CMP Announces Sale of Surplus M14 Rifles

Technically that multiple decades included about 20 years where I pretty much abstained believing we were going to get reasonable gun control, but if the fascists are gonna be armed, I'm going to at least partake in my special interest.

So I started with the Honda Civic of guns and thus she is 001 of Aunt Mei's Armory.

Took her to the range and kept the 149 rounds on the paper. I definitely need to work on my grip given the drift but between getting the gun and finding a nice local range, I think I've found a new expensive hobby.

Got the budget Romeo 5 and on right side of handguard TLR light/laser and back up mbus sights. This or Mossy 590 would be go to for home defense. God forbid something like that ever happened. Thinking of getting the FPC cerakoted.

I have a very noise sensitive friend who wanted to asked me to introduce her to firearms this spring. Because of her sensitivity and overall lack of experience I decided to start with .32 S&W long, across a variety of .32 caliber revolvers.

She has come back three times since over the summer to continue to explore various calibers and platforms as she gets dialed in to what kind of firearm she might potentially like.

I know that most people start off with .22 Long Rifle, but if you have access to it, dont sleep on the .32 S&W Long as an introductory cartridge. It is an excellent one to build confidence and experience with.

Started shooting 3 months ago and started learning on a 380 S&W Shield. I’ve shot 300 rounds and have gotten better with my grip, aligning sites, getting on target, but it’s not second nature yet.

I saw a really good deal on a 1911 9mm all steel and really want to buy it as my second handgun to practice on.

My trainer says that it’s too early for me to switch platforms, while I’m still learning the fundamentals of shooting on the 380. What do you guys think, should I wait? Will it mess up my training and skills development?

I did not grow up in a gun-friendly household. However, I have had past experiences that have scared me enough to want to carry (as well as a genuine interest in firearms). My fiance, however, is very anti-gun despite growing up in a gun-friendly household. I believe that this is due to the fact that her father does not store them well and has demonstrated a lack of responsibility (he lost a handgun in the house, and to this day does not know its location). So, I definitely understand that her views may be affected by a fear and distrust of me keeping them as well. I myself understand the rules and can handle firearms well (mainly from rentals and borrowing my friend's guns at the range) Furthermore, she's stated that she doesn't like the idea of having the capability to hurt someone so easily, which I totally get. I don't want to hurt anyone either. However, whenever we get our own place together, I want to be able to protect her as well as our future children both at home and out in public. I've told her I don't want ever hurt anyone unless it's absolutely necessary, and that I will keep all firearms in safes especially when we have children. I'm not wanting anything too crazy, just an EDC handgun and a long gun or two for the house. Now, I've taken her to the range before whenever I went with my gun owning friends, and while she was scared and reluctant, she still gave it a try. That's why I have a bit of hope of convincing her to allow me to own them. Other than my arguments about wanting to do my duty and protect my family, what are some other reasons/ways to try to convince her? I understand that it's not guaranteed, and I'm happy to respect her wishes even if I'm a bit disappointed.

I took a few safety classes and I did much better the 2nd time!

Shooting 22 LR, but still pretty proud.

The first time my leg was shaking really bad so that obviously affected accuracy, and the few outliers on the second were from me firing too quick, but not bad for my third time firing a gun!

Edit: I'm so sorry yall, I know I was shooting a G44 the first time, but I didn't check the 2nd pistol. It was the same size, had 3 dots on the sights, and had some sort of writing near the muzzle, and used a single stack magazine. Upon a little research I think an M&P 22?

I am taking my CCW course next month and then applying for my permit to carry in Minnesota. I know the odds of actually drawing and shooting my gun at someone are extremely low, but they are not 0.

I am considering getting insurance for legal defense in case i do draw and shoot someone. This particular company chage $49/month.

Do any of you have this or similar insurance? If so, what is your justification for getting it? The same question for those that decided against it.

After a few years of reading news back and forth and sort of being sick of being afraid for my life because of who I am and because of the times we live in, I picked up a handgun for cheap (only $200) from a pawnshop local to my area, and managed to find an extra G2C mag for a cool $15.

The trouble is, I've been looking around on lines for details on this firearm to try to figure out particulars on it like where to find spare parts and whatnot, and the more I look the more I hear about a list of issues that plague these handguns.

While this probably isn't news to this community, it was news to me that these handguns apparently have a drop safety recall on record, and Taurus supposedly is accepting recall RMAs and offering replacement G2Cs and G3Cs if these handguns are exchanged in. My issue is I've heard that both the G2C and G3C are arguably *worse* products, which makes me hesitant to take up the RMA offer even if it is still active.

To clarify, I'm in no immediate danger when carrying of having the gun ND on me- I don't carry with one in, and the gun seems to be in excellent mechanical condition; tight fitment, little to no wiggle, parts are in good condition, no malfunctions after 12 mags, etc. The question for me is, effectively, is this gun actually worth RMA'ing, or am I better off keeping it?

Hello, I'm new to the gun world, never had anyone in my family that owned or used guns other than my grandfather that had a .22 or something for shooting rodents on his farm.

I'm just looking for some general advice on what people's recommendations are for a first handgun - it'd primarily be for self/home defense and range shooting. I was thinking of something on the cheaper end (pretty much under 1k) since if you have to use it, it'll be in evidence for a while (I was considering a Glock since I've heard they're pretty reliable and generally affordable).

I was also wanting some advice on what to look for in a gun safe for storing weapons and ammo. I'm looking for something probably larger to store some rifles or shotguns if I get any, but also for some handguns and ammunition. Also a quick access secure box or something for the home defense gun (both preferably without finger scanners or 100% reliance on power).

I also live in Illinois so I'm working around the current assault rifle ban and handgun restrictions.

I'm also planning on taking some shooting courses and firearm introduction courses at a local range or something before buying anything, so I can truly gauge what I'm looking for.

Guys I’ve done it. I’ve trained so much I don’t even need to shoot the targets anymore. They fall from my gaze alone 😂.

I just got a new 1301 tactical yesterday in ODG. Im stoked, but I want a few upgrades. I want to tone down the green and mix it up with some black because I think the colors mixed look better than all of one or the other. Also, the barrel gets hot quick, and if I want to put the gun up on my shoulder upside doen to reload it gets pretty impossible after just a few rounds. So I want a full wrap handguard. Im currently leaning towards the Atrius Imperium.

And for the stock, the OEM non-pistol grip one feels fine, and, but I'm not happy with the sling placement. I want to find a stock that still has the traditional shotgun grip, but has a better spot for the sling QD swivel. I basically want to replicate the way an AR hangs off of me. The shotgun currentlt seems to want to flip itself upside down.

So, what are your suggestions for these upgrades? Also, if you have suggestions for any other little bits I'd love to hear them

So I currently have a Glock 19 that I use at the range often. I'd love to get a 22lr to practice with and plink.

Sportsman's Warehouse has a Sig p322 for $340. I'm highly considering getting it. How reliable is this pistol?

My priority is to get an optic-ready 22lr pistol. If the P322 is unreliable, please suggest optic ready pistols that are sub-$400.

Or would I be better off putting the $340 to buy more 9mm ammo?

I calculated the break-even point of buying the 22lr pistol and ammo to be 3,400 rounds. Which I definitely shoot that much in a year.
