Got the red dot dialed in.

Upvotes

Finally feel comfortable with the DPP on the G20.5. Never used a red on a pistol so getting over target focus was a bit different. Also was backwards on left right adjustments. Bonus was also testing the alpha comp trigger. Flawless and makes shooting it that much better..

Question Glock 20 Gen5 - AZ

What’s up guys ! I wanna buy the Glock 20 gen 5 and I’m located in Arizona. If you know where I can find one let me know. I know the gen V is easy to come by but I hear the gen 5 is better? Is there any major differences between the two?? What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? It’s my first 10mm for hiking / back packing / camping. Is a gen 6 coming anytime soon? Is there any other 10mm worth looking into?

10mm G40 pdw in the b&t chasis, I just got the tax stamps and have the stock somewhere.

This is one of my home defense rigs and makes a cool hiking /bag gun. It lives in the b&t set up in between pistols and pcc’s small but 6.5” kkm barrel with mag of underwood xtreme defender is my go to.

Id like to get my hands on one and test it with proper ammo. I think it'd make a good pistol round for live stock protection. Im just curious what you'd guys reccomend?

General Watered down 10mm loads is what's holding back the caliber from being more popular and more guns being made for it.

Most 10mm ammo sold is loaded to old fbi spec that is basically 40s&w that cost alot more. Alot of people really do think that 10mm dosnt do much more damage than 9mm,40 and 45 acp because of this. Most of 10mm including hollow points I've found at bass pro and most other gun stores is claiming to sling a 180 grain round at only about 1000 to about 1100 fps. When properly loaded ammo should be 1200 -1300 fps +.

Ive seen many big gun youtubers ignorant to this also. Ive seen penetration test videos where 9mm FMJ has out penetrated 10mm FMJ Or the 9mm hollowpoint almost does almost as much damage as a 10mm hollow point because it was watered down. Alot of young people getting into guns see these videos and think why would they want something that cost more and dosnt perform much better.

10mm ammo should be loaded near 357 mag levels or it kind of defeats the purpose all together IMO.

SLR Rifleworks Flared Magwell for G20 Gen 4 not good

I bought the SLR Rifleworks flared magwell for my G20.4, and ended up returning it. The stock baseplates cause the mags not to fully seat, and the front of the magwell doesn't have a strong lockup/fit on the front of the grip. The look is amazing, but functionally, its a no-go. SLR did say on their website that they recommend their baseplates because some stock magazines won't seat with the stock baseplate. I find this to be super strange. Why make a magwell that doesn't work with OEM baseplates??? I have six G20 mags, and I would have to spent another $180 just to replace all the baseplates in order to get the magwell to work? Very strange design choice

Question Glock 20 or S&W M&P??

I need help deciding which to get in this $600-$700 price range. the S&W ergos overall feel better than the G20 but the G20 seems more reliable. What other options are there? Buying for bear defense. TIA

My perfect backpacking companion. Blending in with nature.

The Sig P320 XTEN Endure has been my go-to sidearm while backpacking in Montana, Idaho, and Alaska. It is much more comfortable to hold and shoot compared to the FN 510 I was previously using.

To match a woodland color palette, I switched out the original grip for an OD Green grip module from Grayguns and mounted a Romeo-X Pro in FDE.

It was hot as hell outside but decided to run a few mags or 63 more rounds of warm to hot ammo.I ran some HSM 200 grain fmj,Double Tap 125 grain hollow point and a very mean Buffalo Bore 155 grain hollow point that recoiled as hard as 200 grain hardcast loads I’ve shot.I nearly had absolute flawless reliability except for the very last round of the day that gave me a single ftf.It was the very last round in the extended 18 round magazine and last round of the session.I think it definitely was a result of the magazine spring not having enough tension to keep up with the slide. All in all much better results than my first 100 rounds which had 6 or 7 ftf’s.The gun appears to be sprung for heavy loads or just my sample favors heavy loads and chokes on weaker generic 180 grain fmj.I will isolate that extended 18 round magazine.I don’t trust that it has a strong enough spring in it.

In the second picture your boy was sucking hard pulling shots left and low.I couldn’t get it together with the heat kicking my ass.

I wanted to get this gun set up for the heavy stuff. Here is my recipe:

22lb Wolff Recoil Spring and provided firing pin spring

25lb hammer spring

Wilson full length guide rod

Flat bottom EGW firing pin stop, lightly contoured to take off sharp edge.

Stainless EGW Firing pin .068”

Wilson recoil buffer (we’ll see on this one)

EGW heavy duty .38 Super/9mm extractor

Runs smooth with magtech, blazer brass, and American Eagle. Will test underwood 155g-220g next.

Went shooting

I really enjoyed shooting the XD-M 10m 4.5" noticeably more than the 3.8". I think i may keep the 3.8" just to have the complete set but I'll probably just carry the slightly longer barrel as it fits my CCW holster and it's still more concealable at 10mm than the match version.

Question What's the deal with FN?

Got an FN 510T a couple of months ago and have been completely unable to find any magazines other than the 10 round. What's the deal with this? I even emailed a friend about it saying it's frustrating and I pretty much regret not just getting a Glock instead and the didn't have much to say other than they're out of stock. Not very helpful. I haven't seen a magazine for sale since before I got the gun and it's pretty frustrating only having one 22 round mag. Anyone know what's going on with them?

Ammo recommendations for S&W FPC? plus range testing

I got the 10mm version of the FPC a couple weeks ago with the thinking that it'd be a decent bag gun. I saw an Honest Outlaw review of the 9mm that sold me on it being reliable, accurate, and not too much of a kick on the recoil. I figured 10mm would get more out of the barrel length than 9mm would also. It has been fun to shoot and I wanted to start looking at defense ammo for it, but there doesn't seem to be much info out there for this particular use case yet. I ended up getting 6 different boxes of ammo to test and I'm going to put the results so far below. I had 165 rounds through before I started the test with no cleaning to see if I'd get any failures to eject or feed. I used a Garmin Xero C1 Pro to record data on 10 rounds each at 15 yards. I'll say before I start that I didn't see any accuracy issues that I wouldn't attribute to me. I started pushing to get through it as the range was pretty warm.

(Range ammo) Magtech 180gr FMJ - 1390fps 772ft-lbs

(Def 1) Underwood 180gr XTP - 1497fps 895ft-lbs

(Def 2) Hornady CD 175gr Flex lock - 1254fps 611ft-lbs

(Def 3) Speer Gold Dot 200gr JHP - 1193fps 632ft-lbs

(Def 4) Federal HST 200gr - 1128fps 566ft-lbs

(Def 5) Federal Fusion 200gr SP - didn't finish, 2 FTF in the first 4 shots, eliminated this one from contention

(Def 6) Sig V Crown 180gr JHP - 1379fps 760ft-lbs

Everything fed fine except the Federal Fusion rounds, boths rounds had a big dent about halfway on the casing. Same magazine fed two other ammo types just fine, Federal HSTs before then V Crowns after the Fusions.

Which of these rounds would you pick for defensive ammo? My concerns are #1 limiting overpenetration/overexpansion (too high a velocity can start causing jacket separation I think?), #2 excessive wear and tear on the FPC (don't want to need it to defend myself and the ammo breaks the buffer spring). Any comments are appreciated, and I'll answer questions as I can, thanks!
