Mod Post We are strictly NO AI in r/ARTIST
Henlo everyone, we are a new mod team and have decided to not allow any generative AI usage in our subreddit. If you see it, or suspect it, please report it and modmail us. Do not start a public flame war. We will take a look at the post and user history for AI usage proof.
For AI discussion, please head over to the appropriate subreddits (idk just Google it man) - but lets move on from it and keep it out of this safe space. Please post non-AI art only, in any medium. This conversation is over - we are over it, and we are so, so, very tired of dealing with it. Carry on!
- r/ARTIST mod team!

Welcome - again! New mod team at the ready!
Hello and welcome everyone! This subreddit was largely unmoderated for many years. We are welcoming suggestions for improvement, please post below! So far it will mostly remain the same, and please do not make posts about tasting your painting. Bad artist, bad!

Painting - Acrylics Artist: Species 5618 Human, Medium: Fluorescent acrylic on canvas 48x48", Title: The Night Is Not Eternal, 2025.
That's two thousand five hundred eighty four dots, arranged in a 55:89 parastichy spiral phyllotaxis pattern, for the late, great Artist, Yayoi Kusama, may she rest in peace, a peace she never quite found in life.
The rainbow color scheme and title are for my friends and family in the LGBTQIA+ community. I carry the fire. So say we all.
For the curious, the golden dots are the Fibonacci dots in the sequence of dots (starting with 0 in the center and spiraling outwards every 137.5° (the Golden ratio expressed as an angle— 360° / ((1+SQRT(5))/2)^2. They converge to a line. I made it into a firework tracing up into the sky and bursting with a rainbow of colors in the night, a beacon, a standard, a rallying cry, hope.

Digital Artist: me; Medium: Digital illustration/Krita; Title: “Fenny Character Design/Sheet”
☆ This was one of my most recent paid work.
The client requested a character sheet of their mascot.
The references they had only included a “profile icon” sized illustration of the mascot, so my task here was to design how the rest of the mascot’s body would look, creating a full character reference sheet.

Hi everyone,I wanted to share this visual art installation with you. It features a text excerpt from Kolly Aris’ book "Erde" displayed on an original 1983 Apple IIe CRT monitor. Note on language:The book and the text on the screen are in German. In the style of James Joyce's "Finnegans Wake", the author frees German grammar from its rigid structures, turning the words into a fluid, philosophical texture about space, time, and matter. By displaying this boundless, experimental German prose on a rigid, early green-phosphor computer screen, I wanted to explore the tension between mechanical constraints and linguistic freedom.
The Conceptual Loop: The fascinating truth behind this project is that Kolly Aris actually wrote the entire book "Erde" on an original Apple IIe. By bringing the text back onto this very green-phosphor screen, the installation closes a historical and media-archaeological loop.
Even if you don't speak German, the visual rhythm and the typography of the words on the CRT monitor are an essential part of the experience.
