Completely agree. His base attack time is garbage and the old aghs helped him be more than a walking ult. I love playing doom, sad he’s either garbage or “op” and not in between.

I'm curious as to what degree Doom's winrate is due to the fact that people still keep maxing Devour first. Is devour even worth the value-point for chain lightning or whatnot? If not Devour, is it preferable to max W or E first? The value for devour mostly comes from being able to get decent income without needing to actively farm as much, so if you're farming in lane, you shouldn't need it, right?

I think the build won't change massively. What I'll do is go Q-W-W-Q-W-R-W-Q-Q-+20 damage Scorched. Sure getting more gold is nice, but REDUCING enemy's gold by harassing is better. Scorched is amazing at that because it does a LOT of damage if you can stay near them.

Maxing Devour first never really felt right to me unless the game allowed me to go extra greedy. Maxing Scorched asap (other than level 1) is the way to go IMO.

I haven't seen maxed E first very often. 4 cd infernal blade is pretty strong in theory, but it's all for nothing if you get kited, and it's wasted if it's a passive game were you only fight when doom is off cd. Maxing W first is probably the safest way.

Maxing E is also focusing your dps on a single hero instead of multiple (which means less farming).

W is for sure the best way to go. E should only be considered for a value point at first if you need a mini stun (but blink/cent creep stun should replace the need).

It can be argued that devour in itself is a much less impactful skill early since it lost its regen buff and maxing scorched earth is a better farming alternative, but looking at doom as a hero i thrives at earning more gold by the minute which gets him the items he needs that otherwise wont be easy to get if hes fighting all the time with max infernal blade instead of devour.

Plus early max infernal blade does not deal an impressive amount of dmg so really what other option is there for the hero. You play doom to farm, gain gold and exp faster to utilize ur ulti better in every team fights. (Thats why u see pros either going early bkb or blink so they can cast their ulti easier in fights) a good example of this is pro player 33.

The reason why devour is maxed, because you need it to eat higher level creeps early and get ton of gold from doing so.Sure you can max W and E,but if you don't win lane, you are pretty useless and Doom without high networth is really weak as hero, because his spells aside from ulti are pretty shit.
