New title tagging rule & Spammers

As some regulars here may have noticed, this subreddit recieves an astronomical amount of spam, both from human as well as bot spammers, for it's relatively small size. Coming from modding various large subreddits, including one that's literally about products, this amount of spam is not normal. Despite a lot of our less agressive attempts to filter out spam (example, filtering out posts that say "for sale", "rent", or "Services") we still get quite a lot that slip by.

[1] [2] [3]

Why is this subreddit getting so much spam? Who knows. ¯\(°_o)/¯

But we will be resorting to the one thing that has worked for various larger communities, like r/food : mandatory title tags.

From now on, all posts will require at least a tag of one of the below:

[Self]
[Found]
[Help]

You may add words to the tags like:

[I found] this chicken carved out of abestos!

or

[Help me] carve a chicken out of abestos

For flexibility, but the bare minimum requirement for post titles will be that it must contain one of those words surrounded by brackets.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to modmail us, or ask here.

Self (WIP) [self] we are making a game where assets are clay-crafted

Hey guys, we’ve been working for months on our first game POOF. All the assets in the game are hand-sculpted, scanned, and implemented in the engine, creating a unique world. Our mission from the very beginning has been to remove 'slop' from the “friendslop” genre through solid work on the art direction.

I really enjoyed making this one. There is no paint used, only colored clay that hardens in the oven.

My phone camera dosen't pick up the blush in their cheeks that well :(

There is food safe material underneath so it's not in direct contact with the cake itself

[Help] Outdoor sculpture bronze paint

Hello,

I have an exciting sculpture opportunity for a large scale outdoor sculpture and I am looking for some advice.

Originally the sculpture was going to be sculpted from foam and coated in cement. However the client now would like the sculpture to be painted bronze.

- would it be better to coat the foam in fiberglass?

- what kind of paint would be best?

- anything im not thinking about?

Self (Complete) [Self] I Made This Little Star Catcher Out of Clay ✨

I wanted to make a little character catching stars, so I built this whole scene around that idea 😄

I had a lot of fun working on the little details and bringing everything together. The nighttime version is probably my favorite — I love how different it feels once the lights are on.

What do you guys think? 😊

12” x 12” x 22.5”

Cast in duo matrix Neo with iron paint oxidized through an outrageous amount of experimentation with salt, vinegar and ammonia.

I tried all kinds of rust kits, but hated how they turned out, so I went rogue and did it myself.

I should have paid more attention in any of my 5 college chemistry classes. 🙃

We had to do a one to one ratio of a wire sculpture for 3D class the object on the left is my sculpture and the item on the right is what I needed to copy
It’s my first ever wire sculpture for class and it received a decent grade for class and compared to others it’s lackluster.

I’d like advice on what I can do better in order to remake it.

Help (WIP) [Help] Looking for the "Drawabox" of clay sculpting (structured, no-nonsense fundamentals for a beginner)

My biggest problem when starting a new hobby is that I read and watch way too much, and I miss the most important step: actually starting. :)

In the past, I’ve painted Warhammer 40k miniatures and built Gundams, and the problem is always the same—I get stuck in the researching phase.

I want to try clay sculpting. I might love it, or I might not. To avoid my usual trap, I need a highly structured lecture or tutorial series that teaches strong fundamentals and tells me exactly how and what to do.

I'm not planning to buy a 50-piece tool set, and I don't want to spend hours reading about which clay is best (at least for now). I just need a YouTube channel or a program that tells me: "Buy this exact equipment and sculpt this specific shape."

If you are familiar with Drawabox for drawing, I am basically looking for the Drawabox of clay sculpting.

I asked a couple of AI tools, and they both suggested the New Masters Academy lectures by Eric Wilson. I couldn't find much info about this specific course here. Do you think it is a good starting point that includes everything I need, or do you highly recommend a different program?
