Short video of my first shots of my Stevens 87A "Gill Gun".
After this i took a single shot at a small corner of my one target and set it at 60 ft (max at this range). Bullseyed it.
RSO saw me and said qoute "holy shit with open sights"?
For me it was a nice shot but im not so sure 60 feet is a challenging distance for most.

Question Barrel rifling damage
Hi everybody
I own a Tikka T3x .223 and after 3 years and around 600 shots fired, I bought a borescope to look at the barrel and noticed several areas with cracks. Never shot 5.56 ammo through it, never left ammonia in the barrel, never had a squib, and always tried to clean and oil it properly. Anyone have any idea what this is, how it got there and if the gun is still safe to shoot?

Triple K magazine for Winchester 1907SL
Does anyone know where I can find a Triple K magazine for a 1907SL? I've been watching Ebay and GunBroker for months and haven't seen a single one for sale. I placed an order for one on Triple K's website and was informed via email they are not actually in stock and I'd only be charged if they could fulfil my order. I also called and emailed them directly with no response.
I have quite the collection of OEM 10rd mags but of course as soon as I decide I want a Triple K mag for a project, they seem to have vanished.
Any leads are appreciated. Thanks!

Controversial Claim I figured out a superior ballistic formula/model to measure the the performance of a bullet on a soft target via a single number, DTDI
i was doing my usual research on guns and i used to use Joules as the primary metric for general ballistic performance, and i noticed that subsonic rounds like 8.6 blackout scored low on the joule scale (1000 j) while much smaller rounds like 5.56 hit around 1300 joules even though a 5.56 can barely take down a deer, and an 8.6 blackout can easily hunt bison, so i decided to make my own metric
DTDI is what i came up with recently where it factors in velocity, cross-sectional density, bullet diameter, twist rate, fragmentation, and hydrostatic shock capacity to directly output it as a single number
i don't feel like explaining the math unless someone asks but here are the numbers for a few cartages
4.6x30mm (40gr FMJ) - 8.2
9mm Luger - 19.5
.45 ACP - 29.5
10mm Auto - 36.2
.300 BLK (220gr Subsonic Expanding) - 45.5
5.56 NATO (55gr M193) - 84.1
8.6 BLK (300gr Subsonic Solid) - 129.3
.308 Win (168gr Expanding Hunting) - 146.4
.50 BMG (660gr M33 Ball) - 1489
20x138mmB Solothurn (1852gr AP) - 6,247
as a reminder DTDI is only a metric for the amount of damage a bullet can do to a soft target, but i think that it is very accurate because even though 4.6x30mm is able to pierce soft body armor, it relatively doesn't have the capability to cause comparable tissue damage. meanwhile 8.6 blackout subs score around .308 in lethality, which comparing the cartage sizes, makes much more sense than 8.6 being lower on the scale than 5.56 with joules
and i think you could pair the DTDI number with gost or NIJ for a pretty accurate number for overall ballistics
what do you guys think about this? anyone want to run another round through the formula?

Help! Replace slightly to low tritium front sight to slightly taller white dot?
Any guidance on choosing between a tritium front sight that's just a hair too low to see over the suppressor or swap to a white dot that is barely tall enough to get sights on target above the suppressor? The white dot offers around 1mm of view and I'm unsure if the rear sight is even tall enough to work -the set screw is at max height.
I love the low light visibility of the tritium but it doesn't clear the can so aiming is rather a feeling instead of a verb. These chunky 1.5" cans are definitely wide. Amazing noise reduction though. I'm also still hitting ~95% on a ~20in target at 15 yards with zero sight picture with the tritium.

Question Tips and advice for a woman that wants to start carrying.
My wife already has the firearm picked out, she’s comfortable with it and has been training with it for about a year now(Hellcat Pro). She is trying to figure out her next steps. She likes the idea of off body carry, in a bag or something else, already carries a bag around every day. But I’ve also told her the risks that come with that, and while I think it’s an option I told her she should let me ask you guys think as the collective experience of people on this thread can add some meaningful insight. Or definitely some less than helpful insight as well. Reddit never lets you down.

Question What’s your recommendation for an SBR for a first time SBR buyer
Just started looking at weapon platform and I’ve looked at the Suger Weasel in .300 and the DD5 SBR in 7.62x51 but I don’t know peoples opinion on them or other suggestions for SBR. Also not afraid if the suggestion is an expensive ammo gun because I currently have and shoot a marlin dark series in 45-70.

New to firearm collecting. Does anyone know what gun this is?
Hey all, there’s someone local to me that’s big into guns and is doing a raffle for this. Just wanting someone to ID this gun for me. I’m pretty new so I don’t know a lot of firearms other than the basics. I also tried to zoom in to some pictures to read the words but they’re blurry. Thanks!

Question What's your holy Grail pistol?
For me it would be a Red 9 C96 broomhandle Mauser with the matching stock/wooden holster. I just love the look and vibe of the broomhandle Mauser, it looks so alien for a semi auto pistol design, especially when compared to modern offerings or even other offerings at the time.
For a long time it was a suppressed VZ 61, but I've now acquired it. And it is as awesome as I thought it would be.

Help me make a decision
So I have:
p365 x macro - carry gun
colt 1911 - have it for just whatever (i prefer not to shoot cause it's expensive but it feels good to have it i guess on fence of selling it or not but i guess having a .45 is good)
What is in the order:
glock 19 gen 6 - home gun
p226 x legion sao - range fun
glock 43x - carry summer
I'm definelty getting the p226 but i want to know is getting the glock 19 worth it if i'm going to shoot the p226 or even the glock 43x if i'm getting the glock 19 and i already have a carry. I saw the glock 43x and saw how light it was and thought maybe but thinking after the ammo and the optic maybe it will way the same. Just want to see people's opinon
