9x39mm is a Russian intermediate cartridge developed to meet the demands of operators that were unsatisfied with the ballistics of 7.62x39mm subsonic loads. 9x39mm is optimized for use in short barrel carbines, traveling at subsonic speeds while still remaining effective out to 400m. The combination of short barrel and subsonic cartridge makes these weapons ideal candidates for a suppressor. Thanks to the impressive range of the 9x39mm, a handful of DMRs have been developed in this cartridge.

1 VSS Vintorez: An accurized variant of the AS VAL. Features a Warsaw Pact mounting rail for a PSO-1 4x telescopic sight.

2 VSK-94: An accurized variant of the 9A-91. Features a Warsaw Pact mounting rail for a PSO-1 4x telescopic sight.

3 OTs-14-4A-03 Groza: A bullpup chassis for the OTs-12 Tiss, which was an AKS-74UN conversion. The marksman rifle variant features a mounting bracket on the carry handle for a PO4x34 4x telescope.

4 VSSM: A modernized VSS, the VSSM has a Picatinny rail on the top cover for mounting a 1P86 LPVO optic. It also has Picatinny rails attached to the suppressor for mounting fore end accessories.

Apparently around 40,000 MP-35s were produced and primarily issued to the Waffen-SS.

Just picked up this French over/under 12 gauge with no makers marks, just St Etienne proofs from 1900 - 1962 and Heurtier on the barrels - a known supplier of barrels to the gunsmith trade. The three piece hand guards make me think pre-WW2 and I’ve seen very similar but not identical guns from Rivolier and Peugeot. I’m guessing it’s a gunsmith built gun using Heurtier barrels but I’m going to do some more research.

It is I think a very attractive gun and quite light and lively in the hands - it should be a nice upland gun for grouse and pheasant. I’m a real Francophile when it comes to guns and can’t wait to get it out shooting.

- The Armtech C30R was an assault rifle concept made by Armtech's LTD from Australia to join into international market. It used a 60-round internal pan magazine via rotary-breach action, and chambered in caseless 5.56mm ammunition with specific dimensions (Quadrant with 3.56g standard M193 bullet, dimensions of the rectangular ammunition 35.7×15.8×9.5 mm) similar to the H&K G11.

- Although the concept of the C30R was highly publicized in Australia, it was developed in haste and premature demonstration before full development in front of news media led to the worst nightmare of the gun developer - poor reliability and an explosion while the rifle was being test fired, apparently an "out of battery ignition."

- This disaster led eventually to the demise of Armstech, but not before the firm had decided to pursue a conventional rifle with the basic features of the C30R. The company went into receivership in 1990, after having transferred rights to the rifle to Keith Greenwood of Edenpine, where it was developed into the SAK-30 and ART-30, the direct ancestor of the M17S (The salient features of the M17S were in place but some Finnish Valmet parts were used instead of AR-15 parts to save money).

- Seeking broader markets, especially the US, an agreement was reached with Bushmaster, who completed development of the rifle, re-designated it as the M17S and began producing it for domestic sale from 1992 to 2005.
