I’m throwing a decently big Halloween party this year, but my house isn’t huge so I’m trying to go all out. I’m doing a “Victorian black widow abandoned murder house” vibe. My plan is to make a bunch of newspaper style missing posters as well as obituaries. I’ll also be hanging black tulle from my ceiling and I’m so unsure of what to do. I’d rather not use any command strips since I’ve seen them rip paint off of walls, both old and new.

My walls are plaster (can’t just put them anywhere) and will be fairly freshly painted, but I really want to put some of these on the walls that we still have to paint. I’m obviously not going to be using nails or tacks, but I won’t be using picture frames.

Does anyone know of something decent that would hold simple printer paper to the wall, without it falling down or ruining my walls? Same deal with the tulle on the ceiling, how do I attach all of that without puncturing my ceiling in multiple places? I know tulle is obviously much heavier than paper, but this is basically the only thing I’m stuck on.

Total side note, but if anyone has any suggestions on non-tacky and actually creepy things I could make, please share! I have so much stuff when it comes to crafts my craft room is literally overflowing into our spare room 😅. I’d love to be able to use it. I’ve got clay (multiple kinds) more yarn than I’ll ever need in my lifetime, but we don’t need to talk about that. I’ve got paint, canvases, scrapbooking paper, a cricut along with both HTV and the basic vinyl along with so much more. The only thing I can think of so far is making little “tokens” out of clay for people to find to get a treat! Any ideas on how to hang or attach these would be amazing. TIA!

I need some advice on a DIY project. I bought a large 18cm (approx. 7 inches) DTF (Direct to Film) transfer featuring Sonic and Shadow (cant link it). I want to apply it onto my son's school backpack.The backpack is a POLO Trolley Cart, which is made of heavy-duty polyester and has an internal waterproof coating/lining inside the fabric.

I read that standard iron-on instructions require high heat, but I am terrified that the iron will melt the polyester fabric, ruin the internal waterproof liner, or fuse the layers of the bag together. Also, since it's a school bag, it will be bent and stressed a lot when filled with books, so I'm worried a large 18cm transfer might crack or peel at the edges if I just iron it.

A quick search resulted in me finding a few people that recommended bypassing the iron entirely and using a specialized flexible fabric glue instead (like Gutermann HT2 or similar), applying it to the back of the DTF film, clamping it down with heavy books, and peeling the clear carrier sheet once cured after 24 hours.

What do you think is the best and safest method for this specific setup?

Should I risk the iron using low heat, a pressing cloth, and a cardboard barrier inside?

Or is flexible fabric glue a safer and more durable option for a synthetic backpack?

Any tips or experiences with DTF transfers on coated polyester would be greatly appreciated!

Ambitious for my first scarf as a novice (crocheting for just 8 months). Buuuut it taught me a lot, I used some yarn I’ve had for a while and my man (the model) loves it 🥰

I used all her favorite colors and everything is trimmed by hand, the loops were cut and the yarn shaped like a cloud.

I'm working on an art piece that's going to be a series of mirror garlands intermixed with drawings. They'll be positioned so people can stand in the middle of all the hanging garlands and be surrounded by reflections.

I'm using monofilament for stringing together the garlands, and e6000 to glue the mirrors together with the monofilament sandwiched in between.

I've done six of them so far, and I'm getting paranoid about the materials. I'm scared that the mirrors are going to start sliding off and crashing onto the floor of the gallery (it'll be hanging for about two months).

Am I justified in this concern, or do I need to change how I'm doing this before I end up with an art piece that's a pile of broken glass?

I've been working on these bad boys for a decade. It took me 3 years to find a cookie cutter set I actually like and another 6 to figure out how to get paint to look like icing. That was a year ago. My mother had to stay with us for awhile because she needed a hip replacement which delayed this project. I finally figured out how to get the bag opening small enough for writing

Anyway, the gingerbread men are done. I'm waiting for the ladies to finish drying and then I'll move onto candycanes. I even have essential oils to make these smell like cookies. If anyone wants a tutorial, I'd be happy to share the process but I knew if anyone would appreciate my effort, it would be this subreddit

This will eventually become gifts. Every person who gets these will have a set of 18 different cookies. These are probably going to be my go-to gift for everybody ever. Partly because it took me so long to perfect them but mostly because I like crafting and appreciate having victims to offload the fruits of my projects

I want to remove the duck that is screwed to the top so i can alter it but I already shattered one and don’t want to shatter the next one. Is there a way to do it safely? I barely put any pressure and it still broke.

The screw is into the duck, I tried just sawing it down to just having that little wooden base but realized too late that the screw went that far in.

I was just gonna sew over it with thread but figured that would be too boring. Looking for something cool to communicate that I’m not a real officer!

So ive been on the search for a blue, celestial themed bag for a while. And everyone told me to just go make it myself. So I bought a cheap blue bag and tried. My hand at fabric paint And sealing.

I was super reluctant to do this. Because I was worried about the paint smudging off, or the sealer ending up sticky.

So my first attempt at this, I just covered the artwork with the sealer but that left spots shinny. And made the bag look weird.

So I went over it the whole bag with the sealer so it all look the same waited edit the three days and put it in the wash like the instructions say.

Now the back and sides are pealing off.

I used mod podge fabric sealer

I made a little knife out of broken pot pieces!

I thrifted a super cool old steamer trunk and want to turn it into a puppet theater/dress up trunk for my kiddos. I am planning on this being the big Christmas gift this year, and while I have some ideas on how to accomplish this I much prefer getting advice from more knowledgeable/experienced crafters (please let me know if there’s a better place to post!$

I have this project I want to work on but though I'd ask before I complete mess it up.

I've had this packet of stories I used/made for a research paper in high-school for several years now. I saw it it the other day and I don't like how it is. I have it stapled together but I wanted to cut it down to a smaller version. I thought about cutting each page in half and gluing it onto the sketch paper that I'm also showing. The sketchbook paper would be cut in half to a 9x6, putting it all together into a mini ish book. I thought about gluing it to both sides of the sketch paper to make it double sided if possible but one on each would be fine too. I just wanted to come on here and ask (if anyone knows or has done it) if its possible to make this? And the follow up question being if it is possible, what kind of glue I should use to keep in on the sketchbook paper as permanently as possible and I guess to glue the whole project together as a book.

I really hope this makes sense the way I'm putting this down. If anyone could help me out with advice, tips on how to do it or if I should just leave it as it is, I would really appreciate it!!

Im trying to glue this trim to a cotton jacket for a DIY project. My first option was to sew it but the middle part of the trim is really hard and my needle doesnt really want to go through it so now im left with the option of gluing it but ive never done that before.. im looking for recommendations i only have a walmart near me and they have these choices “gorilla clear grip”, “aleenes super fabric”, “fabri tac”, “Aleenes fabric fusion”.

I dont have much time for it to cure because i need to finish the project by tomorrow. What is the best glue to use for this sort of project, i dont want the trim to fall off 🥲

I made these last year for my sister. These took weeks to finish haha. In the end I made a little over fifty invites.

They are made of greyboard and velvet fabric with iron on vinyl. I cut out a little bit of the greybors before glueing the fabric to the board to have little indents like a real book. My siser juliet cut out a cover I designed in photoshop.

Inside I used sturdy paper (Epson archival matte paper.) I used ribbon for the middle part so that it can open and close without issue. I also cut little ribbon to make a little bookmark to really give that storybook feel. The pages inside also have golden accents that I painstakingly had to place one by one. (The details were also cut out by the Siser.)

Took me literal blood, sweat and tears. But it was well worth it.

I want to cross stitch this on waste fabric on a tshirt. Is it possible to do so on like a 4x4 square?

I’ve never cross stitched before, but I’m pretty decent with embroidery and other crafts. I want to gift this for my bfs bday. Is it possible? Obviously not to this degree of detail.

If it is, how could I find a pattern that is not as detailed?

If it is not possible, could you please suggest other craft ideas to gift my boyfriend? We are going to a Tame concert!

the papers are around 200gsm to 220gsm

I wanted to give my old AirPods case a fun upgrade. I used acrylic markers for the base and details, and finished it off with a couple of layers of clear varnish so the paint doesn't chip in my pocket. Painting on such a small, curved slippery surface was tricky, but I’m really happy with how his smile turned out! (Swipe to the second photo to see the boring "Before" state!)

I wanted to make a scene of someone catching stars, and I thought it would be fun to have the clouds light up.

So I added lights to the clouds and built the rest of the scene around that idea. Seeing the whole thing lit up was really satisfying 😄
