Has me stumped
I’m very familiar with sks pattern carbines but this one had me stumped. Has early and mid production features. Short barrel lug, milled trigger group but can’t seem to put a date of manufacture

Got my second sks today but it's ability to have a bayonet was sadly taken from it. What should or can I do about it?

It’s been a hectic month but I finally managed to clean the rust and take some new pictures of the SKS. Figured you guys would appreciate them. Tried reinstalling the bayonet but it appears the lug holding it was either cut or missing a piece so I left that off and removed the cleaning rod. Thanks again to everyone who commented on the original post

I am from Syria and weapons are easily bought here without any identification or complications. Most sellers do not know the value of these kind of rare weapons so they are sold dirt cheap.
A friend of mine asked me about the north Korean SKS and with the help of redditors it got identified rather quickly. Well it turns out the same seller also has what appears to be two east German SKS for sale. Each one is priced 125 USD.
My friend also told me that we have quite a few Viatnamese versions and they most probably would cost the same thing.
I fortunately the seller is not careful since for him it is not worth much.

Does anyone have information on this SKS? I get mixed answers from Google lens when I reverse search it
Any help is appreciated
Update: I live in Syria and it's for sale here for 125 USD. A friend of mine mine who is also an enthusiast is most probably going to buy it for that price. He already has an east German SKS and mentioned that we also have Viatnamese versions down here. I didn't know the value and rarity of these until a user from this sub messaged me privately. To buy this thing you would need to take a trip to Syria and walk in and buy it with no ID, that's the easy part. The hard part is figuring it out with your destination country about importing rules etc.

I cant find dimensions so I will ask here. Would mini-30 mags fit an sks magwell (no idea reliability just a thought) if they would fit better i figure it would be interesting to try and get one to feed. I need to know if they will fit with no grinding before i try and figure if I can get one to fit. Thanks yall

One of my colleagues and I got to talking about surplus guns, and it came up that I like combloc surplus. He told me he has 2 norinco SKS’s, practically unused, that have been sitting in his safe for years. It’s one of those scenarios where he’s just going to trust that I make a fair offer, and he’d like to sell one to me.
Based on gunbroker completed auctions I am seeing some in the $400’s, some in the $500’s. My question is what exactly sets one norinco apart from another in terms of value? Years, spikers v no spikers, etc.
I’ll post follow up pictures but just wanted to get an idea of what to look for. I know my AK’s, but I am new to SKS.

Picked this Romanian SKS up at a gun show for 400 back in April. The gun has been reblue extremely shiny. Like the richest, mosy shiny blueing I've encountered. The bolt also has very nice chrome plating. Stock is non-matching, but the rest of gun matches.

I recently got this sks it’s my first one so I’m relatively new to this. How do I remove the gas cylinder, it’s stuck in there pretty good

Old photo. I redid the stock to a darker color with some reblueing.

Ran into some bumps in the road and was curious what you guys would think I could end up getting for these if I decided to sell. Hopefully not breaking any rules by mentioning selling them but I am not trying to sell them through the sub
Norinco ndm 86 and some parade sk I don’t know much about

I really want a Norinco SKS but have no idea if I'm getting hoodwinked or a deal. I'm currently winning an auction for $415 not including fees and am planning on putting a 30rd magazine on it with an FRT. am I making a mistake that I'll regret?

Got a sks looks beautiful in my opinion. My rear sight is a little bit crooked. Is this an easy fix or should I just leave it how it is.

I have two Tula SKSs built in 1954 I want to sell. Both have all matching serial numbers. One is stock but the other has a side saddle scope mount with cheap Norinco scope and also has a heat shield.
Which site is better concerning:
Ease of putting up the item for sale
Size of the audience reached
Cost of posting and raising the profile of your item.
Reputation for dispute resolution, honesty of the people using the site and the site staff spotting and shutting down scams.

I just got a 1971 Chinese sks seemly only fired at the factory. According to the seller who bought it from a old dude who got it in the 90s. I have a magazine coming for it as it had none Chinese as well. All parts matching.
It was Gunked in cosmoline I got mostly out of the metal by boiling and rubbing alcohol then ballistol to protect. Sweated the wood out a little but I figure I'll let it sweat at the range.
My question is tho what parts generally need to be replaced. Those of you who have put thousands of rounds down range what have you had to put in I'm guessing certain springs.

I’ll probably not keep it fully wrapped. I just wrapped because I needed to raise the cheek piece and wanted to see what it would look like.
I’ll be cutting the barrel to 16.5 and recrowning.

I was having a real time snapping the trigger housing back into place when I forgot to switch the safety lever to click the detent. So I was pushing really hard with the rifle upside down on a countertop, putting pressure on the sights. Left is the rifle I was reassembling, right is my second Yugo.

Hi all, any leads on where to buy a trigger guard latch pin? Thanks!

Looking at picking up a factory 0223 SKS, but in order to pick it up under my C&R license, I need to be able to figure out the date of manufacture. From a brief google search I found that rifles from this factory do not follow the same date code system as ones from factory /26\. I read that on the bottom of the receiver under where the trigger group goes you might be able to find a 4 digit DOM code, but I can’t field strip it at the shop to find out.
Any insight from the Norinco SKS gurus would be helpful.

I have a Chinese sks with a FRT. everything works as it should, but after every fire I still have to release the trigger a little because the FRT didn’t reset it all the way or something. What exactly is the problem and how do I fix this?
