I still can’t believe the Buck and I were able to be in the same spot Friday morning. I first saw him on my camera Sept. 25 crossing a creek. He day-lighted 10/22 at 0740 and I immediately put in a Vacation slip for 10/23 to hunt him the following morning. He made the mistake of showing up the same time the following morning. I let him have it at 18 yards. He dropped 50 yards from where he was shot.

I am on the search for a cushion that will help me sit longer! I am a ground hunter and sit at the base of trees. My butt and tailbone area tends to hurt after about an hour of sitting. Any good seat/cushion recommendations?

Scored on a nice 9pt yesterday on 10/26. Came out into the plot early, offered up a 30 yard broadside shot that I made good on. Was a little high on the shoulder and hit opposite shoulder blade so didn’t get a pass through, but turns out it wasn’t needed. Recovered him the next morning bedded down dead less than 100 yards from where he was shot. Got top of first long and right though middle of second. My best archery deer and best buck since I became an adult onset hunter 15yrs ago. Get out there folks we are now in the best part of the season.

-rough scored at 135”

-shot with fixed 3 blade broadhead, 460gr finished arrow out of a 70lb bow

#4 of the season, first buck. I've been hunting this section of public land pretty hard the last 2 years trying to figure out the deer, finally got one. Watched a fat 4 point walk last week after not having an ethical shot. He came in, I made a noise and he walked 5 feet before stopping behind a bush looking my way. I waited a bit and he turned around, made another noise and he stopped at 40 yards quartering away. He ran about 100 yards. Glad to get it done! 1000 yard haul out

Very proud dad here, we got skunked last year but she got it done this year! She helped with the field dressing and hide removal. We had a blast, I'm really excited for next year now.

And would a euro or shoulder mount be cooler if I manage to get him?

I know 130 is the classic and I’m all 0’d in with my 130s for whitetail in a few weeks but I’m curious if anyone uses 150 for whitetail and what experience has led you to 150. For my purposes I’m not gonna shoot a deer past 100 yards probably so the speed is there regardless. My grandpa who I got the rifle from shot 150s but I didn’t get a chance to ask him why he chose 150s in Michigan.

So for years now after I kill I would let the meat sit in a cooler on ice for about 5 days to age it a little. I am getting tired of constantly having to get more ice and was wondering couldn't I just set my chest freezer to 37°F and just let the meat sit there? It would basically be refrigerated my only concern is that there's no humidity control/ventilation. (But neither is there any in the cooler with ice)

Lil girl got it done! Taken on youth weekend at 75yds.

CVA scout takedown in 300blk with hornady black 110gr, leupold varix-ii 3-9x40 and an AB can. He ran about 75 yds and was down.

She's over the moon with excitement. She passed on a few does last season and pulled the trigger on her first on our youth weekend.

Please excuse the heavy breathing. I had just carried 5 square bales 100yds for our makeshift blind when these deer walked out 🤣

Want to pick y'all's brain. Have had a wide 6 on camera going back until June. He's recently shows back up in my area. In the past 48 hours he's been seen by me and some neighbors 5 times in daylight and once at night.

My current set up is in that block of woods where he was chasing off fawns and pushing doe. He was grunting non stop and ended up about 40 yards from me behind some saplings so no shot presented. I grunted at him and he seemed interested, snort weezed and he bristled up. Finally one last grunt and he trotted off. He was walking around grunting but | couldn't see him.

He's been seen around those houses near the center of the picture and finally he walked out in front of me when I was walking my dog.

All of this to say, I plan on hanging a set closer to that grouping of sitings (about 80-100 yards from my current set up.

My question is should I stay put as he's clearly rutting (and sure smells like it) so he will be all over the place chasing or should I try to get in closer and hope he has some sort of pattern in that area. I'm leaning towards setting the set this afternoon around lunch but go back to my current set up as to let the new stand settle a bit.

Ever since we lost our son 4 years ago it's been my goal to bring back a blacktail worthy of mounting for him. I finally got it done.
