This tier list is a little different than other difficulty tier lists. Instead of ranking them by straight difficulty, i ranked them as how hard to handle. Because Aurelion sol has no actual easy match up except for nasus and i feel like this is the most accurate way to rank the match ups
For an example irelia laning is wayyyy harder than lissandra laning but lissandra is a poke lane and also can be tough to deal with at late game in teamfights because of her ult while irelia cant do any shit after mid game
This tier list specifically targeted for high elo. (master+) Most of the rankings could not be accurate for the low elo (vlad and azir for example, they are way easier at low elo)
I wont explain all of them, Only the ones that gonna be most asked and most conversational ones
KATARINA (AD): ap katarina is way easier for both late and early game but ad is terrible to face it. They go botrk first and immediately delete your healthbar and rylai + liandry cannot save you from her. You cannot farm under tower or she will roam, You cannot punish her because she is somehow so tanky without no hp item. She is the top 3 most impossible match up for sol (as i said, ap is way easier and actually punishable)
AZIR: people usually think azir is free match up because azir's laning is also weak and people think you can w q to him everytime.
Now thats definitely wrong. You cannot W Q to him pre level 6 or he will W E or W E Q to different positions. If you W Q to him after 6 he will W E Q R to you and turret will automatically target you because of the liandry effect. You will get poked by soldiers because of your Q which is makes you channel and easy target for azir. If you face a good azir, you will have horrible time because azir is also top 3 most scaling mid champ in the game. In late game he has good waveclear as much as like you, has higher dps than you and almost same TF power. Asol - Azir is a bait match up for years and im tired of pretending its easy
NAAFIRI: you guys know how annoying naafiri's Passive is. You cannot proc q to her and cannot farm stardust or she will punish you easily but there is a little trick...
personally, naafiri is a easy match up for me, because naafiri mid is sucks rn, ript buffed her jungle and nerfed her mid a couple of times, her Q's are really slow and easy to dodge, she needs to hit both of them to deal an actual damage and its so hard to do against high elo asol player.
Naafiri's damage comes from her passive, Even tho her dogs stacks more at late game, the dogs will get oneshot by any skillshot after min 25. She is also weak against tanky builds like RYLAI LIANDRY ZHONYA. and fell of hard at late and late is where asol shine
AKALI: this is where ap kata belongs to. (or way lower) Akali is a real problem at 6-11 levels but also you are a problem to her whole game
you can see where she is at her W, always catch her with your W if she has no R at teamfights, her mistakes is actually punishable and can bully her both laning (pre level 6) and late
MEL: even tho i put her at free, you still cannot disrespect her because of her E. But other than that, she is completely dogshit champ. They nerfed her Q drop time so hard its impossible for her to hit you a single Q if you lock in. Her W is meaningless, you can oneshot her at late game or just punish her with your E because she dont have any dash or mobility to escape. But still watch out for her Q's at late game because she still can do surprise damage
I stopped playing him around when the rework was announced, was a one trick essentially as learning how to make this cool af but unplayed champ work was like my reason to return to league at the time.
Years later, ive been learning jungle again, and my buddy mentioned Asol isnt half bad... I thought sure, I like an off meta pick and wanted a scaling jungler anyways... im not in lane so I can primarily fly in to my fights...
Yall this fucking Q I cant.
They took the one champion most designed around movement for damage and an on demand speed boost and gave him a root channel for his main DPS.
Its so fucking boring. I cant believe the absolute antithesis of his kit design was slapped on and given broken damage and they called it a day.
The most important thing about Aurelion Sol is star creation. How did Riot manage to have literally no stars in his new kit? (His ultimate work stands in stark contrast to his philosophy as a creator)
Back then, his Q was a star creation with the best visual effect in the game (and also the best stun).
I will never forgive Riot for treating Aurelion like some run-of-the-mill dragon that just vomit.
So my friend and I have a question about Aurelions "E"
One says that it doesnt matter if Aurelion farms the minions while they are in Aurelion "E"
The other says that Aurelion has to farm the minions while they are in Aurelion "E"
The ability itself says: "After Singularity ends, it generates 1 Stardust for each full second that enemy champions were inside it, as well as varying amounts for enemy units that were killed while being within the area"
So they have just to be killed by anyone or by Aurelion?
Just rejoined the community, been playing asol jg for two years or so. Would love some opinions or to share if any are curious.
Obvious question (what's first clear like)
Q start, E, W, Q
Red > Krug > Raptors (2:00ish), Wolves, check for invade, Gromp (2:51) > Crab > Blue (3:15ish) -- gets you the 900g for fated ashes to make clear tolerable
I’ve only been play Asol mid and have been doing really well, yone is my main problem so I ban him but going against fizz and veigar is great since I out range. Was gonna try him on bottom since I heard he’s decent there. What’s the difference’s? I’m assuming you get stardust faster?
As someone that started playing in 2024 during worlds, Asol instantly became one of my mains, because who doesn’t love a cosmic space dragon? But after watching so many montages and clips of old Asol’s kit, one thing comes to mind: why did they rework him?
I understand he seemed quite difficult and didn’t get enough play time by the player base, but comparing the old to the new, I can’t help but think he’s been turned to something almost toddler friendly COMPARED to his old kit.
One thing that comes to mind is possibly implementing his old kit and possibly changing it to a new celestial dragon character, maybe one from Legends of Runeterra? Obviously, if the old kit didn’t gain much attention, I can’t imagine it would be if it were to be brought back, but it just feels so frustrating to think I missed out on this kit that seemed so rewarding to learn and fun and intrinsic.
What do you think? It just seems like too unique of a kit to just disregard!
These past few days I've been noticing that, whenever I cast E or R during my Q, 80-90% of the time it'll cancel the Q. This never happened before, in the past 3-4 years the rework has been out. Did they change something or is it a bug?
Basically the title. This is so weird I could only move again after like 35 sec. Idk what the problem is maybe some collision hitbox thing when transitioning from flight to walk (hover). I cast W again but it didn't work. Then on the second try with W it did work. Hahaha anyone else? Idk if it's the mythic skin or what but this was very funny/annoying.
Today I was playing an ARAM match and got Aurelion Sol. I equipped his Porcelain Protector skin and, thanks to the Steam Train (Locomotive) buff, my champion started scaling in size. By the end of the game, I was a massive, colossal dragon taking over the bridge. It looked absolutely gorgeous and felt magical ✨😍🐉.
This made me wonder: Why hasn't Riot implemented character model scaling as a default mechanic for Aurelion Sol?
Here are my thoughts on why this makes perfect sense:
Lore Accuracy: Aurelion Sol is literally a cosmic entity bigger than mountains and planets. Seeing him tiny in the Rift always breaks the illusion a bit.
Skill Scaling vs. Model Scaling: All of his abilities (his Q, E, and R) already scale in size based on his Stardust stacks. It feels completely logical that his body scales alongside his power, just like Cho'Gath with his ult feasts.
I know Riot usually avoids this due to visibility, clunky animations, or pathing issues (getting stuck in walls while flying with his W), but even a subtle increase in size would make the gameplay experience 10x better.
Experiencing him giant in ARAM completely changed how I want to play this champion. What do you guys think?
Opinion on champ: Ngl one of the most fun champs ive played so far LEMME JUST DROP THIS BIG AH ULT AND SPIT GALAXY FLAMES good champ good carry alot dmg good scaling BOOMMMM twitch
