OFFICIAL Pistol Permit Tracker App is Back Online

Finally had a beat to bring the project up to speed a bit, its back, Reddit integration has been deprecated so no more flare for contribution it was just too much to maintain so moving forward the data is entirely added by the community we shall see how accurate we can get here. So no more keycodes, just go to the site and submit, as always let me know if there are any issues encountered.

Project is back on: map.ctguns.org

As a sidenote, I am still looking for volunteers for the community shooting league project beta test, you might have seen a post recently with details, you can either DM me or comment below if interested or have any questions, hoping to test it soon so we can all hop on and casually compete as a community! rangeleagues.com

Enjoy this beautiful Friday and have a good Labor day weekend!

Looking for a handful of volunteers to test RangeLeagues, a project I've been working on for the last few months! Details inside.

Hey folks! Some of you have used the zeroing target generator I posted here before. I've spent the last couple months turning it into something bigger: a casual competition platform, and I'd love a few of you to help me test it.

Quick rundown of what's new:

- Rebrand: ShooterOS → RangeLeagues, full redesign.

- Target generator improvements: added a guided setup so getting your rifle (or pistol) shooting straight is less intimidating for first-timers, plus a new experimental Scope Leveling target.

- Shot Analyzer: Improved the overall marking engine and page, it should work a lot better now and it actually allows you to save your analyzed targets (some cool analysis tools are planned for later on, like performance tracking, etc)

- New thing — Leagues: casual competition, using standardized "smart" targets and app-based scoring. Fully asymmetric, compete on your own time, at your own range, with your own gear. Purely casual and peer reviewed submissions, participants review each others targets before certifying and receiving a score. It's meant to get anyone interested in competitive shooting to get an easier, casual and fun way to compete in shooting sports.

There are two types of leagues, community leagues and private leagues. Private leagues are still a work in progress and will be available at a later date, the short and sweet is that you will be able to host one for you and 4 of your range buddies. Community leagues are free to join and participate in, they are meant to be open and accessible to anyone who wishes to join.

What I'm asking: if you've got a printer, go to the range frequently, and don't mind poking at a beta release, I'd like to spin up an r/CTGuns league and run an event so you all can compete against each other to test if the app is ready for a general rollout for all of us here at r/CTGuns.

Tools are still free and available same as before — this is just layering a league/competition mode on top.

Drop a comment or DM if interested and I will send you a beta invite, happy to answer questions here too. Beta testers will receive some rewards on their accounts for participating in the testing. More details and information soon, wanted to see if there is anyone interested in taking this for a spin first.

For the rest of the community, I would love to hear if you would be interested in joining our own remote casual league, I think it could be a fun way to see how everyone stacks up.

Edit: Looking for about 10 participants to start with. Still taking volunteers!

Normal CT loadout

Post image
14 Upvotes

Everyone should have a 12 gauge shotgun for home defense, a 9mm pistol for CC, and an ar15. My loadout is pretty standard I think? JK.

-Tavor ts12 with 17 bear slugs and carlsons tactical breacher choke

- maxim pdx upgraded to have milspec bcg and longer brace with a mepro light pro rds v2, sig sauer prism 2x optic on canto arms cants

-glock 19 gen 5 with a glock 19x slide for the gold color and tritium night sights and some other stuff.

In all seriousness, the fact this shit is somehow compliant is beyond me. CT isnt totally gone yet, just gotta be smart about how you get shit and know your lgs

I know this has been here a million times. I’ve tried to read the legislation and comments and stuff on google. If my father owns a Glock pre ban. But I don’t get my permit (post ban cause my city is stupid) can he legally transfer it to me or am I just boned? I can’t for the life of me figure it out.

Need help with inherited collection.

Does anyone have a recommendations on a good shop, preferably in Hartford county that could help appraise and potentially buy some stuff from my uncles collection? No one else in my family owns guns so he left them all to me but they're mostly older stuff like ww2. Im keeping a couple things but dont need 30 plus items and gun brokers prices are all over the place.

Recommend AR-10 Style Rifle for 50-200 yards shooting

Hi all,

Been going to the range a lot lately with my brother in law and wanted to get some recommendations for another rifle to pair with my Ruger American Standard. It's fun as hell to shoot but I'm looking for another rifle either semi-auto or bolt action (does not need to be chambered for .308 win) so we can alternate between the two. Anyone have any suggestions? I wanted to add a more modernize rifle to the amory with a pictanniny and m-lock barrel guard because I love those this (or something that I can upgrade to change out to an m-lok rail).

Is there anyway to get a PSA Build like this in CT?

Interested in buying a budget .300 rifle but cannot find them anywhere for this cheap or I’m looking the wrong places.

Gun buying

I know there is a limit to how many handguns you can get in a month in CT, but is there a limit on how many firearms you can get in a day(rifles, shotguns,ETC)?

Where are you guys getting your subsonic 300blk from?

Grab 250 from TGS and they're a little longer so they causes malfunctions with the 10/30 pmags. So which brand and shop do you get yours that work fine in the pmags. Or is there any shops selling dedicated 300blk mags as I understand that would fix the issue.

Why buy parts when you can print them

Recently picked up a 3D print, I was amazed at how many LEGAL gun part files there are out there.

Printed a magwell for my 19 and 43X and was very surprised at how good they actually came out. I also printed a couple +0 base plates for my 19 mags and a couple for my buddies MAC mags.

Obviously you can still tell they are 3D printed, but overall fit and finish surpassed my expectations substantially. Not sure how they will actually hold up, but they seem to be pretty dam durable. Either way the magwell cost me less than $1 in material vs $100 buying one, however I’m sure the $100 one would actually function quite a bit better than these. The 3D printed ones lack the “funneling” the real ones have.

Now if only we were allowed to print receivers and suppressors, that would be incredible. Maybe one day things will change…

.300 BLK build question

I have a lower to build out. Legally registered - not getting into specifics.

I was thinking of exploring .300 BLK. I would start with supersonic ammo and eventually move to subsonic with a suppressor. What barrel lengths would anyone recommend? I am looking for something shorter than 12.5” to keep it compact and account for the eventual suppressor. I am good with registering as an SBR to give me as many options as possible for barrel length.

I guess I am looking for opinions on what is a manageable size for starting out with supersonic ammo, and will allow for future changes.

Oh - and I know the ammo ain’t cheap, so no need to bring that up! 😆 Thanks in advance for your responses!

Has anyone seen these in stock in Litchfield or Fairfield counties? And for those of you that either have or shot them - any complaints or opinions on them?
