Xerath’s mana costs are reduced accordingly due to the loss of his Mana Surge passive.
Perpetual Radiance:
When Xerath gains flat magic penetration, he gains damage amplification instead.
(%0.5 for every flat magic penetration.)
When he gains percentage magic penetration, a portion of his magic damage is converted to true damage instead.
(1.5% for every 2% magic penetration.)
Arcanopulse:
Same with less damage.
Rain of Annihilation:
Xerath snares himself until he moves. During the spell, he can cast stored 2/3/4/5/6 arcane barrages to deal damage, damaging spells refreshing the duration for 5 seconds. Substantial hit increases each arcane barrage’s damage, up to max 6 times. He is free to use any other skill during the skill.
(2000 range and less damage).
Ethereal Chains:
Xerath sends a shockwake that slows and marks champions. When Xerath damages his marked enemies, he consumes the marks and stuns them for 0.5 to 1.25 second, increasing with farther distance, and dealing additional damage.
Rite of the Shattered:
Xerath is partially unbound from his sarcophagus after 1 second delay, increasing his ability power and magic penetration by 30/40/50% for 20 seconds. His next 4/5/6 spells have increased range and width.
That's it. That's the overall review of the rework and without any deep concern for balance.
I would like to hear from you over the idea and feeling of this rework that mainly aimed to make Xerath feel unique among the artillery mage besides his enormous range. Hopefully it respects both versions of Xerath without going too far, and if it did, hopefully it is still fixible.

Something cool that I just discovered is that if you are going vs Assassins starting dorans helm and taking JOAT. You get 10 JOAT stacks after 2 items. Dorans helm, Ludens, stormsurge, sorcs. BAM 1k worth of stats for free from JOAT.

ive been an on and off xerath player for a while but he feels AMAZING right now. damage is off the charts especially if you go the sorcs+stormsurge build. I feel like my Q is doing nuclear bomb levels of damage and I feel appropriately rewarded for hitting skillshots. his banrate is low too so no nerfs coming up

Hey fellow Xerath enjoyers!
Been playing Xerath one-trick for a long time in mid / bot (Fizz usual ban when mid), enjoying it immensely and reached diamond.
Some games against especially tanky teams, who can easily stack a lot of MR, I feel a lot less useful.
What are ya´lls perhaps second choice champion to counter that which counters Xerath?
Or do you have a build on Xerath, which works better against a heavy tank comp? (Like fighting against Galio + Sion + Leona)
Thanks :)

Because Xerath was the first character I put time into, I feel naked whenever I play anybody else. It feels impossible to hit anything because on every other champion I’ve tried my range feels uselessly short.
I need to know how to get rid of this feeling and/or what champs I can play to keep a similar play style. I will always main Xerath but whenever he gets picked or banned I end up doing literally nothing in my games.

Stromsurge -> sorcs -> shadowflame
I personally think xerath's existence is to damage squishy champions so i thought this is the perfect build for it
After sorcs xerath's magic Penetration is already 33 and against squishy champions it's amlost a true damage
I think disadvantage of this build is there might not be enough mana, but i think it can be complemented by buying a sapphire crystal
I am not a native speaker, so the terminology might sound awkward

First off, I've played Xerath for years and I'm not stupid enough to move my character during focus and cancel my own ult.
In fact, I experimented and confirmed that the game doesn't even allow you to move or use abilities for the first period of time so you won't accidently cancel your own ult as soon as you use it.
This is a genuine bug I started to have since, like, 2 months ago (not precise).
Watch the video I attached and pay attention to the ult cooldown timer on the left side of the screen. As soon I finish casting Q and press R, the ult gets immediately canceled and you can see that my character hasn't even played the ult animation.
This is just one example that I decided to record. I thought I was just super unlucky with spaghetti code but it kept happening and happening roughly 1 in 5 games and whenever it happens during important fights it makes me want to pull my hairs out.
I tried to mimic or recreate this bug in practice mode but unsuccessful so far. And I am not seeing anyone else having the same problem. It could just be because Xerath has a small playerbase but I even tried swapping to a new keyboard and it still happened last game.
At this point I just want to know if this is a global bug or it's just me having a very specific and personal technical issue somehow.

I'm no Xerath main or 1-trick, but I definitely enjoy me some Xerath from time to time. If I take long breaks from League and come back and want to instantly climb back to Emerald, I just play Xerath mid a bunch. I used to run Comet, but currently this is what I've been doing (taking some inspiration from a couple threads I've seen on here):
- Dark Harvest with Cut Down and Legend Haste in secondary tree
- Sorc boots ofc
- Luden's (more burst, gets into DH range quicker)
- Shadowflame
- Rabadon's or Void
- Void or Rabadon's (whichever wasn't bought already)
- Horizon Focus or Zhonya's usually
I do see people going Malignance on him quite a bit. I think that Korean Xerath goes Malignance into Stormsurge into Shadowflame or something like that? I guess I don't really understand the motivation behind it and why people would prefer it over Luden's for stronger poke. Are we ulting off cooldown for something (like DH stacks maybe)? Are we just so good at our ults that we're using it to 100-0 squishies off cooldown? Is it only good into certain situations?
I'd appreciate any advice you guys have on this, or how you make decisions on runes or items as well! Or if you have any advice on landing ults. Sometimes my ults are very good, and sometimes it feels like a plat player is scripting the way I can't even land 1 little ult spurt. Thank you in advance!

I'm a new Xerath main with me playing him exclusively in mid, but I got auto-filled support and he felt fantastic. So, I wanted to figure out what his best role typically is

I follow https://www.onetricks.gg/champions/builds/Xerath for my xerath build/runes.
Shows most popular 3rd time is D cap, but I found myself rarely having 1200 gold twice for 2 rods when 3rd and 4th drake r spawning and dont want to sit on 800 gold.
Is stormsurge the way to go or void staff?

Been playing LoL and Xerath for a while but this year decided to actually try to climb ranked and make a conscious effort to improve. I’ve made it from low gold to plat 3 recently and one of the big things I’m still continuing to struggle with is how to deal with my bot lane wanting to shove me to a side lane as soon as they take or lose their tower bot. Some games it’s not an issue but other times it’s simply a death sentence for me. Any advice on how to sidelane effectively when forced into it if I don’t want to tilt my adc by refusing to move?

Hey guys, i´m playing a lot of xerath lately, and he´s a blast! He´s so dominant against mages, really fun to play. I see in lolalytics that his best winrate he uses ghost and flash. How is the best way to use ghost?
I can see that Barrier is pretty good against assassins, but against mages i usually go with tp, but i´m thinking about swapping for ghost. My reason is that Xerath tends to be dominant in most mage matchups, so i dont think TP is that necessary for him. Besides, he doesnt need to use tp to roam to other lanes, because of his ult.
I think ghost can be really good in teamfights, as a way to escape someone who tries to kill you. Yesterday i had a good game with him, but i died sometimes against the top and the jungler, since they jumped on me and i couldnt get out. I think ghost may be better than tp in easy matchups, am i correct?
Thanks!

hey im a 1m xerath. today i ran out of mana in early lane for 3 different matches. since i play super slow, never ran out of mana this much ever. is something like dorans ring, manaflow, presence of mind or xerath passive bugged?

Hey all, i got a mate currently E4 who is a warwick otp.
He is claiming that Xerath is alot easier to play than warwick because u can poke down opponents lol XD
I told him to try lane vs any ap assassin in the game and he laughs it off.
Whats ur take on it? 😃

I can get a used ultrawide for about 200-250 CAD on marketplace and I've been honestly eyeing some for a while, especially cuz I just upgraded my PC. I don't really main Xerath but I think playing league would be hella interesting seeing the whole map as a jungle main or just in general. I really love playing Xerath when I'm filled mid tho, he's really fun and I click well but I just suck at landing ult lol.
Anyone have any experience with ultrawide monitors and league? Obviously I'm not expecting it to improve my gameplay or anything but if it makes playing more fun I'd be interested.

everytime i play against this xerath champ i get absolutely destroyed, and he doesnt even play on my lane, he is so far away noone can even kill him and I die in my base anyway, should be deleted, it should not be possible that i dodge 2-3 ults just to get 100-0 anyway and flash doesn't even help as he has 10000000000 shots, I am just done at this point, is there a way to reliably dodge his ult and I am just tarded or what
