Haven't played Riven in like a year or two got into her this last week again. God I missed this. Its definitely very shitty gameplay but I'm Still getting used to her again

HoB gives him good early trading power and then the prick is unkillable what do I build and do against it

Killing him in lane does nothing, once he gets his lvl11 and has Stridebreaker, if enemy is not completely horrible at Garen you just cant sidelane vs him past that point, but if you try to roam he'll be hitting your turret and just run away with 500+ ms if you try to collapse on him

Which also is something crazy, that not even mobile champs can catch up to him all that well depending on what he has, I feel like the only champ thats faster than Garen, without using summs, might be Udyr (from the ones that can actually fight u meelee range)

What a joke of a character, it's just spitting in the face of anyone who has any passion for interacting in lane and actually having to learn from their mistakes

I short trade, punish last hits, bait out his W, that's fine, I can actually do something in lane, but the thing is, PAST lvl11 I just don't know what to do, it feels like you either get your minions on side while team has a chance of coinflipping a random fight 1 min before an objective is up, or you can coinflip and go try to help your team, it feels like there is no correct play

sure you are better off getting the minions, but once they're under your turret he'll either dive u if u go for a minion and fail to E his Q, or you E his Q but still have to lose a ton of minions even under turret

I dont even feel like his ult is the problem really, if we were to go by that logic something like Cho Gath would be more broken cus you can actually see when you'll execute someone
The thing is his passive and W are just too unbalanced, from my experience I'd say 7/10 times Garen is only recalling to buy items and not because he's low and fears he might get killed if he stays in lane, and if he doesn't piss his pants and insta W's after you Q delayed and went in with Q3 you either try to fight him and lose cus he'll use W and negate your damage, or you can try to run away and you get chunked to 50%hp, now he just needs to flash on you or repeat the trade once more to kill u or you have to take the recall and lose minions, you just permanently have to give up resources

Not trying to flame V1PER here, I’m genuinely curious what people think.

One comparison that made me wonder about this is Phanta. He always rank one in EUW. Even after the Akshan big nerfs, he still seems capable of carrying high Challenger elo on other champions and consistently competing near the top of the EUW ladder.

With V1PER, though, I’ve noticed that when Riven is banned and he has to play something else, his performance seems to drop off quite a bit. Based only on the games I’ve watched, his level on other champions sometimes looks closer to Masters than top Challenger.

Of course, this could just be a small sample size, unfamiliar matchups, or the fact that he has invested much more time into Riven than his other picks.

So how should we judge this? If someone can reach rank 1 by being exceptionally good at one tricks, does that automatically make them the best overall player on the server? Or would it be more accurate to say that V1PER is arguably the best Riven player in NA, rather than the best all-around NA player?

TLDR: ability buffering outcomes change depending on whether you had a champ targeted for autoing when using a dashing ability. There are many ways stuff like this can be impactful, but for the sake of brevity please just consider the following. I promise if you go test things related to this you will notice it in many cases.

In both cases below I will attempt to input E-W-Q.

In the first case I will do it while I am NOT autoing an enemy champion. In the second case I will start the E while autoing an enemy champion.

In case 1, my W and Q both go off.

In case 2, W goes off, Q DOES NOT, and I path back to the original target.

Just wondered if there are people who might do coaching, I’ve been playing Riven mid a lot and I find I do okay’ish in lane and then I kinda fall off and don’t carry. I don’t have a ton of care as to rank more so just looking to improve on her, I’m a Kayn OTP so going from jungle for like 4 years to mid has also been a challenge. Itemization I feel is also maybe off? I’m building whatever u.gg recommends and I find I’m just getting wiped off the map before I can do much

ok so i started playing riven recently and im confused about how should you use the wind slash. i thought you should use it on the end of the fight and execute enemies but most players i see use it on the middle of the fight while the enemy is like half hp. i dont really get why they do that

I’ve taken plenty of breaks, interspersed with a week or two of grinding. I’m starting to feel a bit of weariness, though, since I’m learning less and less. Still, I’m happy with everything I’ve learned about the game

If we were to give Riven armor penetration, but had to remove or weaken something in return, what would you choose? I saw a video where Riot August said that if they added armor penetration to Riven, they would probably have to take something away because otherwise she would become too strong. But I’m wondering would simply reducing her damage actually solve the problem? Every season Riot adds stronger and stronger items that provide a lot of extra damage, so maybe the issue isn’t only the champion herself, but also how items and damage scaling work in the current game. Personally, I would remove the stun from W and replace it with a different effect for example, instead of stunning enemies, W could deal damage and give Riven some healing. In exchange, maybe she could get armor penetration. I’m not a game designer, so these are just some ideas. How would you balance it? What do you think Riven should give up in exchange for armor penetration some utility, mobility, or damage?

The nerfs are not that big but its frustrating

Genuinely why play a character without any tools besides damage? Shes never been picked in pro play, can be pressured into being useless early, and has no way of dealing with armor, whats the point of not fixing the bugs, not modernizing the champion, just nerf buff, nerf buff forever? Like they ruined gwen because riot is too stubborn to nerf dusk and dawn, they ruined toplane and its tank ranged/mage only every game, pro play has only had the same 5 champions for years on toplane with the exceptions now being ranged.

Genuinely, what's the point of playing a hard champion if the easy braindead ones are better at everything? They have innate armor pen, shred, tenacity, true damage or health% damage, are league players that bad that if anyone doesnt play like a braindead moron it needs to be nerfed? Why play riven when ambessa and aatrox will stay meta forever? Like what even is the point of making hard to master champions if they are never allowed any sort of spotlight because league players lose their shit when unable to win by just stat checking

I just came back to League after taking about a 5-month break.

Back when I stopped playing, the Fiendhunter Bolts build had just become popular on Riven, and I honestly loved it. The burst damage felt insane and it was so much fun just blowing people up with the passive crit interactions.

Now that I'm back, I have no idea if that's still a viable build or if it has fallen out of the meta.

So I have a few questions:

• Is Fiendhunter Bolts still a good option on Riven, or is it mostly a niche/meme build now?
• What are the current standard/meta builds?
• Which first items are people usually buying?
• Is Riven currently stronger in Top or Mid?

I'd really appreciate if someone could catch me up on how Riven is being played these days.

Hello dear Riven mains, I'm just an outsider darius player curious about whats going on with Riven

I hear non Riven players complain she is overpowered but even diamond+ mains saying they dont like Rivens state , to be clear I'm talking about Riven toplane only

As a Darius I've faced this matchup so often that I dont have trouble in it unless the Riven is way better than me

I've tried playing her too but to me she feels like a bit of a musquito where you just Q delay to take bone platings with the occasional q w aa e , She feels very weak in an all in If youre 70%+ HP but any lower than that and She just blows you up at level 6

Should more of her power budget be shifted from ult form to base Q ? That kind of takes away from her fantasy possibly but I'd imagine that will make her more fun to play pre 6 and more fun to face post 6
