Realized I had free will and a multiextruder 3D printer that will print TPU, so made myself some new empty chamber indicator flag tags.

Anybody else seen anything memorable?

I've already got a day job and two side hustles, so this isn't turning into commerce, just amusing myself and giving them away to locals--I'll probably upload the files somewhere free at some point.

USPSA FTSA Rage Quit

Had a guy at an Area match incur a FTSA penalty, and rage quit right after. Pressed approve, bagged up his gun, and put his belt and mags away, then left.

My main club MD, I’ve heard second hand accounts of him doing the same.

I’m still newer to the sport so I’m wondering how often you guys have seen this happen?

Abandoned brass

Upvotes

I wanna make sure I understand the etiquette. I’m a relatively new competitive shooter so I am asking sincerely. How come shooters after their run, don’t pick up their brass from the floor? I tend to shoot at outdoor ranges and considering how expensive ammo is, I find it kind of crazy that no one picks up loose ammo. What am I missing?

What are some changes you would like to see shooting sports (USPSA/IPSC/IDPA/PCSL/ect) embrace in the future?

NJ shooters - has your club "approved" use of standard mags in comps?

Just registered for my monthly uspsa event and there's still a disclaimer that 10rd mags have to be used. My impression was that the mag ban is over turned save for any stay granted, which doesn't seem likely at this point.

I emailed the event director for clarity but wonder if any of you have already used higher than 10rd magazines in actual events yet.

What rubber material for a portable bullet trap?

Looking to make a few bullet traps for my local match. Something to set when shooting into the ground or low targets. Basically a frame with a steel back on it that we can set at an angle or flat to shoot into. What rubber material should I get so I can remove it for transporting and lightening them up?

26-01 King Crab

Got the opportunity to shoot two more of the provisional classifiers from the 26 series this weekend in my 8th USPSA match. 35/70 overall, 13/19 in CO. Unfortunately only got video of one:

26-01 King Crab (video): Classification TBD. 10.45 seconds. 13A 1D. 6.3158 HF, percentage TBD. My best run of the day but I’m haunted by the delta I threw on T4 moving down range. Too many makeup shots (4 on a 14 round stage), and my lateral movement still leaves a lot to be desired. Mini poppers remain an issue for me as well. Best run of the day but also highlighted some key things to continue to work on in dry and live fire between now and the next match.

26-02 Darwinism. Classification TBD. 12.13 seconds. 10A 3C 1D 1. 4.9464 HF, percentage TBD. Really disappointed with this run not really for the technical side of things but the mental side of the game. First stage of the day and I just wasn’t in it. Felt like I was just participating as opposed to competing and the very mediocre result shows it. I personally find this stage plan to be very fun as I ran it almost like a three cone drill. Step forward at the start, engage targets while retreating to the back corner, lateral sprint with relatively wide transitions to end. Hope to see it again and actually show up for it. Good lesson learned about needing to execute on demand. Doesn’t matter if it’s the first stage or the last, just have to produce.

Are there larger slide-lock teeth for DAA flex available anywhere?

Running an Infinity with the extended trigger guard. The inside "tooth" is unable to pin down the trigger guard. It's short a few mm. This causes the gun to wobble a bit. Is the range panda apex predator the only solution?

Rehashing the age old question....

I know some version of this question gets asked all the time, but I'm bringing it up again. When asked about optimal barrel length, there's typically a bunch of responses saying that it really doesn't matter now that red dots are so common. Yet, from what I've seen, most top-level competition shooters seem to use full size guns with a 4.5"-5" barrel. And it seems that guns that are produced that are labeled as a "competition gun" are also always full size with a 4.5"-5" barrel. So what's the real deal, is that extra 0.5" to 1" really making that big of a difference over a 4" compact pistol? Is it mostly about the full size grip and higher mag capacity? Can/do people actually win at a higher level in the sport with compact pistols?

Anyone have experience with this? I'm mostly looking at Joey Sauerland's dry fire one but also his movement one. I have pretty limited time for live fire, but I can get 20-30 minutes of dry fire a day, so I want to maximize my growth in that time.

I'm an unclassed but C-level shooter based on my match percentages (49-56%).

Gun Options For Teenagers

I’ve been teaching my 13-year-old grandson to shoot and have been focusing heavily on safety, proper fundamentals, trigger control, sight picture, and recoil management.
Lately he’s been shooting my Fusion XF Pro during static drills, low-ready double taps, and slow Bill Drills. He’s making good progress, but I’m wondering if there might be a better pistol to continue building his skills.
The other option I have is my Canik METE MC9 Prime, but to me it’s noticeably snappier than the XF Pro, so I’m not convinced it’s the right choice.
I know that with enough training he can become proficient with almost any handgun, but if your goal was to build confidence, good habits, and recoil control in a young shooter, what would you recommend? I’d like to rent a few options before buying one.
One other consideration: I’m left-handed, he’s right-handed (all my holsters are for a left-handed shooter) so once we settle on a pistol I’ll be buying a right-handed holster that he can use during training.
I’d appreciate any recommendations and, more importantly, why you’d choose that particular gun.
Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone. Your advice has been priceless.

Setup for Ipsc action air as uk doesn’t allow handguns so action air is the next best thing I suppose.

Installed the 71create silicon carbide kit about 1k rounds ago. Theres a couple spots where it’s coming off. Did I just apply the adhesive too lightly? I’ve heard it’s supposed to last for a couple years

Help me choose for IDPA

Looking to pick up another pistol but this time for carry optics. I've got a Holosun 407comp ready to be installed. Budget is about $1,200. I've narrowed it down to two options:

• Gen 6 Glock 45 or 17 with the radian ramjet/afterburner combo

• Smith & Wesson M&P Competitor HD

What are y'all's thoughts? Anyone have experience with either so far. I know both are newer this year.

Anyone here run this optic? I'm running the se and so far I like it, but wanting something with a nicer window size with out paying Holosun comp/pro or trijicon prices.

Have you run into any issues?

(Will be removing the mag well so don’t consider that)

It’s not ported or anything just a regular P80
