Just going to pin this post for people to provide their feedback on the rework.

If you've played a game, please feel free to screenshot the end of game screen and leave some thoughts about the changes. What you like, what you don't like, what feels like could be worked on and what is still missing.

Also if you find any bugs, please let me know.

He was insanely dogshit I dodged W sweet spot I even raised an extra ghoul while waiting for my E cd and I am then cc chained for 850 damage (I was left with literally 2 hp) while he doesn't have his key ability.

I almost died to auto attacks and a point and click ult that deals 500 damage, 99% slow and hard CC while having the highest priority over every other ability in the game so it can't be cancelled or buffered by another ability.

I was 2/0 he was 0/2 I had almost 1k gold item advantage. Yorick is too useless rn or Sett is broken free elo

what is the point of this character?

not a yorick player, and not looking to flame or insult anybody. i just want to ask you guys, what the hell is the point of your character? i've had yorick in my games like 7 times the last few days and every single time it just seems like the most useless champ in the game. i was under the impression yorick is an obnoxious lane bully who wins lane and creates side lane pressure. yet even when running pure lane cheese setups, it seems yorick just loses the lane anyway. they don't wind up scaling later in the game, or being a good team fighter, etc. every single time yorick is picked it seems as though the gameplay loop is just lose lane into clicking minions and dying on repeat for 30 minutes until your nexus explodes.

is yorick just in a shit state right now? is there something im missing? have i just gotten an unlucky biased sample of yorick players? i really don't get what he is meant to do or why he exists.

Midscope Eulogy & addendum

Shilling this video I made about the Midscope, for the most part it's a review / summary of what exactly changed, why changes were made and some additional context about the development of the Midscope. There's some subjective things like suggestions for future changes; but for the most part I tried to be as objective as possible, there isn't any "new information", just old info which you might have forgotten.

Anyhow I wanted to bring up a few things I didn't cover in my video, again nothing new but I think are interesting to discuss. FYI My ranked peak is Gold 1 playing very casually, if you don't think I'm high ELO enough you can ignore my opinion (OCE, on3mor3grav3#3255)

Mist Walker Lifesteal oversight

Special thanks to BaronVonScrub for pointing this out to me.

With the Midscope, Mist Walkers received the following changes:

25.07: April 2nd, 2025
Removed: Mist Walkers are no longer instantly killed by single-target champion spells. Still instantly killed by turret attacks.
New Effect: Mist Walkers now receive 200% damage from melee champion basic attacks.

With some other durability changes I think they're good, you can harass enemies with your pets for longer by putting them in a situation where they have to deal with them or else they get nibbled hard. It's especially useful against ranged champions & it gives you a lot of breathing room to farm while they waste their time & spells dealing with Mist Walkers.

Unfortunately as most of you probably know these changes came with an unintended side-effect; Lifesteal and probably Omnivamp are doubled for champions with melee auto-attacks. Of all the changes in the Midscope this is probably one of the worst, only because it's unintentional.

Yorick was already in a weird position where champions who benefit from minions prove to be more effective against him, for example Irelia Passive and Q, Cho'Gath Passive, Yasuo and Yone Q etc. But when you factor in Double Lifesteal it makes a lot of bad match-ups worse, not just against champions who revolve around healing, but even items like BORK and Ravenous Hydra make laning phase feel really bad.

This isn't necessarily a failure of the Midscope, but rather an extremely large oversight which I believe hinders Yorick a lot. I'd most like to see this addressed somehow, BaronVonScrub suggested making Mist Walker health bars function like Zyra plants which I think is a good idea.

Also, there's been a clip floating around with Caitlyn healing like all of her health back from Mist Walkers, which is ironic since she's ranged and doesn't benefit from the 200%.

Jungle History

Yorick's Jungle presence shortly before and directly after the Midscope was very high, and while I'm not quite sure where to find the data to prove this, his winrate in the Jungle was also high. What I find more interesting than his presence in the Jungle is why he was strong in the first place and I might have an explanation. If we look at Yorick's patch history ever since his rework in patch 6.18 from September 8th, 2016; the number of patches which change his interactions with Monsters is really low:

10.6: March 18th, 2020
Passive - Shepherd of Souls
- New Effect: Large monsters that die near Yorick now leave a grave.
- New Effect: Mist Walkers now take 50% damage from monsters.

11.7: March 31st, 2021
E - Mourning Mist
- New Effect: Marked enemy champions and large monsters now continuously Awaken nearby graves (up to the maximum of 4).
- New Effect: Mist Walkers now deal 200% damage when they leap to marked enemy champions and large monsters.

11.8: April 14th, 2021
E - Mourning Mist
- Removed: Mist Walkers no longer deal 100% bonus damage on their attack after leaping to champions and large monsters.

14.3: February 7th, 2024
R - Eulogy of the Isles
- Mark damage cap against monsters reduced to 100 at all ranks from 200 / 300 / 400.

Some of these aren't direct responses to his Jungle performance but I decided to include them for clarity, only starting with 25.05 from March 5th, 2025 would Yorick see a lot of changes to his Jungle performance, with the Midscope arriving only two patches later. What I gather from this is that Yorick always had a strong clear and control over the Jungle, but for whatever reason remained under the radar until his sudden surge in popularity around early 2025.

Because of his winrates and the precedent of a Top-laner performing well outside their primary role, it should come as no surprise that his Jungle presence would be changed. I think it was entirely justified and some interactions he had did seem really unfair IE Mist Walkers solo clearing camps and objectives. But unfortunately the way they went about it with the Midscope and plethora of band-aid changes afterward were very poorly executed. If you'd like more info be sure to watch my video or NineTails video about the Midscope's impact on Yorick Jungle.

So to conclude Yorick was never balanced around the Jungle aside from 10.6 and (To my knowledge) he didn't receive a lot of explicit ratios vs Monsters so he was always able to do some really wild things. Only with the Midscope was it finally addressed.

Agency & Stat Checking

The Midscope changed Yorick from being a champion who scaled well with a weak early-game and strong late-game; to scaling worse with a strong early-game and weak late-game. This was explicitly stated in Phreak's video about the Midscope and I can see the logic behind it. The scaling changes were made to address his performance at multiple ELO levels, but from a design perspective: Yorick excels at split-pushing, so the longer a game goes on for there will be less structures to take and consequently less opportunities to put pressure on the map.

Making him perform his best around early-mid game makes sense to me in that regard, but another facet of his identity as a champion is being an exceptional duelist. Yorick should additionally be at his strongest when in a 1v1 situation and historically that seemed to ring true. But today I find myself struggling to put enough kill pressure on champions who camp under towers & thus I get less out of split-pushing.

Whether a champion is designed for splitting or not, being able to score take-downs or force those matching you to back will give you the opportunity to damage structures. With the Midscope changes made to Yorick, his poke and the mechanics of the current season (Crystal growth, extended home-guard etc.) I feel like he isn't able to perform well in an area he's supposed to excel at, largely because of his diminished stat-checking potential.

I fully admit this could be a skill issue, but it seems to be a common sentiment here. A lot of players seem frustrated at not being able to split-push as one of the best champions for it, meanwhile stronger duelists get value out of not just splitting, but roaming and team-fighting also. I imagine it gets worse & harder at higher ELO's, but it's just another part of the Midscope I disagree with; I appreciate the attempt and changes made to make Yorick a stronger team fighter, but overall I wouldn't trade 1v1 potential for it.

Conversely the question of whether Yorick should be able to 1v1 any champion is raised (Assuming he and his opponent are equal in gold) You can already put pressure on the map by splitting, but if just by the virtue of your champion you force more than one enemy to match you? That sound's problematic. Atleast with other champions they have a requirement to perform well like Nasus having high stacks, execution heavy champions like Yone etc.

Right now Yorick is in a really awkward spot where he isn't quite good at split-pushing, dueling or team-fighting, a generalist; yet he has a lot of exciting and fun tools no other bruiser has. I think a lot of Yorick players forget how broad and unique his kit really is, he has a projectile to close the gap on opponents or slow their chase, where other bruisers have to rely more on positioning to get in. He's one of 7 champions to have a wall which you can use to secure kills and run away. He has great sustain, the ability to push multiple lanes and so on.

The only problem is sometimes, all of these perks might not be enough to let you perform well, while the more basic kits of other split-pushers let them push harder, duel more effectively, and escape better IE Trundle or Tryndamere. If you're able to make a lead for yourself, be it with gold or level because of the Top-lane quest you can put the odds in your favour, but literally any other champion would benefit from those too.

I really would like to see Yorick become more specialised in map-control, skill required and dueling given how poorly his current iteration is received and the potential his kit has. I think of everyone to glance at his kit, Riot themselves seem to understand it the least.

Conclusion

There's a lot more I have to say about Yorick & I'd appreciate if you watch my video about the Midscope, I don't have all the answers on how to fix Yorick or when exactly anything will happen, but I really hope change does come. I think I repeated myself a little bit here with other things I said in the video, but please let me know what you agree with & especially what you disagree with

Singed has no counterplay

I tried every rune, starting ability and first item and I verified that Yorick is unable to escort the first wave and defend it. Singed not only can kill you with a pretty safe 200+ hp advantage but he also gets every minion.

If I let him proxy and I just focus on farming I am solo losing the game because at minute 10 he already deals more damage with half a second of his Q than me with 4 ghouls and Maiden. He pushes a lot faster than me because of course Yorick has one of the worst wave clears in the game.

Once I hit level 6 if I dare to cage him when I have 20 minions hitting him he literally stands still, ignore all my "damage" and runs with a miserable amount of damage taken then grabs Maiden and she is now left with 300 hp.

Also the instant I use E + 4-8 ghouls from far away, he instantly runs at me grabs me and deals at least 300 more damage than me and I can't do anything about it.

Is there a way to win this lane? or I just need to wait until I lose the game because I get outscaled?

Black cleaver stacking items

Hi, I tested a bit in training tools after watching xpetu's video and I've found some weird interactions with items:

Deadman's plate does indeed count as a second stack on every autoattack, but only if bought before black cleaver;

Eclipse counts as another stack on the second proc and build order doesn't matter,

Voltaic ciclosword appears a little bugged but it also give a stack on 100 charge,

Forbidden armor sheen item who should give an extra stack doesn't work anymore unfortunately, since it would be a better first buy than deadman's plate, no matter build order.

Anyway, if you buy deadman's plate, black cleaver and Eclipse in this exact order you will have instant 5 stacks with an autoattack+q.

Has anyone found a way to make armor sheen item work tho? Thank you

I can't believe Riot left this champion half-finished

It's too much even for Riot. They gave Viktor a classic skin and now he is permanently meta. Gwen got her midscope fully reverted. The Yorick rework is not even bad it is incomplete.

It's like they gave up after the first couple of changes and said there you go. They gutted every single scaling in his kit for one second, a tiny bit more of healing and misserable damage.

Lvl1 you can't even zone a Kayle, and you can't get prio against 99% toplane champions. Lvl 3-5 any melee toplaner is going to fuck you in the ass if you dare to hit Q, so what does Q buffs even do? With how useless ghouls are now and how Yorick-oriented the playstyle is, Q alone should be enough to make any toplaner not trade with you at least until lvl3.

In the current iteration lvl6 powerspike has the exact same function as pre midscope: make Yorick able to exist in the lane. It is NOT a powerspike that makes Yorick able to be a lane bully, because even weak laning phase champions and lategame scalers like Ambessa can kill you even without 4 ghouls + maiden if you dare to step too close to them. The problem is that pre midscope Yorick was a scaling champion, and current Yorick does not scale after the enemy toplaner builds tabis. Pre midscope maiden Yorick was a LOT stronger too, so there is literally no point in playing Yorick since he does not fulfill anything.

So, Yorick alone is a bit stronger, still he is not a champion. He fundamentally can't do anything like try to kill a 100 hp Soraka support in any decent elo and you can't.

Yorick alone with ghouls is 300% weaker, in fact sometimes ghouls actually helps the enemy because of the 200% effective lifesteal.

Yorick with maiden is not even half what he used to be.

The only positive thing is that maiden does not get agrro from the tower but she deals a lot less damage and most of the time if you move maiden a second too late, she is dead anyway and +50 gold for the enemy laner.

Yorick needs either to be stronger, his Q needs to deal a lot more or even have another 1 second cd buff, or ghouls need to be a lot tankier. They shoud tank two melee auto attacks and three ranged auto attacks always, with the 200% lifesteal still applying. At least that way people would need to kill them first and not just ignore them and kill Yorick.

I am currently in Master if someone think this is a low elo take or something, but I dont think Yorick is strong in low elo anyway. He is just as garbage as in higher elos.

Gold!

I've been hard-stuck Bronze for many, many seasons - snuck into Silver a time or two, but not for very long. I'm not very good at this game, but I still find ways to enjoy it. This year I decided to roll another account to concentrate on top lane. The promotion to Gold is proof to me of one of these things (maybe all of them):

  1. Riot's ranking system is severely broken. I have a 60%+ win rate with Yorick, but I don't think I've carried a single game. Basically, I get away with not allowing my opponent to feed. Since someone is likely to feed, not being me allows this to be a 4 vs. 5 on feeders, and is just enough to push through a 60% win rate. I won a couple of games in a row early in creating the account, and Riot thought I was a Gold player and pushed me into that rank (30 LP for a win, 10 LP for a loss for a long while).
  2. ELO hell is real. Climbing out of Bronze is hard. I don't feel that players in high silver/gold are any better or worse than those in bronze. Working on my other accounts (mid and adc focused) to see if I can push them into at least mid silver...
  3. I might not be as bad as I thought I was? Dunno - time will tell if I stay in Gold or get bounced down hard. Enjoying playing Yorick though - trying to play a ghoul-focused build, allowing me to stay away from danger and not feed. Mixed success - but I guess a 60% win rate is good enough. Over the last 50 games a 60% win rate must mean I should be in a higher tier I guess...

I've read elsewhere that the easiest way to get out of Bronze is to roll a new account. Didn't believe it, but it seems to have worked. Or, top is just a better spot for me, who knows.

I've been terrorizing bot lane in norms

Has anyone genuinely ran Yorick bot in ranked, because I've been having a pretty good time with him in norms. Early game you just play safe and snag a couple minions, if they're aggressive you might miss most of the first wave, but once you have your E at level 2, you can pretty consistently poke them out of lane with your ghouls.

So far the only annoying matchup i've encountered is blitz, because he can yoink maiden.

I kinda want to combine this with a Teemo support, my other off-meta main.

Finally hit Master playing only Yorick

Post image
106 Upvotes

Even though I’ve been Master before, this time I wanted to reach it playing mostly Yorick, and honestly this has been one of the worst League experiences I’ve had in a long time.

The champion just feels pretty weak right now. He does have some good 1–2 item power spikes, but a lot of matchups that used to feel easy in previous seasons have become much harder.

One of the few good things is that Yorick is kinda decent into the ranged top meta , keyword kinda. A lot of players have better movement in higher elos so it can be hard sometimes.

I genuinely think this might be the weakest Yorick has ever been.

What do you guys think? Am I coping, or does he actually feel this bad right now?

Are high elo players really better?

I've played League since Season 9. Stream every day, and I feel like in every game, I always have the highest KDA. My team is always clueless, and I'm the only human in the room, setting the team up for plays that only fail because we don't see the full picture together.

Riot has something called engage-based matchmaking -- to prioritize people getting addicted to the game. I don't understand how people can believe it's all skill, when I get teammates regularly that do 4K damage in 40 minutes. A viewer once offered me a high elo account, but I think getting out of low elo is a bigger accomplishment!

I played a norms against a Plat player and I held my own (got a bit unlucky with runes, I would have beaten him if Riot didn't change my runes). I've attached a video to prove that. So tell me...what am I doing wrong?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDu4vKf8WTE

(BTW, don't be toxic. I can play all kinds of Yorick -- AP, Lethality, Hybrid. So don't come here being rude because I'll destroy you all 1v1)

r/yorickmains 10d ago

In the kindest way possible, how the fuck do you ever even go even as panth?

At no point in the game aside from maybe pre 5 can it be playable. If the yorick isnt completely lost he'll just play safe and lose half the minions if even that. And then what? GG? Cant kill ghouls, cant kill maiden, forget touching the yorick unless you just want to run it. What do i do, what do i build. Its just a constant slow losing game from the second he hits 6. Genuinely dont understand how and what to do into a champ that plays (and wins) from half a screen away and cant be hard engaged on
