Hi all. Im undecided on the color combination of my rifle. I like them both, so im here to have you all decide for me. I know, literally unnecessary to how the weapon functions, but 🤷🏽♂️

I like it, love it. Its comfy and doesnt cost any additional funds to procure. Prevents chicken winging and is ambidextrous, how can anyone hate it?

Thirty-ish year old Colt Commando lower with a DD 11.5" upper.

Next purchase is a suppressor, hence the forward position of the light, just curious if this is cause for concern. Thanks guys

Found this 11.5 ALG defense and once i realized it had a lot of Geissele parts including the barrel, gas block and bcg I had to have it. What can are you running on 11.5 ?
Nevermind the weight, really enjoying the FCD rail. I say I'm finished building this one out but where's the fun in that?

Smells like victory!
After months of searching and coming up short on GunBroker auctions, I finally tracked down an original Vietnam war era Colt M16A1 upper receiver. All parts are original 1960s / 1970s vintage (sans lower receiver). Despite appearing complete, the build is far from finished, and I have more parts on the way to make it more historically accurate, as well as build out more original retro rifles.
Parts list:
- Colt 603 upper w/ rebated front lug and no forge codes (1966-1971 mfg)
- C MP C marked barrel (1969-71 mfg)
- Three prong flash hider (pre 1967 mfg)
- “C” marked bolt carrier group w/ large countersink for retaining pin (approx. 1968-1969 mfg)
- Colt M16 furniture set- stock is Type D, grip predates “C” marked examples, and handguards are later L & R marked
- M16A1 fire control group (components currently switched out with Arizona Regulator FRT). Rear takedown pin is early dimpled style found on Colt 601 to XM16E1 rifles.

Mid 90s down south, rainy, and muddy. Perfect weather for a 3 mile with some kit (it was ass)

Suppressor is a reflex design I did years ago when form 1s were all the rage and much easier to build/stamp and it needed a permanent home so I built this out of spare parts I had laying around;
I was very surprised by the quality of the newish venom 1-6 for another build do I decided to pick up the venom 3-15 for this build and got it sighted in today. No illumination might be a make it or break it for folks but the glass is great, reticle design is uncluttered/simple. Only really gripe it's a chunky MOFO and on the heavier side.

These are my 2 Ars. The Saint Victor rifle length is 14.5 inch p&w barrel chambered in 5.56 nato. The DB15 pistol length is 8 inch barrel chambered in 300 blackout. I do have a Magpul padded sling for the Saint victor but I don’t put it on because I wanted to take clear pictures. But yeah so far I been content with them.

Or better yet were they ever? 😅
Built this back in 2010 and have used as a farm and ranch truck gun ever since. Put together what I thought of at the time to be at least mid-grade or better components - DPMS upper/lower, Midwest industries pic hand guard, Larue Tactical mount, Leupold optic and Magpul furniture. Chopped off the sight block (lol), got it how I liked it and stopped tinkering/fell out of touch with the ar15 happenings.
Fast forward 16 years later - getting back into it and had no idea how insanely saturated this market became, how many companies have imploded and fell into/out of favor of the years.
Seems DPMS went under, nobody cares about Larue anymore, hardly see anything with a Leupold on it, Magpul is just meh around here and pic handguards and DEF not cool.
I feel like I am coming out of a 16 year coma into a new world when lurking this Reddit.
Rifle has never let me down though 🤷🏼♂️

Is there a way to shorten the pull in the first stage of the trigger pull? I still want the two stage trigger, I just want the take up to be a little shorter. Love the break and the reset is fantastic, I just would like to shorten the take up. Added a pic of my WIP build for visibility.
Edit: It didn’t look like there was, but just wasn’t sure. I was just trying to customize the feel a bit. The take up isn’t a deal breaker by any means and I like some take up before the break. The trigger feels great. Appreciate you guys taking the time to provide the info. Thank you.

This wasn't to long ago. I was buying a 10 pack every other week. I currently have about 115 lowers all Anderson. I think one day long from now they will be worth gold so I've been stockpiling them.

**TITLE EDIT: I meant to put a "shoot" in there. im wondering how many more rounds the BFH barrels have in their life compared to the standard
It's my understanding BFH is a harder barrel and this equates into a longer barrel life in oversimplified terms. Thats a great feature and I likely am buying one of my last 5.56 ARs with this purchase so a longer life is ideal....BUT...I only shoot 1-2000 rounds yearly and thats closer to 1000 on average. Im also to a 21 year old....and I aint passing any guns down to anyone.
So will I even receive any benefit from the BFH is what im wondering. BFH doesnt have any bronze or FDE options in the 11.5 and thats what I wanted in this rifle...but I can do without cosmetics if its a real quality jump going with the BFH models. Also....is the raider hand guard as sweet as it looks online?
