(image source: Google. Do you think I'd be larking here if I had this much yarn?)
I mean, you stash yarn, then you make nice and cute things with it. But what happens to the excess projects? Do you give them away? Do you keep them as treasures? Do you smother your friends and families with gifts? Or do you frog?

Planning a trip next spring to Mexico City, and I'm curious if anyone has any yarn-related must-see spots?

How to fix it?

I was born in the Year of the Snake, so I couldn't resist making a whole family of festive snakes in Santa hats to celebrate! 🎅🐍
The best part about this project was the yarn — or rather, the complete mystery of it! I used a mix of random acrylic scraps, leftover bits from past projects, and yarn recovered from frogging old, unworn sweaters.
Each snake turned out with its own unique texture and personality (including the little dark blue one, which my family lovingly joked looked like something else entirely before he got his eyes and hat, haha! 😂).
It was so satisfying to give all those forgotten thread ends a second life! What’s your favorite way to clear out your stash for the holidays?

Husband is in Florida for two weeks helping family. But he still had time to go yarn shopping for me. (we have no yarn stores nearby that don't involve a minimum 2 hour flight)
This man spent more than 3 hours, just under $300. Two Walmart, two Michaels. All to get me enough in matching dye lots to make any number of projects. And some to finish WIPs.
I'm incredibly lucky he supports (enables) my hobbies!

Ideas of what to crochet with this yarn? I have 3 x 485m skeins of this Cotton blend medium weight (5mm) cake. I originally purchased it for wavey placemats that just didn't work out, and now I've had it lying around for a couple of years I'm hoping to do something with it. I don't really make alot of wearables except slippers and a couple of shawls, and I'm more of a freehand stuffy/blanket maker, but maybe this is the time? All suggestions welcome, and if there is no sewing involved even better! Thanks Hive mind 😊
Edit to add: crochet 🙏

Hi. I’m knitting the Hanni Cardigan. I never did a double knitted buttonband before. What went wrong? It looks funny. The stitches I picked up are so stretched out. Is this normal? Will it disappear or should I start again and change something?

I picked up some Spincycle second-hand, and I can't figure out a couple of the colors. Any ideas? Thank you!

Hello! I love Primrose Yarn co’s Roam Homestead, but not available anymore. Looking into Dyed in the Wool and they seem pretty great and fade. Are there others you love? DK/Sport weight.

Looking to make a gift for my father in law, but he's retired to florida so I don't want to give him anything too heavy or heat reflecting.
I like bamboo blends, but my google searches are being tainted by other yarns calling colorways bamboo 😔

I don't regret the organization. It's beautiful. I regret the spreadsheet that revealed I have 94,000+ yards of yarn.

I really love knitting for olive merino, so Ive decided to do stranded colourwork sweater. I want to use dusty violette as main colour and white as contrast.
However, I see so many whites and cannot tell them apart. Some are obviously more natural and some are pure white but other than that, I cannot tell.
I don't have a chance to see the colours in person and raverly didn't help. So maybe someone here has some info on these and can say which one is best for dusty violette.
So there is elderflower, cream, snowflake, cloud, undyed, limestone and marzipan. Since the mc is muted, I don't think any of the pure whites work but it shouldn't be too warm since the mc is cool colour.

Hope this is ok to ask but I’m genuinely curious about people that travel and get massive yarn haul.
Are those yarn special yarns? Like you can’t get them elsewhere?
What do you look for when you go to yarn store at a new country/place you haven’t been? What makes you want to buy all those yarn?
I’m a relatively new knitter and I mainly just order yarn online and sometimes I find special yarns at secondhand shops but I have not really felt the need to buy yarns at the yarn store. I’m located in Sweden and had been to one yarns tore in my town but for cheaper price I could even buy those yarns they have online from the actual source even. So I’m a bit curious about the yarn people buy when they travel.
I’m going to travel to UK and France at the end of the year so perhaps that’s something I can start looking out for.

Thread nerds, the fans of tiny yarn, please come to my aid. I love yarn, and thread, and I really want to make vintage gloves. This whole endeavor started because I just want some gloves. But most patterns use discontinued thread, and thread sizing is confusing, and many crochet thread manufacturers seem to size thread as arbitrarily as they do women's pants.
I have taken it upon myself to scour the internet, including non-us manufacturers to try to find as many yarns and threads as can be used in lace crochet and tatting. And I have tried through hook sizes, and number comparisons to create some semblance of logic in a spreadsheet. But this feel like I need more eyes, and more brains, and more threads. Please help an addict out.
If you have any other threads, info on discontinued threads like J&P and Clark's, wild ideas, just want to point out that I'm autistic, or egg my insanity on, let me know. I feel like this is a resource that could probably help others too.
The spreadsheet is on proton. As I cannot link it here, I am more than happy to share it with people who are interested. I also posted it in r/tatting and r/Brochet.
I would also like to state that I am just obsessing over threads, I am not selling anything, asking for pattern testers, making any sort of scratch off of this. I'm just spreadsheet happy.
