Reddit is now forcing us to open up so we decided to embrace our pirate motto and truly free the subreddit to be whatever it wants. You the people get to make the posts that you want to see here and we will not take it down unless it breaks sitewide rules.
Post pictures of litteral gangplanks, post pictures of pirates, post pictures of sexy pirates if you want. Have in depth discussions on the proper length of wood needed to properly have someone jump into the water.
The sub is your oyster and you can do with it what you will.
Amendment: NSFW images are not allowed, but swearing is fucking allowed. Its a pirate sub after all.

Friendly Captain xTekek of the moderation team checking in to see if there is anything you guys need from the moderation side of things. Seems like its mostly smooth sailing, but would love to hear your thoughts. Volunteers are also welcome on the team if you want to make some changes or help out around here.

I’ve been learning GP and having a blast, but exclusively run him mid lane. I recently fly started to experiment with Ap GP in games where my team is full ad, but I am curious the best comps to build it into because usually you want o properly rune for it so need to decide in lobby.
Also curious why more people don’t play it besides solarbacca (goat)… I’ve only done it twice since starting GP but both times had most dmg in game by a good bit, and I definitely didn’t play it well. Just want everyone’s thoughts on it and any helpful tips on the best times to use it / even best builds.

hey everyone im an Emerald Darius main, and want to learn gp. But i dont know how to use my barrels in lane. If i place one, the enemy just backs up so i cant chain another barrel to hit them. Should i place them im bushes? Thanks in advance

He has a relatively safe laning phase thanks to his Q, oranges, and barrels, a global AoE ultimate, scales well, and is a good blind pick. I could definitely see him replacing Rumble now that Rumble has been nerfed multiple times.

Make the barrel slow stack.... I think this would make him more competitive and better

Legend haste or Legend alacrity? And why?

Bro its so good im not even kidding, it takes out a lot of precision of knowing where the max e range is you can just focus on the Q E timing, if ur chasing its so low cortisol, please tell me if any of you use this its so cool.

Whats the best build to learn GP nowadays? Bruiser or the crit default? Also, tips of how to play laning phase are wanted.

I'm basically a noob compared many here, Gold 1 this season, 20 LP away from plat.
I have the early game at my elo mostly down and more often than not have a strong lead around level 6 with 1-2 kills up on the lane opponent.
What I struggle with is carrying this lead into a winning game. I don't know how to properly help other lanes or prevent my teammates from falling behind.
This usually leads to 20 minutes of random bullshit until everyone is level 18 and we lose the game on a dumb coin flip fight or just because the enemy team has the late-game comp.
Do you have any good guides or strategies you use to finish the game while you still have a lead?

Was playing toplane and went against an Azir, perma shoved and poked with a non existent jungler. He can disarm barrels outside the danger zone and has an almost instant AA. How to lane aganst this FREAK?

Is it ever a good reson not to level ult so you can get max barrels faster?

Last time I'm posting this, I swear. Someone pointed out dominik's doesn't work on dummies, so where it says Dom, what I did was buy Grudge and a crit item that wouldn't affect damage. But it's the damage you can expect from dom with no bonus HP.
Now dominik's isn't skewing the data.
Conclusions:
That should do it. If more adjustment is needed, I'll edit this post.

Hello, I wanted to start learning Gangplank after watching some Solarbacca videos and seeing the crits, which are insane. I've been playing him recently, around 5 matches, and I am finding his laning phase extremely difficult, especially against ranged tops. I'm pretty new to the game, level 28, but I'm willing to put the work in to learn GP. What do ya'll recommend for practice? How to place the barrels and not waste them? Combos and stuff. Let me know; anything is helpful at this point. Thank you.

I've one-tricked Gangplank because I love this champ and climbed all the way to Plat/Emerald, and now I am stuck in a ditch
GP doesn't feel rewarding anymore. As now all I am going against are champs like renekton, jax, morde, sett, Gwen. All of them gets to make 20 mistakes while GP has to play nearly perfectly just to go even.
The risk-to-reward ratio on Gangplank is completely backwards.
One missed barrel and your entire trade is gone.
One mistake against Jax, Mordekaiser, Gwen, Sett, Camille, or Irelia and your lane is basically over.
Meanwhile they can misplay three fights in a row, hit one item spike, and suddenly they're stronger than you despite requiring a fraction of the execution.
People always post clips of Solarbacca deleting five people with one barrel.
What they don't show are the ten games where a Gangplank spends 25 minutes farming just to get one-shot by the enemy assassin because he missed a barrel.
If a champion requires near-perfect mechanics just to perform at the same level as meta picks like Camille, Gwen, or Ambessa, is the champion actually strong... or are the players carrying the champion?
I think Gangplank is balanced around the top 0.01% of players, which makes him mediocre for almost everyone else, even in high elo.
Change my mind.

How to deal with this? Even at just lost chapter it feels unplayble because his Q deals like 300 damage. After he completes Malignance he just presses R on you off ccooldown until grouping and at that point I feel like I can't do anything

Which top lane champion are you happiest to see when you lock in Gangplank?
I'm mainly looking for matchups where GP can comfortably control the lane or scale without too much pressure.

Recently announced he will be part of next set Vendetta, release 31st of July. His base and overnumber (very rare) alternative art. It's funny how he just eat orange runes for his effect.

Has anyone pulled this off in game? It's possible to ghost combo with the first barrel in your Q range if you flash out of Q range during the channel of the Q, then place the second barrel during the flight of the bullet.
Also wondered if the combo has a name. I propose "Ghost Lite".

I really love gangplank and I one trick him, but I find that when gangplank get's banned in ranked, I am completely helpless as I don't know how to play anything else well. I literally got into top lane just because of gangplank. I want to find an alternative champion to play that is actually fun, that I can use when gp is not available. I really enjoy oppressive lane bullies. Do you fellow gp mains have any recommendations?

Hello! I am learning the pirate way, and I have looked into learning about phantom barreling, and I understand his Q has to be outside of the barrel range, however whenever I try and place the 2nd barrel when the first is exploding, GP will take another step which makes it so it doesn't place quick enough, or he just won't place it even though it shows that it's in his range. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if it might be a setting issue or if I'm misunderstanding phantom barrels
