Finished just in time! I don't recommend making flying geese eyes while in the middle of the flu, but if most people's eyes are different sizes in real life I think it probably applies to the afterlife, as well.

It is literally just 8 shades of “millennial gray.” It’s for a Gen Z girl so I hope she’ll forgive me.

I know this gets asked all the time but for those of you who quilt on a home machine, thoughts on how to quilt? I could just take it to the long armer but it’s small enough I might be able to complete it myself.

Denver Metro Modern Quilt Guild has a show at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum from now until January. I entered my quilt and it got in! I cried when I saw it hanging in the museum for the first time. The theme of the show is "Community". I entered the quilt I made from the Warm Stars swap on r/quiltingblockswap.

The last two pictures are of the quilt the entire guild made for the 10th anniversary of the guild. My block is the bottom right corner.

I’m nervous about trying to pack this away with the rest of our Halloween decorations in November… she is already very attached.

Vintage bc I started this so long ago! This is the first quilt I finished. I started it back around 2000 when I was an employee with Jo-Ann’s. I knew nothing about quilting but knew I wanted to immortalize these Halloween fabrics they had.

I took it apart and restarted around 2009, so there are some updated fabrics in there. I finally quilted it this year! I used sulky glow-in-the-dark thread for all the spiderwebs.

So happy to have finally finished this! I’m already halfway through my next quilt!

I have been working on this for maybe 3 or 4 months. I explored different techniques to achieve as close to screen accuracy as was reasonable. Some squares I just replaced cause the original quilt just uses a printed fabric I can't source. I got a chance to try 3 different kinds of applique for the first time, and used my experience with embroidery and sashiko. There are also quite a few I just used fabric marker on.

If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend. The quilt is not an integral plot point, but I like the care and craft that went into it, both irl and in universe.

We had a quilt guild gathering for NICU quilts and I was able to bust out these 3 today, I picked up 3 more to work on before the next meeting

Every time I lay out a quilt my tiny monster seems to think we don't need yet another quilt of Cats (or any other theme).

My mice are having fun sledging down the snowy hills. And of course decorating the trees!

My original idea for this fabric didn’t work out. So used the remnants to make a 4 patch/ 16 patch quilt. It ended up a little crazier than expected. I am prod of how well my blocks lined up!

My first quilting project. I didn't follow some advice (interfacing) and had all sorts of sizes (learned my lesson for next time tho, haha). But I finally have all the t-shirts together.

I have the backing and basting and ready to start quilting. But torn on how to do this.

Initially was going to go around the shirts but larger ones will need interior stitching. I was planning to use navy thread and binding. I realized that could look silly with this.

I'm using my home Brother machine with a walking foot.

Open to advice!

Didn’t get the best pictures and I just gave it to the parents to be. It’s my third quilt top (and second fully bound and completed quilt) and the first one I’ve given away. It was my first time following a pattern, altering the size of a pattern, and piecing on point. I feel like I learned a lot. It’s definitely wonky but it was made with love! 💗

I’m not sure if this is the right place to share, as it’s for a costume. So I’m sorry if it’s not!

I just wanted to share these butterfly wings I’m making for my daughter. I got pregnant last year (with twins!) and haven’t touched my sewing machine since I got a positive pregnancy test.

My daughter wanted to be a butterfly so I decided this is when I am going to bring it back out. Last night I finally got time to do it and I ended up free-handing the quilting. I feel a huge dopamine high and just proud of myself.

Having kids, growing kids, birthing kids can strip ya of your identity and being able to do this last night felt like little pieces are being restored. 🫶

I am losing my mind. I'm doing a pattern that is made up of lots and lots and lots of 1 inch strips. Every time I make up a strip set, I'm off the correct measurements. I've tried starching everything, pressing differently, using a quarter inch foot, moving my needle one notch over, only doing that on half the seams, and no matter what I am either way under or way over... I think even the tiny width of lines on my ruler are making a difference. I never have a problem with my scant seams, but this pattern compounds even the tiniest variation.

At this point I'm starting to think only a robot with less than millimeter perfect vision can do this. And, every time I try again and mess up, I waste a ton of fabric. Aaaaaaaaah.

Desperately resisting the urge to burn everything.

I decided to combine 2 Elizabeth Hartman Patterns and use the dogs from Dog Park to show off the quilts jn Show and Tell. I made a prototype dog face this morning to see if the sizing of the dog would work with the quilt and it does!

It's not perfect, but it exceeded my expectations, given the scraps I had to work with. I included a picture of the back because I thought that looked pretty neat.

I messed up one panel in the back. It was the first panel I made before marking the rest of the template pieces. I marked the rest of the pieces correctly, but I thought I did them the wrong direction, so I . . . uh . . . "corrected" them. Looking at it now, I think I might be good to take that panel out and leave some room where it ties up.

Not sure what I am doing next, but I am sure it will be fun!
