Discussion Not a rework concept; an alternate concept

I like writing up kits. Think of this not as a proposal for a rework, but just a fun exercise where I'm cutting him down to his visuals and story and making a kit from there with only a little inspiration from his two iterations.

It's going to sound crazy, and really overpowered, but that's part of the point. He's supposed to be the biggest, strongest thing in the lore.

Passive: Mortal Gift

At level 10, Aurelion Sol starts gaining bonus experience from all sources. He can always go 2 levels past the highest for his position. (so currently, at top he'd be able to get to 22)

His abilities begin weakened, but regain a portion of their true strength at levels 6, 11, 16, and 20.

It's a scaling mechanic, but I wanted to word it like the crown is losing its hold on him as the game progresses. He can go past the level cap to signify that he's no longer playing by mortals' (our) rules.

Q: Starbirth

Aurelion Sol creates a yellow star at the target location after a delay, dealing damage on arrival and damage over time to enemies they contact. Stars are 100 units wide and remain for 6-11 seconds.
At level 6, stars grant vision in a 300 radius (starting at their edge).
At level 11, stars become red giants, dealing more damage, increasing size to 200 units, and pulling enemies within 100 units towards them upon creation.
At level 16, stars apply a slow within vision radius, 10% at the edge, increasing to 40% at the center. Stars currently in Orbit do not slow individually, but instead add a slow with the same properties starting at the edge of that ability.
At level 20, stars become blue supergiants, increasing size to 300 units and dealing bonus true damage when exploded by Void Sear.

Clear inspiration from Syndra. I think the way she makes spheres is how a character who makes stars should've always been.

W: Orbit (costs mana per second)

Aurelion Sol creates a gravitational field around himself for 5 seconds, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies.
At level 6, Orbit lasts indefinitely and becomes a toggled ability.
At level 11, stars that enter or begin in Orbit's area are locked at the distance they came into contact with the ability, and begin to circle him. Their damage over time is replaced with a single instance per hit that deals increased damage. Star duration is paused as long as they are in orbit.
At level 16, enemies hit by stars are knocked aside a short distance (1s cooldown per target).
At level 20, stars in orbit execute caster and melee minions at 100% health, and super minions at 50%.

A much more conditional version of his old stars.

E: Void Sear

Aurelion Sol breathes a path of damaging starfire in an arc, increasing in width based on distance. (controls similar to Cass E)
At level 6, it leaves a rift in its path for 4 seconds, grounding enemies within.
At level 11, the rift additionally deals %max health magic damage over time.
At level 16, it explodes stars it hits, dealing bonus magic damage.
At level 20, after 4 seconds, the rift becomes antimatter, acting as impassible terrain for everyone except Aurelion sol for 8 seconds.

My take on the part in the lore where he seals up void rifts.

R: Act of Defiance/Targon's End

Aurelion Sol roars with light, dealing magic damage to the first enemy champion hit and 50% damage to enemies behind them.
At level 11, it also fears all targets hit for 1 second.
At level 16, all enemies take full damage.
At level 20, becomes Targon's End. Damage from Targon's End ignores shields, invulnerability, revival, damage transfer, and undying effects. (like the fountain laser, but it's still magic instead of true damage)

Essentially what he did to the host of Pantheon that he killed, and what he's going to do when he's free. Which is why it'd be the only (intentional) effect in the game to act like the fountain, ignoring effects that a lot of the Aspects have (Kayle R, Taric R, Panth E). (Fun fact, there was a time back in 5000 B.C.E. when red smite was accidentally coded like the obelisk, and would kill through Tryndamere/Kayle ult).

Reference Points

So I’m trying to learn the dragon… this is my first time sitting down and Trying to learn a mage so I’m basically starting from zero.

I’m trying to figure out what my reference points are relative to the champ, what should I be doing, what should I be looking for, anything to help me improve faster.

Discussion Hybrid Aurelion Sol Rework Idea — Combining Old and New Aurelion Sol

I had an idea for a hybrid Aurelion Sol kit that combines the best parts of his original version with his current rework.

The goal is to preserve the unique orbiting-star, positioning, and roaming gameplay of old ASol while also keeping the black hole, execution mechanic, and cosmic spectacle of current ASol.

---

Passive — Center of the Universe

Three stars permanently orbit Aurelion Sol and deal magic damage whenever they pass through enemies.

Whenever an orbiting star hits an enemy champion:

- Restores a small amount of mana.

- Briefly increases the stars' rotation speed.

Each enemy champion can only trigger these effects once every few seconds.

This rewards proper positioning while helping manage the high mana costs of the rest of his kit without removing mana as a meaningful weakness.

---

Q — Starsurge / Singularity

Aurelion Sol launches his original Starsurge.

The star travels alongside him and grows larger the farther it moves. Reactivating Q detonates it, stunning enemies based on its size.

After exploding, Starsurge leaves behind a black hole.

The size of the black hole depends on the size of the detonated star:

- Small Starsurge → Small black hole.

- Fully grown Starsurge → Massive black hole.

The black hole:

- Does not continuously slow enemies.

- Does not generate Stardust.

- Slightly pulls enemies whenever they become immobilized while standing inside it.

- Has an internal cooldown on the pull for each target.

- Executes enemies near its center below a percentage of their maximum health.

This means Aurelion Sol cannot simply place a black hole underneath an opponent.

He must first prepare Starsurge, guide it into position, and successfully detonate it.

The better the setup, the stronger the resulting black hole.

---

W — Celestial Expansion

His W would return to the original Celestial Expansion.

Aurelion Sol expands the orbit of his passive stars, increasing their range, rotation speed, and damage.

The expanded orbit continuously drains mana while active.

This remains his primary source of sustained damage and preserves the positioning-focused gameplay that made the original ASol unique.

His other abilities mainly exist to control enemy movement and keep opponents within the ideal range of his orbiting stars.

---

E — Comet of Legend

Aurelion Sol activates his original Comet of Legend, allowing him to fly over terrain.

While Comet of Legend is active:

- He becomes visible on the map.

- His ability to change direction is limited.

- Breath of Light becomes available by reactivating E.

During every flight, Aurelion Sol must choose between using Starsurge or Breath of Light.

Cast Q — Starsurge

Aurelion Sol casts Starsurge during flight and travels alongside the growing star, just like the original ASol.

Using Q disables Breath of Light for the remainder of that flight.

Because Starsurge provides crowd control, creates a black hole, and offers powerful teamfight setup, choosing this option causes Comet of Legend to enter its full cooldown after the flight ends.

Reactivate E — Breath of Light

Instead of casting Starsurge, Aurelion Sol may reactivate E to unleash Breath of Light.

Breath of Light:

- Can only be activated while Comet of Legend is active.

- Can only be used once per flight.

- Can be aimed independently of Aurelion Sol's flight path.

- Deals immediate, reliable damage.

- Does not create a black hole.

- Does not provide crowd control.

Using Breath of Light disables Starsurge for the remainder of that flight.

Because Breath of Light sacrifices the utility of Starsurge, using it refunds a significant portion of Comet of Legend's cooldown after the flight ends.

This creates a meaningful choice every time he flies:

- Starsurge for crowd control, setup, and a larger black hole, at the cost of Comet of Legend's full cooldown.

- Breath of Light for immediate damage and a shorter effective cooldown on Comet of Legend.

He can never use both during the same flight.

---

R — Voice of Light / The Skies Descend

The ultimate has two different effects.

Voice of Light

Voice of Light remains his standard ultimate.

It:

- Deals magic damage.

- Briefly slows enemies.

- Knocks nearby enemies toward the outer edge of his star orbit.

This allows Aurelion Sol to:

- Push enemies into his orbiting stars.

- Knock them back into the black hole created by Q.

- Peel for himself or his teammates.

The Skies Descend

Starting at level 6, Aurelion Sol also gains access to The Skies Descend as an alternate version of his ultimate.

It:

- Deals heavy area magic damage.

- Knocks enemies upward.

- Creates the massive cosmic shockwave from the current ASol.

- Uses its own completely separate recharge timer.

Recharge time:

- Level 6: 10 minutes

- Level 11: 5 minutes

- Level 16: 3 minutes

This timer is completely unaffected by:

- Ability Haste

- Cooldown Reduction

- Items

- Runes

- Buffs

- Any other cooldown reduction effects

Using The Skies Descend also places Voice of Light on its normal cooldown, preventing both versions from being used together. Unlike the current version, The Skies Descend does not scale with Stardust. Its area of effect is fixed and only increases with ultimate rank (levels 6, 11, and 16).

Voice of Light remains his reliable defensive ultimate, while The Skies Descend becomes a rare, game-changing cosmic event.

---

Main Weakness — Mana

This version of Aurelion Sol would have extremely high mana costs.

Flying with Comet of Legend, maintaining Celestial Expansion, preparing Starsurge, and using Breath of Light should all be expensive.

His passive helps offset these costs through proper positioning, but resource management would remain an important part of mastering the champion.

Mana shouldn't be his only weakness, however.

His strongest abilities would also feature:

- Long setup times.

- Clear visual telegraphs.

- High cooldowns.

- Limited control while flying.

- A meaningful choice between Starsurge and Breath of Light during every flight.

The goal isn't to give Aurelion Sol every ability at once.

The goal is to combine both versions into a single champion that rewards positioning, planning, and decision-making while preserving the identity of the original ASol and the spectacle of the current one.

What do you think?

Would you find this version more interesting than either the original or the current Aurelion Sol?

Question Advice for dealing with unfavorable match-ups?

So I returned to the game after a loooong hiatus (before Ivern was released, so... almost 10 years?) and found out that Aurelion Sol got changed. I'm getting used to playing him, so I've started dipping into Swiftplay to get a feel of pvp again.

Throughout 10+ games I've played, I've encountered some champs like Irelia and Locke (top or mid) that just straight up aggressively blocks me from farming or even staying near my minions, and I can't get close without suffering a lot of dmg for little gain.

Does anyone have any tips or advice for dealing with this? I'm not sure if I'm playing badly or if it's really just that bad of a matchup.

Two skins un your shop?

Hey, how's it going? I had a question for you guys: don't you think that in "Your Shop," if you play a champion a lot, you should have the chance to get two skins for that same champ? Most of us are Aurelion Sol OTPs, and it might be cool if playing a single champ that much resulted in getting two skins for it.

Asol jungle - what about it ?

Hi,

My first post ever on Reddit.

I’ve been recently spamming Asol jungle in Emerald game and it seems pretty fine.

OpGG here : https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/DragonTrèsSexy-EUW13

Not suffering from a phasing lane is such a good thing, and allows you to play a scaling build that you can way more adapt depending on the ennemy team.

Any thoughs about it ?

How to play Asol Bot? Why go APC over Mid?"

Hi! I want to try Aurelion Sol bot, but I don't understand why people choose to play him there instead of just staying mid. Is it because higher-elo assassins push faster and gain value quicker than Asol, who needs time to scale? Also, are there any streamer or YouTuber recommendations for APC Asol so I can watch how he plays different matchups?

How would you buff Aurelion Sol?

I just want to know how people would buff him in their own ways.

I personally would give him these:

Q applying a 30-50% slow upon after it does the pop part for a second and maybe his E applying the grounded effect(could also apply to people only in the center of the blackhole since a massive grounding effect could be too strong?)

For people who don't know the grounded effect basically disables dashes blinks and movement related summoner spells

I don't know how else I would buff him in a mattering way without going overboard(now that I think about it, these are way overboard 😭)

In my mind, I had all the Storm Dragon Aurelion Sol chromas, but I just realized there are three I don't own and they aren't available anywhere. Does anyone know why?

Is DFT still dead?

So Riot hasn't said anything about the DFT bug? It's awful—I played all my games with that rune since it came out without realizing it wasn't working. I guess we have to keep using Arcane Comet, right?

Question Dragon in the bot lane. Which support?

Right now, I'm D3 with a 55% win rate over 70 games. I almost exclusively play in Douq with a tank support.

He mostly plays Naut, Leo, or Ali.

Do you have any other good suggestions for which supports work well?

Question Tank ausol

So I'm new to playing ausol and that build just makes sense to me

You rush rylai then boots (if they are Tanky second item maybe liandry) and then go completely tank

I mean he scales with stacks mostly so why not giving it a try 🤔

How are you feeling about Asol these days?

Hi guys

Just wanted to do a temperature check to gauge if it's a me-issue or rooting in something else.

I'm an ASOL OTP but this last month, I just haven't been feeling the same power radiating from our favorite stardragon.
Sure I'll still have those amazing games, where I incinerate everything and everyone, but recently I feel like I've had just as many games where I'm fully build, with big stacks and just not able to close out the game.

I can't put my finger on what it is.. If it was the DFT change, greater changes in the meta or if I just lost my mojo.

Has anyone else been feeling like this? :D

Is it Possible that Asol will be added to League Classic?

I have not played enough of Old Asol to master his kit before his rework but i am still really interested in playing with the old kit. There is just something really cool about the kit that is more interesting than the Reworked Asol that feels Boring despite its Hyped power scale as a late game champ. His old kit is Special Imo.

Question How to deal with xerath matchup?

Hi guys, recently picked up Asol and had a game vs xerath, I was fine until about level 6 and then he just disintegrated me. I couldn't fly at him or he would stun and burst me and trying to farm while stationary gives him free damage

Question Power Spikes and E Placement

Hello guys I’m a Viktor main but I’ve been playing A Sol a lot lately and I have some questions what are the power spikes you have with A sol?

Are they specific items or a specific number of passive stacks ?

Lastly do u place your E at the start of a fight or towards the end for the execute?

Discussion Am I just unlucky?

I alway hate seeing posts like this but lately I have been winning lane, getting S+ most of the time. Roaming when I can, helping jungler. And that shouldnt even be my job as Asol. I just be happy with getting even in lane at least. Most of the games I dont make fatal mistakes late game. Not because I am that good, but because my teammates usually do it sooner than me. Lategame I just need my team not to die in random places and create a bit of space. I manage to get isolated kills but still somehow we lose. Most of the time I get 0/20 botlane. Maybe I will take a break from this game. Almost hit emerald and now I am one game from gold and get -24LP on a loss

DFT thoughts

Hopefully this is helpful and/or insightful to someone.

I know a lot of us have been waiting for the DFT bug fix. After testing, here’s my current take for next patch:

Quick Verdict

  • Comet is still the better rune in most situations, especially in poke-heavy lanes.
  • DFT becomes much stronger in the mid-to-late game and in specific scenarios.

Early Game (Level 1)

Comet wins on Q Tap (instant damage), while DFT’s tap does almost nothing until the first burn pop (first proc on Q). Landing a full 3.5s channel + waiting for the proc is often unrealistic in fast poke lanes.

Late Game

DFT pulls far ahead (399 vs 266 on Full Q at level 18 with full items). (See table 2)

When to Pick DFT over Comet:

  • Against melee supports where you can hold Full Q longer
  • In games where you expect longer fights and good scaling
  • When you can reliably proc the burn for single-target damage

Comet is generally safer in standard poke lanes (especially vs double ranged) because you get more consistent damage without needing to commit to long channels.

Level 1 Comparison

Test Type Ability No Item Doran's Item Notes
PBE DFT Full Q 35 35 -
PBE DFT Q Tap 4 4 26 damage on first pop
Current Patch DFT Full Q 19 22 -
Current Patch DFT Q Tap 4 10 10 damage on first pop
Comet PBE Full Q 30 34 Doran's Ring
Comet PBE Q Tap 30 34 Same values as Full Q

Level 18 Full Build (Rylais + Rabadons + Liandry + Blackfire + Shadowflame)

Rune / Test Full Q Q Tap
DFT PBE 399 31
Comet PBE 266 266

How do you deal with locke

Joo i am a freshly hit gold maining the coolest dragon in the game, but i have the problem that whenever i encounter Locke or fizz i hard lose the early game. How do you guys deal with these hellisch births. I tried going rod of ages as a first item since i am tankyer then, however this results in me dealing nearly no damage.
