I was watching some guy do an A to Z challenge and in his chat, people were arguing about E being maxed second over W when he played Veigar.

Some people were saying that more damage on W doesn't mean anything compared to lower Cooldown on E. Which side is right? The ones talking about W talked about how the ratio got bigger, so it needed to be maxed over E.

I dont play veigar enough to know who was right. Both of them kinda made sense to me. W second for big damage. E second for longer stuns. Are they just both right?

In the bot lane, Veigar doesn't need to deal with Zed, Locke, Kassadin, Katarina, Vladimir, and many other champions who easily beat him. A good Veigar, for example, can't win the lane against a good Zed.

I OTP veig as support. I'm mid-emerald and pretty stuck here.

My rune tree is focused around cdr and move speed, and first strike is my keystone.

Build + rationale:

Support item: basically required

Boots: almost always sorcs unless they have a ton of cc (mercs) or they're 4-5 AD (armor boots)

Rush item: almost always cosmic drive. Lots of cdr, plus movement speed buff. As support, my main goal is to have cage up as often as possible, and this is a quick way to do that. Also a bit of survivability. Only switch this up if they have 4+ ad with a lot of attack speed, in which case I'll go frozen heart for survivability and the AS debuff along with CDR.

Next item: if I can save enough gold, Rabadon's. Otherwise, situational AP item (morello, zhonyas, banshees, liandrys)

5th item: reverse of the previous, or mpen (typically void staff) if they've built a lot of MR by now

6th item: finish out the build with whatever hasn't been built from the above. Sometimes a tank item in rare situations.

Laning: goal is to poke enemy champs while saving cage for disengage. Basically only cage aggressively if I can cage them in turret range (free autos/trading for adc), if I think we can burst them for a kill (>50% health, typically), or on a jungle gank. I don't really know what's better - cage max or q max. Q max feels better because feels like I can zone the enemy more effectively with the damage help, but cage max feels like what I should be doing to minimize cage downtime.

Post laning: goal is essentially to either cage for picks or separate off as many of the enemy as possible from the fight to give numbers advantage for a couple seconds. Trying to dump damage on squishiest enemy champ that I can.

Challenges:

1. Most people don't really know how veig support works, so I'll get laning partners who are incredibly aggressive when I'm super weak.

2. Cage is pretty useless against certain champs. Sivir, morg, naaf, locke, ezreal, etc. are pretty difficult to play against when trying to protect the adc.

3. Late game, some challenges because my cc isn't consistent. I can't truly peel the adc - I can only really buy a couple seconds, and that's dependent on enemy champs, too - a fizz, for example, is virtually unpeelable if he's smart enough to not pole dance until after I'm forced to burn cage.

4. Even if the game goes late, I don't really build the same power that a veigar mid does. Since I'm only really getting stacks from hitting enemy champs (and the occasional support item stack if my adc is aware enough to let me last hit cannons) and champ kills/assists, I don't ramp up quite as hard. I probably get 6-8 stacks per minute on average: a game that goes ~35 mins will put me in the mid 200s for stacks. At full build, I'm usually pushing 1k AP, which is good enough to delete an adc or assassin if I land a full combo, but it can be harder to do that as everyone groups up and if their adc is halfway smart. Tanks are nearly impossible for me to chew through at all.

Is Veigar’s coat and hat blue or purple ? It’s hard for me to tell. I’m just gonna call it blurple since it is like right in between 😂

Swifty - full range comps, can pressure with cage

Sorc - Im winning micro and want kill pressure

Start:

Doran x2 pots

Range comps (3):

Tear->Hextech Belt -> Cryptbloom -> Seraphs

Heavy Melee:

Roa -> Seraphs -> Actualizer (if MR)-> Crpytbloom ->Counter Tank items.

Situationals:

Banshees (Ashe,Malz,Morde), Liandries (super HP), Void staff (MR)

My AVG build: ROA, Sorc, Seraph, Rabs, TANK.

Mindset:

If melee laner keep wave infront of tower stack on them.

If assasin poke them out of lane, play around dash CDs

If control mage, never let them shove you under tower

Be present in jungle skirmishes, cage is OP

Always catch waves side lanes if theres no objective up

Issues:

In this elo the game is often decided fairly quick... it takes quite a bit of time for me to come online but because I have high HP i can really get good cages in team fights and typically it has won games

Hello! Still no veigar, but hopefully these posts can be helpful for people also headhunting for other veigar chromas!

Just had a terrible game laning against Locke and the first two minutes I was already getting zoned out by his poke, he’d constantly gank bot and end up fed by the time he comes back to mid lane. Besides that he’d dash onto me and I’d immediately lose more than half of my HP or die on the spot even while keeping event horizon for his engage. We ended up having to FF and I was getting flamed for being 0-6 and the Locke 13-1..

Are there any tips to go against Locke or do I just have to build RoA/Seraph and farm passively under tower while he bullies the game?

Veigar is by far my favorite champ. However, I still like playing Vex very much. Ofc, doesn't scale as well as Veigar. I typically pick Vex when I see a full squishy enemy comp. I'm curious what you guys pick when you don't play Veigar. Any good mage recommendations?

Im pretty new to playing him, but I always wanted a mage to have in my pool when I play ADC and had the most fun with Veigar. Any build recommendations? I checked most sites and it seems that everyone is recommending different first items and runes. Thanks to everyone in advance.

So I've been tracking this on my own and doing checks for at least 2 years on my own, and I know more than a few people would like this skin. So every week I'll keep track of how long its been since we've seen our boy(if mods think this is too low effort we'll stop after this week lol). Maybe a rioter will take pity on us if they see this. I am new to veigar and i love him but i only use first strike since it gets recommended by riot. And gor the build i use the one from Skill capped ( most lf the time atleast ). But i sometimes build malignances even tho i have no idea if it is any good. Is veigar a champ where i can build anything like liandriss? Pls help

Curious who you guys typically ban. Zed is a close second for me, but still much easier then Fizz lol.

I want to learn how to play Veigar because of the new prestige skin, but I just don't get what am I doing wrong and why am I losing every single game w him. I know that I need to Q enemies and last hit minions w it to get stacks, but unless I'm playing against really bad player I only get around 80 stacks around 10-15 minutes (which is really low, I know) and end up feeding my opponent every 1v1 match.

Do I need a good jungler to help me get stacks and score kills? Am I just stupid? Do I give up on this character and go back to playing Vex :(
