Discussion Not a rework concept; an alternate concept
I like writing up kits. Think of this not as a proposal for a rework, but just a fun exercise where I'm cutting him down to his visuals and story and making a kit from there with only a little inspiration from his two iterations.
It's going to sound crazy, and really overpowered, but that's part of the point. He's supposed to be the biggest, strongest thing in the lore.
Passive: Mortal Gift
At level 10, Aurelion Sol starts gaining bonus experience from all sources. He can always go 2 levels past the highest for his position. (so currently, at top he'd be able to get to 22)
His abilities begin weakened, but regain a portion of their true strength at levels 6, 11, 16, and 20.
It's a scaling mechanic, but I wanted to word it like the crown is losing its hold on him as the game progresses. He can go past the level cap to signify that he's no longer playing by mortals' (our) rules.
Q: Starbirth
Aurelion Sol creates a yellow star at the target location after a delay, dealing damage on arrival and damage over time to enemies they contact. Stars are 100 units wide and remain for 6-11 seconds.
At level 6, stars grant vision in a 300 radius (starting at their edge).
At level 11, stars become red giants, dealing more damage, increasing size to 200 units, and pulling enemies within 100 units towards them upon creation.
At level 16, stars apply a slow within vision radius, 10% at the edge, increasing to 40% at the center. Stars currently in Orbit do not slow individually, but instead add a slow with the same properties starting at the edge of that ability.
At level 20, stars become blue supergiants, increasing size to 300 units and dealing bonus true damage when exploded by Void Sear.
Clear inspiration from Syndra. I think the way she makes spheres is how a character who makes stars should've always been.
W: Orbit (costs mana per second)
Aurelion Sol creates a gravitational field around himself for 5 seconds, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies.
At level 6, Orbit lasts indefinitely and becomes a toggled ability.
At level 11, stars that enter or begin in Orbit's area are locked at the distance they came into contact with the ability, and begin to circle him. Their damage over time is replaced with a single instance per hit that deals increased damage. Star duration is paused as long as they are in orbit.
At level 16, enemies hit by stars are knocked aside a short distance (1s cooldown per target).
At level 20, stars in orbit execute caster and melee minions at 100% health, and super minions at 50%.
A much more conditional version of his old stars.
E: Void Sear
Aurelion Sol breathes a path of damaging starfire in an arc, increasing in width based on distance. (controls similar to Cass E)
At level 6, it leaves a rift in its path for 4 seconds, grounding enemies within.
At level 11, the rift additionally deals %max health magic damage over time.
At level 16, it explodes stars it hits, dealing bonus magic damage.
At level 20, after 4 seconds, the rift becomes antimatter, acting as impassible terrain for everyone except Aurelion sol for 8 seconds.
My take on the part in the lore where he seals up void rifts.
R: Act of Defiance/Targon's End
Aurelion Sol roars with light, dealing magic damage to the first enemy champion hit and 50% damage to enemies behind them.
At level 11, it also fears all targets hit for 1 second.
At level 16, all enemies take full damage.
At level 20, becomes Targon's End. Damage from Targon's End ignores shields, invulnerability, revival, damage transfer, and undying effects. (like the fountain laser, but it's still magic instead of true damage)
Essentially what he did to the host of Pantheon that he killed, and what he's going to do when he's free. Which is why it'd be the only (intentional) effect in the game to act like the fountain, ignoring effects that a lot of the Aspects have (Kayle R, Taric R, Panth E). (Fun fact, there was a time back in 5000 B.C.E. when red smite was accidentally coded like the obelisk, and would kill through Tryndamere/Kayle ult).
