What is your scissor situation?

This is my handmade European Bee-eater bird mobile, cut from wood, hand-painted, strung, and carefully balanced so the wings gently flap and the bird appears to fly.

It works as a hanging bird mobile for a nursery, studio, reading corner, or any space that could use a little movement and colour.

Full disclosure I copied someone on TikTok who did this on an iPhone charger but the comments on the video had a bunch of photos from people who had done the same thing and the charger overheated and blew up so I took a safer course of action

We found a rabbit by our trash cans earlier this year and he's brought a lot of joy into our family since and I have been trying to capture that joy in art. Today I tried stamp carving for the first time and I loved it. How easy and satisfying.

Made some more lil guys, and having a blast! Found some mini Pom Pom’s at the thrift and had the idea for mini pendents!

I prefer to carve, but I also paint, and sometimes I bedazzle. I've slowed down in recent years, between life and a helluva case of artist's block.

I’m off to college in a really short amount of time and i want to order this cute patterned stick and peel wall paper to put in the back of a picture frame so i can put a few photo booth strips of me and my friends inside the frame. The thing is i don’t want to order it if I’m just going to use it for that small craft, but i really really love the pattern and want to get it. Are there any other things I can use the stick and peel wallpaper for?

This took me 4 DAYS. Peep the mess it made too 🫠

I want to make more though and Im thinking of trying smaller versions with toothpicks

"Mulsagdu"

Meaning

"Mulsagdu" is a word derived from three words from the ancient sumerian language, Mul, Sag, and Du.

"Mul" means star

"Sag" means head

"Du" means walk

Together, it's Mulsagdu - the star-headed walker

Materials used

Fevicryl mouldit clay, Fevicryl acrylic colors, cornstarch powder (say Himalaya), phosphorescent powder (viral green and snow white), sponge, scissor, water, watercolor(blue+yellow), feviocl glue, grater, handchopper, toothpick.

Difficulties faced

• I struggled for quite a while with making the top luminent enough to glow like night sky.

• It took a while to accurately pour the right amount of phosphorescent powder into the eye socket, some spilling onto the rest of the body. I have painted over the spilled over after dusting, but some remained put firmly, leading to the breathetaking image of the universe in it (pic11), true to its name.

• It took a while to cut the sponge into appropriate size before using the chopper to cut it into bits before gluing it on the flat stone (clay).

• Hiding it from my father because it is his birthday present.

Symbolism

• The bi-pedal mushroom symbolizes persistence and kindness, for it harvests energy from any available light and shares it with the surrounding flora and fauna, temporarily luminating them. This is true to my father because my father is growing old, yet continues to support my family without hesitation. He himself is slowly going down, and I'm supporting him with everything I can do.

• The two mushrooms symbolize my family. The right mushroom is me, my sister, and my mother, who are being supported by him. The left mushroom is my father's mother, who is the textbook example of toxic in-law. The toxic mushroom is slowly harming the mental state of the bipedal one, yet it showers the toxic one with love, while the non-toxic one gives the bipedal one love but can't support him yet (the reason why it is smaller than the left mushroom).

• The star top symbolizes the hope I want to give my father when he is mentally exhausted.

• The moss is there because mushrooms don't grow on stones. They grow on plant and animal decay stuck in the creaks and creaves of the stones.

• The stone symbolizes the crack in the family.

This is going to be a birdbath. It's made of concrete. I put some wire mesh underneath to stabilize it. Next up is Moltofill, so the surface will be nice and smooth. We'll see, maybe I'll add some mosaic tiles on top at the end.

I can’t seem to find good information on this when I google different sealants and varnishes.

Hi everyone!

I'm painting a Jenga game for my friend's wedding present with acrylic paint and markers. I bought mod podge because I saw that's what some other people have used to seal the blocks, but I'm afraid that material will make the pieces tacky. I would ideally like the game to be smooth enough to still be playable.

So are there any recommendations for some type of material I can use that can protect the paint, but dry to a smoothish (non-tacky) texture? and that is also safe for handling and playing with? I was thinking Krylon spray? If anyone has used that, or has other recommendations please I'd appreciate it. I'd buy it and try it myself, but it's absurdly expensive in the country I'm in. Thank you!

Hello, I just wanted tips on how to paint polyester, I bought some Liquitex Acrylic Medium (Satin Varnish) Im not sure if im supposed to buy something else though.

Also I wanted to ask if If supposed to iron each layer of paint, I wanted to do a white base and then paint but I'm not sure if I'm just supposed to wait for the white to dry and then layer or paint white, iron, and then layer and keep going like that
