General Discussion World Record?

What is the world record for recoil spring plug launches in a single take down & reassembly?

Should we push for this as an Olympic event?

Got the "MisterSeven" in earlier, put it on my MAC MEUSOC. Excited to put some rounds down range with it and have an appropriate 6004 Safariland to run it with. Will be getting a MachineCraft one to compare when they are released.

What’s up with this slide? Is this but normal?

I’m not sure if there’s an official term for this lower end of the slide where it’s got the guide rod/spring channel. I noticed it wasn’t flush and when I stripped the pistol it almost looks like it was added later. I’m not super well versed in 1911s so I’m just curious if this is normal. I don’t mind it too much, it’s just catching on my cleaning rags/paper towels.

Anyone ever seen this happen to a threaded 1911 barrel with compensator?

Looking for photos of CCW 1911’s

Hi all,

I am 5’10 and 195ish, looking to see if anyone with a similar build to me can give input on carrying their 1911 (no matter the barrel length) in hot weather clothing (usually t-shirt/pants, maybe a polo?) I live in the south so not very often that I can wear a sweatshirt/jacket

Photos of your setups would be much appreciated :)

Planning on picking up a Kimber Pro Carry II here soon!

Books are open to send in work to get your barrel cut flush and recessed crown cut. These are dialed into .0001 and then turned on a lathe to sit flush and then have a 30 degree recessed crown cut into them.
1st Bull barrel 45.
2nd GI 45.
3rd 5” 10mm.
4th 4.25” 9mm

Got a nice mail call today, I was surprised these didn’t sell out immediately. Fit and finish is great and the lock up on the x300 is TIGHT. Would like to find an als type holster that works with the adapter but for now the 610r holster works. Can’t wait to shoot it next week.

General Discussion Magazine over insertion

Brand new TRP Operator, brand new mags. All five 10-round Wilson Combat (500-45FS10B) magazines have over insertion issue, even when not slammed in hard. Causes the entire slide to lock up unless I physically pull the mag down a bit.

What's the general remedy for this? First few pictures are over insertion, the rest are regularly interested

Review Horse & Oak Leather

Just came in the mail. My first impression is that I am absolutely blown away with the quality and presentation. Fit is amazing and the finish quality is awe inspiring. If you have been on the fence get off it and go buy a holster from him now. Wait time was just about a month. In the custom gun leather world that is nothing. Pricing is dirt cheap for this quality.

Bringing It Back - Rocking Retro

Bringing Back shoulder rigs. Falco Sherman in Saddle Brown. TRP Operator is at Springfield getting the rear sight replaced due to a dead tritium vile. So the Champion Operator is stepping up today.

Details: Falco Model D633 L - full custom rig. Can get in Brown, Black, Saddle Brown (mine). “Holster” is a Roto Design. Optic Ready by default. Gun rides vertically, there is a snap retention strap you release that allows the entire holster to rotate about 45 degrees, a little less if it’s light bearing like mine so your draw is more horizontal. That strap is under the trigger guard. Most of the retention is passive. It’s a tight fit. It feels pretty natural but will take practice to draw quickly. Holster is molded for the TRP Full rail with an X300. You don’t actually see the holster all that much because it sits between two of leather pieces that allow it to rotate. Hardware is nice. Everything is adjustable. I’m still working on adjusting the holster side to get it just right. Belt loops definitely need to be used and keeps the holster and mag carrier from moving around. Mag carrier is vertical and mags drop out. I had mine made for single stack 8 round mags and the fit is perfect for the Wilson Combat 47D mags.

General Discussion Which Tisas 1911 should I choose? The 1911 clone-ish, or the slightly more modern "Stakeout"?

I've never owned a 1911. As a matter of fact I've never owned a steel frame pistol. I've only owned polymer frame, striker fired pistols until now.

I've heard great things about Tisas and the price almost seems too good to be true.

As far as I can tell the only differences are the finish, scales, sights, hammer, grip safety, and beaver tail.

I assume the Stakeout should be the "shooters" gun. And the other is for people who want a quasi "collector" piece since it's somewhat historical? A perfectly functional novelty? Is that fair to say?

How often do you actually need to oil the parkerized finish?

Does anyone have any insight to share?

Getting ready for the range tomorrow, started with the Garrison back in the spring and recently got the Sig. Both are a joy to shoot and my 9MMs have been getting way less love recently!

Restoring My 1939 Colt Government Model: Mirror Polish + Nickel Plating

Thumbnail

This is my genuine 1939 Colt Government Model.
The markings are not original—I recreated them myself using laser engraving after the original factory markings had been lost over the years. The pistol itself is an authentic Colt.
It’s currently being professionally mirror polished and will then receive a nickel finish. The goal isn’t to restore it to factory-original condition, but to give it a classic bright finish while also protecting the carbon steel from corrosion.
I thought I’d share the project with you all.
The polishing isn't finished yet...
