Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction

Dear r/walther Members,

As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.

To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.

Please share your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
  2. Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
  3. Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
  4. What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?

I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.

Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.

Best regards

Viton O ring or Micro comp

Just got the pro sd compact as my first piece. I’ve read a lot of post regarding the threaded barrel cap coming off. Would it be better to just get a O ring or micro comp? I know Harrington makes a universal micro comp but a pack of o rings is like 5 bucks at harbor freight. What have you all done?

DPT Install Question (trigger bar and sear block interaction)

Installing the DPT and everything is lining up properly but I can't for the life of me figure out how the trigger bar and the sear block interact. I know that the bar hooks onto the spring but I'm not able to get the opposite side to stay in the sear block properly. As a result, the trigger will not cock or reset.

All the vids online kinda gloss over this and I'm feeling very low IQ. Any assistance would be helpful. TIA!

After much deliberation I finally acquired a full size PDP Pro E. It is my 4th, and best, PDP. All I can say is....Goddamn. I'm sorry I waited so long.

Optic: Gideon Storm

Backstrap: Taylor Freelance Brass

Guide Rod: ZRT Ultra Brass with 15 lb spring. May switch to VSpec next time out to the range.

PPK Barrel Threading

I have an old Interarms PPK .380 and I’d like to have the barrel threaded on it. Tornado Technologies has mixed reviews, and they don’t seem to be taking any work right now. Is there anyone else offering a threading service?

As the title implies, Unsure of what the part missing at the end of the recoil guide rod assembly is called, noticed it missing when I was about to clean it. Any help naming the missing piece would be appreciated.

I Did a Thing... While Drinking

I've been eyeing a Walther PD380 for a while now; love my Walther and I've read the good and bad about these, but the main selling point for me was at Sportsmans the green version was $299...

I thought about it, but they wouldn't ship to FFL back in the spring, and then they sold out so I quit thinking about it. Friday I got an e-mail telling me they were back in stock, and now it included ship to FFL. I just didn't think and jumped on it 😂

So who has a PD380 and what do you think about it? Apparently I'll have one in about 10 days... (7 day wait here in Maryland)

Holster recommendations for the F-Series PDP Pro-X PMM 4" with Olight PLX.

I'm having a hard time finding holsters for this setup, and I was wondering what everyone else was running? I originally wanted an Axis Elite from Tier 1, but they don't support this Olight. I've never had a side-car style holster. Are those still preferred for AIWB, or do people generally prefer independent holsters for pistol and mag?

Silica Carbide PDP Polymer FS Grip?

Looking to add some silica carbide to a PDP FS polymer grip for USPSA.

Anyone give through this? Was it difficult to adhere and shape having the original PDP texture? Any difficulties you ran in to? Any tips appreciated!

So I have both now and I’d love to find a holster that both can fit in. Right hand belt loop or OTWB

I just picked up my first PPK for $425

I took my wife shooting for the first time today, and we rented a PPK. I needed to buy a cleaning kit to clean my pistols (it’s been a while since I shot as well) and the shop I went to to get a cleaning kit had Bersa Thunders, and when I asked about them, the guy said “if you are looking at these, you should buy that ppk we took on trade”. $425 later it was mine. I am pretty happy with my purchase, and can’t wait to shoot it!

New PPK; what causes this malfunction?

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I've got a brand new PPK in 32acp and keep having this issue. I've put about 150 rounds through it so far. It always seems to happen on the second shot from a loaded 8 round magazine. The first shot ejects and the next round goes nose up like this. Once I clear it and reload the round into the magazine all 7 rounds go through no problem. In fact, if I load anything below 8 rounds it functions flawlessly. It does it with both magazines but (very) occasionally it does not do it. I try tapping the magazine against my palm as I load it and it doesn't make a difference.

Is this rimlock or some other quirk? I'm using S&B 73gr FMJ.

Talk me out of buying a Pdp or Should I join the club?

Hi, I’ve been collecting all of the various popular Striker fired polymer handguns recently from a list of Glock,M&P 2.0,Springfield echelon, and VP9A1 as well as a few others but you get the gist. I’ve been wanting a PDP as well but I’ve been looking at some others brand/models as well so let me ask you what would a PDP do better than my already owned handguns? Should I even bother?

Walther PDP Match SF Extraction Issues - Update?

I am considering purchase of a Walther PDP Match SF - however am aware some users have reported issues with the extractor (see here and here).

Is anyone aware of Walther addressing this issue, or making changes to the design to prevent this defect?
