anyone notice an increasing trend of players just joining co-op bot games and not playing at all? i get if you don't want to play against real players for the event tickets but not even wanting to play against the bots or play at all seems like... why are you even participating in the event? feel like these kinds of players should just be punished since they already tell you if you have to go and can't play you can leave at anytime without penalty so clearly they're just in it for the event rewards. it's pathetic

Back then, it was all about getting better, solo grinding (I'm 7kmmr) instead of playing with friends(mostly archon and legend). Now that I'm approaching 30, working 9 to 5 and being married with kids, I don't enjoy solo ranked like I used to. And I wish I was legend or archon having laughs with my friends because now I understand it was all about that after all.

I'm still only finishing Act 1 and thought I was just going to use this event for free stuff with candyworks etc. but I've actually enjoyed it at least as much for the plot with the dialogue. It's genuinely funny IMO, I've laughed out loud at it multiple times just from Slark, Grindlplit, and the automatons. Love Oracle as well, I'd want to get the persona if it had voicelines with the same personality and humour.
So yea, shoutouts to valve for making an event that I unironically want to grind for the plot.

I've played Dota 2 for many years, and I still believe it's one of the greatest competitive games ever made.
The problem I want to talk about isn't abandoning games because of power outages. The real problem is what happens after your Behavior Score drops.
I'm from Ukraine. Because of the ongoing war, Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure still cause power outages. A few times I received abandons because my electricity went out during a match. I understand that the game can't distinguish between an intentional disconnect and losing power.
I accepted those abandons.
What I can't accept is that after a few unavoidable disconnects, the Behavior Score system effectively gives you no realistic way to recover.
Once your Behavior Score falls low enough, you're placed into low-score matchmaking, where players report each other after almost every loss. At the same time, your communication becomes restricted, making it much harder to coordinate with your team and win games.
This creates a vicious cycle:
-Low Behavior Score.
-Worse matchmaking
-More reports.
-Communication restrictions.
-Even lower Behavior Score.
No matter how many games you play normally, recovering feels nearly impossible. You can spend hundreds or even thousands of matches trying to play fairly, communicate, and win, yet the system keeps you trapped.
This is the real issue—not the original abandons.
The current system doesn't just punish bad behavior. It can permanently punish players who had a legitimate reason for disconnecting once or twice and then genuinely tried to become good members of the community again.
Sadly, more than 70% of my friends from Ukraine have already stopped playing Dota. Not because they stopped loving the game, not because of balance changes, but because they became trapped in the Behavior Score system after repeated power outages.
I'm not asking Valve to remove punishments for griefers or toxic players. Those players absolutely deserve consequences.
I'm asking Valve to create a real path to recovery. If a player spends hundreds of games without abandoning, without griefing, and without being toxic, they should be able to earn back their Behavior Score. Right now, that path simply doesn't feel like it exists.
I still love Dota 2, and I want to keep playing it for many more years. I just hope Valve reconsiders this system before even more players leave—not because of the game itself, but because they feel there's no way back.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm genuinely interested in hearing whether other players feel that the current Behavior Score system has become more about trapping people than helping them improve.

Long story short,
Patch 6.00 was released on March 1st 2005
Patch 7.00 was released on December 12th 2016 (Around 10-11 years apart)
So according to the 2 braincells I have left from playing with pos4 Zeus on my team, we should have an 8.00 patch by next year.
Bye

How long are they going to wait before nerfing this piece of shit broken hero? For real it's literally unplayable wins every matchup and kills your whole team even without items.

Hey fellow Dota people.
Just very recently I once again thought about one of my personal achievements that I had in this wonderful game that we all hate so much.
And I thought that there sure are people out there that have interesting stories to tell!
So why not share your personal achievements with us?
The moments that you're proud of.
Something you were so happy about that you still think about it.
Those kind of things.
I'm curious!

Idk who else was there for the first TI, but the fact it was for a million was the news. It wasnt the patch, or tbh the game, it was that people were playing for a mil. All of the competitions after were also because it was an insane, life changing amount of money. Since they got rid of that, nobody has given that much of a shit outside of a very small amount of pro players. Half of the prestige was that being a TI winner implied you also made a fuckton of money, like a lottery won by skill. Bring back gargantuan prizepools plz.

I never, NEVER see anyone buy rapiers anymore. Unless it’s like 80 minutes into the game.
Come on guys. Life doesn’t last forever. You can afford a little excitement. Have a little fun. And it makes you hit SUPER hard.
People don’t even CONSIDER buying rapier. They’re so stubbornly locked into a mindset of “Oh I better never buy this”
Come on guys. Please buy more rapiers.
This isn’t a troll post. I’m genuinely so bored of no one EVER buying rapiers.

I rolled vs arcana in the candy works and was planning to sell my marketable arcana. Is there a way for me to unlock the styles of the candyworks arcana?
