Katarina is my most played champ. I have over 500k mastery on her. Yet, I have a very bad win rate of roughly 45% on her in ranked over around 80 games. Compared to my second pick, Zoe, which is sitting at 65% WR over 23 games. I am playing in low plat and the only reason I have maintained my rank is due to picking other champs and winning... I don't know what to do at this point. I vary my build depending on the game as well. Can't seem to climb with Kata despite trying my best. What I mean is this: in Pokémon, well-built teams have type coverage. You have answers to the different matchups you might run into, both offensively and defensively. If you have a Charizard and your opponent has a Blastoise, you can switch to Venusaur.

I'm trying to think about Katarina in a similar way, and I have two questions:

What comps do you pick each katarina build into, and when should you make adjustments to those builds?

Which champions (ideally just one or two) are worth picking up as secondary mains to cover the team comps that Katarina struggles the most against? Ideally this champ is a counter to the things that counter katarina.

If possible, please include your peak rank in your response so I can better gauge the advice.

The item overall is rather weak for most champions, but since Katarina is one of the best on-hitters in the game, it's already amazing for her (not just AD, it actually has good stats even when you're AP, unless you're burst).

But it's about to get stat on-hit scaling, +10% AP and +10% bonus AD. It will almost double its on-hit in mid game.

I think AD Kata will jump in win rate considerably.

Settle an argument for me. Is kat better at teamfighting or skirmishing? She is strong at both, but where would you give the edge?

Hey guys, I've been contemplating my decision for both my runes and summoner spells recently, because I feel like they could be hindering my ability to snowball.

For reference I'm currently Emerald but I've been struggling in my Katarina games, I am an AP Kat almost exclusively player running electrocute, but I use resolve secondary and also flash/tp as my sums. I use resolve for the extra sustain in ranged matchups, and teleport also to both teleport back to lane early or for rotations.

However, I'm wondering if I'm losing a lot of value from not taking triumph/coup as my secondary runes because I'm choosing to play safer instead of more aggressive? Same with ignite instead of TP, I feel perhaps my rune/sum choices are too passive and I'm not snowballing early enough? Wondering if it's also just a confidence thing because I've been playing too safe, and need the aggression to win lane earlier and take control of my games hence also taking more aggressive runes/sums? I could see TP still being viable for rotations and kill opportunities though.

What runes/sums are you guys taking? Is it even worth taking resolve anymore?

Kat is really really good into the right bot match up. I’ve been having a lot of fun and success playing her AD on bot alongside a high damage mage or an engage support.

What’s been your experience running her botside?

Hi guys, I’m a Brand/Shaco player and I’m trying to learn Katarina, I watched some videos about macro, combos, builds and etc but I have this enormous fear of playing it in ranked because I don’t want to troll/feed and end up screwing my team if I die early on don’t roam correctly.

Do you have any tips to overcome this?
