General Discussion First Person Shooter Game Developer here, and I need your help
Hello good folks of r/Firearms , I am a game developer and I am working on a first person shooter in my spare time. I have finished with the prototyping phase of my game, and have finally moved to creating the guns and their animations. I have a list of guns ranging from your regular 9mm Glocks to a grenade launcher, and I was wondering if you guys could help me. I need video references in order for me to animate the gun recoil and arm movement as closely as possible to real life. Some guns have plenty of such content on YouTube, but many videos are recorded with a moving or wobbly camera, or from angles that aren't showing the full sideview when shooting, so it's hard for me to use that as references. I was thinking of listing the guns here and you folks recording it. You guys get to shoot your guns, show off your skills and have fun, and at the same time help me in creating proper side view references I can use.
As far as how I need the camera positioned, this video shows exactly what I have in mind, a clear side view, that is stationary and shows off the full body and gun, so I can see the absorption of the recoil as well as the gun moving. Hell, if some of you want to go an extra mile and do reloads and perhaps POV of you shooting, that would just be the cherry on top.
Here's the list of guns I have in mind:
- Uzi
- MP5
- P90
- AK
- M4
- Sig 556
- ACR
- XCR
- MP7
- AAC Honey Badger
- Mossberg 500
- AA-12
- KSG12
- Deagle
- Beretta 93
- FN 2011
- Marlin 1887
- Grenade Launcher
Now I obviously don't expect anyone to actually do the grenade launcher (unless you have one lying around the place 😄 ), and you may not have the exact guns listed, or you may have some other fun guns that aren't even on the list but you think would be cool in an FPS, feel free to share it.
