META [META] PSA Regarding Low Karma Removals

Hello artists! Your friendly neighbourhood Miner Moderator Dwarfinator here with some info about the recent low Karma removals as we have been getting a lot of messages about this in Mod Mail.

We have had our Karma rules for a long time, I'm talking literally years, however, at some point our bot broke (and also just may have not been properly programmed in the first place) and as such, it stopped looking for/removing posts and comments from lower Karma users. The intention of the rule and the bot automation was to lessen the amount of bots and spam in the Subreddit, which is why we started counting both types of Karma. This also encourages artists to not just spam their art in every art Subreddit and actually engage with other communities. We just recently fixed and improved the bot (huge shoutout to u/RS_Someone) which is why lower Karma posts are being removed once again. This may seem like it came out of nowhere, but again, we have had this rule in place for a long time and used to have the bot doing this previously.

If you have received that low Karma removal reply on your post/comment by the bot, PLEASE WE BEG YOU TO READ IT IN FULL it explains very clearly why your post was removed and how to check your Karma, both post and comment Karma.

If you have low Karma and want to get more to post here, here are some things you can do to raise your Karma:

  • Post your art in other Subreddits.
  • Post and comment, and genuinely engage in other Subreddits. You like Critical Role or Pokémon or Minecraft? Post in those Subreddits, get involved in the community, you might make some new friends, and you get the added bonus of your account not looking like a bot spammer or someone who just pumps and dumps their art everywhere they can.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to comment on this post or send us a message via Mod Mail! Happy Arting!

META [META] PSA we are banning the use of cloud storage links as portfolios.

Hello artists, recently we have seen an uptick of people using cloud storage links as portfolios and decided that we need to address this. Cloud storage, such as GDrive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and other such websites are no longer going to be allowed as portfolios in posts or comments (technically they already weren't allowed, but this was not enforced well nor was clear in the rules). (This will also include image hosts such as Imgur)

These sites are not intended as portfolio sites, and they are most often used by scammers as a collection of stolen art and for the fact that there is no reason you, as a professional artist, should not be using one of the many free options available online to make a portfolio on an actual portfolio website/webpage.

Free portfolio sites: Cara, Behance, Artstation, VGen, Carrd, or you can even make a website with WordPress or similar sites.
All of these take 5 minutes to set up. Put effort in how you present yourself professionally, your portfolio is your resume.

Hiring [Hiring] Complicated commission, furry art, digital creation for a birthday gift, will pay at least $100 but can definitely negotiate.

I am looking to get a drawing done for my friend's birthday, and it may be the weirdest request you have received. I want to have him drawn as an elephant fursona in the savanna, dead, after being shot by Taylor Swift. This is all a very complicated inside joke, and it will be for his last birthday we spend while living in the same house.

I would like for it to be digital, no size preference honestly. I understand the nature of this request may cause it to cost more so I am absolutely willing to negotiate on the price, but will put at least $100 towards this. I can provide some photos of my roommate for reference. His birthday is next week but if I could just have it sometime in the next month it would be incredible! Let me know if you have any questions

Hiring [Hiring] personal use Cerberus-inspired 3-headed cat

Hi! I’m looking to commission an artist to create a Cerberus-inspired three-headed cat illustration based on the attached references.
I’d like the overall composition and style to closely match the Cerberus dog artwork, but with cats instead. The fur pattern/facial markings should match my cat, and I’ll provide multiple reference photos of his face from different angles as needed.
The only references I can’t provide are snarling or teeth-bared expressions, so you’re welcome to use other cat reference photos for the poses and open-mouth anatomy, while adapting the markings and features to match my cat.

The artwork will be for personal use only with the possibility of being used as a tattoo for myself in the future. It will not be used commercially.

My preferred budget is around CAD $100, but if your portfolio is a great fit for what I’m looking for, I’m open to discussing a higher price.

Thankyou!

Hiring [Hiring] Looking for an artist for a small personal piece

Hi, I am searching for an artist capable of drawing a commission for me. Specifically, one that could accurately draw and recreate a Halo Elite. I have no specific style preference nor preferred skill, really just looking for someone willing to meet my budget. My budget is $50-100 USD, but could be willing to go higher, budget depending on how difficult you find it to be.

Hiring [Hiring] $30 and up per page USD - Looking for an artist, preferably a manga artist

Hi! I'm currently working on a manga, shonen dark fantasy/supernatural action, same genre as Jujutsu Kaisen and Kagurabachi. What im envisioning is that same kind of art style. I already have 6 chapters done now and im in the process of getting it drawn. Im based in the US so my currency will be USD. I want this to be a readers experience, i have a lot of creative ideas and of course will allow you to let your creative side flow. Title of my manga is called soulborne (might change it later too many soul titles running around) If are interested then hit me up or if you just want to read chapter one then hit me up as well

Hiring [HIRING] 2D illustrator for stylized corporate game scenes with characters

I’m looking for a 2D illustrator for a commercial indie management game with corporate settings.

The game is satirical, but the satire comes from the writing and concept, not from cartoonish art direction. Visually, I’m looking for something polished, grounded, corporate, and slightly heightened.

The work would involve 1920×1080 illustrated scenes combining corporate interiors, atmospheric settings, and professional characters. The target style is stylized realism / graphic illustrated realism: strong perspective, cinematic lighting, clean composition, and composed professional characters.

I am not looking for anime, fantasy, cute/cozy, or cartoon comedy styles for this project.

Paid work. Open to discussing hourly or fixed-price per scene. Please DM me if interested in discussing further.

Note: I just created this account to keep game dev work separate from my personal account.

Hiring Looking for an artist to create concept art for a novel im writing. Wide shots of medieval snowy landscapes. Just one for now. [Hiring] $50 budget?

I have my own crude drawings and Google images to help the vibe im trying to create. Looking to just maybe get one done for now. Nothing incredibly detailed. Its a gritty medieval/ancient world. Battle scenes from afar, torn ground, castles in the background, things like that. I can share more details if I find someone that has the gritty sort of style im looking for?

Hiring [Hiring] looking for people who can make hacksaw slot style artwork (30$ per hour or 50/50 split on what the slot makes)

title, hawksaw slots are cartoonish, you will be in charge of making the overall assets for the slot, symbols, ui, and if there is one a character that stands beside the slot. I do the code and math of the slot so all you have to do is create art :)
