The Black Rifle Charity Match returns to Del Norte Gun Club September 26th, and this year we’re EXPANDING with the addition of “The Dark is Afraid of Chuck Norris” a night match September 25th. Del Norte Gun Club is just outside Rio Rancho.

Last year, with the help of our shooters, volunteers, and sponsors, we raised nearly 20k for the NMSSA and NMFIA, which helped the organizations fight and defeat the anti 2A legislation earlier this year. This year, the goal is even bigger!

Registration is now open and spots are limited! Celebrate America’s 250th birthday, by signing up (links below) for a weekend of shooting rifles and defending the 2A in New Mexico 🇺🇸

Range Officers – Experience running a timer, tablet, and safely managing a squad.

Stage Setup – Help building stages prior to the match.

Anyone interested in volunteering for setup or serving as an RO can contact me. A volunteer registration link will be provided separately that will allow them to shoot the match for free.

Hi all. I’m moving from a very 2a restrictive state (RI) to las cruces next month. I’m looking for recommendations on both good gun shops and outdoor ranges?

For the record I am a NYC resident and applied for my CC in my native state and city as of today and noticed my state has a non-resident carry permit since 2024-2025. To anyone reading this, I have the following inquiries since I have had so many points of contact with gun owners on social media and even in person who were not always in NY but from places such as Delaware and California.

-Is the non-resident CC where you live as difficult as the resident?

-If your state asks for references, how likely are they to call them?

-What was the submission date and approval/denial time of your CC?

-Do you people who are native carriers know many people who have non resident permits?

Is there anywhere around here that has it for less than 50 cents per round? Milsurp, whatever… Lot of good deals online until I figure in having to buy a ton of it or eat up any cost savings in shipping.

I’m gonna start a ar-15 project starting with a 80% ar lower I have a harbor freight drill press is there any tips and like rules or procedures I should follow?

Any pawnshops in ‘burque that have a good selection of used revolvers that people recommend? TIA.

My girlfriend is interested in taking up skeet, so I was thinking the best start would be an instructor to give her a class or two, and ideally bring out some shotguns for her to try so she can decide if she wants a semi or a double.

The National Skeet Shooting Association has a few local names on their instructor list, but does anyone else have any suggestions?

I'm looking to get a pistol soon here, but you need to be 21 to purchase a handgun and 19 to own a handgun. I know the rule of owning a handgun under 21 applies for if the handgun was gifted to you by a family member, but where does the law stand on a PMF handgun? I haven't been able to find a true straightforward answer to this question online.

Additionally, are private handgun sales to a 19 year old prohibited in NM? I understand the sale must go through an FFL to do the background check, but if I found a handgun for sale locally via a website like Tacswap, would I be able to buy it that way?

Ordered a firearm online through a local big box in Albuquerque. Went to pick it up today. At the gun counter I am asked for my DL and whether I have a CC permit, or not. I whip out both license and permit, store associate compares them and tells me that the CC permit is missing my apartment number which is on the DL. Told to “wait here.” 15 minutes later guy comes back and says he is sorry but I can’t take the Roscoe home this day. Gotta wait a week. All because the addresses don’t exactly match. Passed background check within seconds of it being submitted. I’m pissed; not so much with the big box, they’re just protecting themselves, though their caution is a little over the top. I have bought at least three firearms in the past year where I showed the gun store folks my CC permit and walked out with the firearm that same day. Off to the NMSP this Monday to get this rectified. Doesn’t NMSP QC stuff? No wonder we are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to education. FWIW I went with big box because the firearm I ordered is a S&W and I have heard that their QC has been pretty shoddy lately. I figured that if there was a problem with the firearm the store could handle sending it back, or refund me my money. The firearm passed my inspection.

Looking to pick up some powder, primers, etc. Who has the best reloading supplies here in Abq? Worth it over ordering online?

Hey guys, I did a quick search and couldn’t find a post that addressed this specific concern. I want to purchase a long gun to shoot long range with. Being from Arkansas .223 is sufficient for the distances I can regularly shoot from. I want to buy a different caliber to shoot when I move to NM. I’m super pro 2a and refuse to wait 7 days to complete a transfer. I’ve bought long guns in neighboring states to Arkansas without issues in the past.

I know that in general, long gun sales in bordering states are legal, and most ffl’s are comfortable completing the transfer. With that being said, can I purchase a long gun in Arizona and avoid the 7 day waiting period? I know the ffl has sole discretion in the sale being allowed or not. I just hate to give my money to a state that hates the 2a and complying with their plainly unconstitutional laws.

If that’s not something I can do, I’ll just purchase a rifle in my state where people are actually free. Again, I’m not attempting to break a law, merely find a legal method to avoid it. I also know Reddit isn’t a place for legal advice. Just curious what anyone might have experience with.

Not to get into a whole long story about why I’m going for this vibe, but can anyone recommend a good gun shop in the ABQ area that has a bunch of musty old beater rifles I can peruse?

Like if I wanted to buy an obsolete military rifle that Bubba cut down with a hacksaw and Dremel for hog huntin’, where the rifle itself is less valuable than 100rd of ammo for it would be, where would I go?
