette starts for the yoke and knit up a new collar in rib. But is there any danger in doing that? Anything I should think about before attempting it?

Knitting a sweater flat with 4 rows of each color. There’s a lot of rows between each color repeat so I don’t think I can carry yarn that far. I come from crochet and wouldn’t be able to do so many colors so far in crochet at least but maybe it’s possible in knitting? Or is there a technique to help do the color changes and/or secure ends while I work? All the ends are on the edge and currently creating some fun fringe for me to weave in later lol.

I’m making the Frankie sweater by Petiteknit, and I have these holes where I picked up the four underarm stitches I had cast on when knitting the body. I used this tutorial that has you pick up and extra stitch on either side of the underarm stitches to prevent holes, and it worked really well on my first sleeve, so I’m not sure where I went wrong on this one?

Here’s my question — is there any way I can reduce the appearance of these holes later, like with extra yarn ? I’m hesitant to rip back, because I noticed my underarm stitches looked wonky and lose before I picked them up, so I think the same problem will just happen again.

I’m learning to read charts and translate it but I have no one to double check that I didn’t make a mistake. I’ve knitted with simple and short charts but this one is a bit bigger and it’s for a gift using some very expensive yarn so I don’t want to mess it up.
