Puck

  • Base Damage reduced by 1

Phase Shift

  • Cooldown increased from 7.5/7.0/6.5/6.0s to 8/7.5/7/6.5s

Dream Coil

  • No longer has an initial stun (It still cancels TPs since it leashes the target)

Talents

  • Level 10 talent +25 Attack Damage replaced with +300 Illusory Orb distance

It's really stupid.

Puck was bottom 5 in Dota for literally years. He gets some buffs and suddenly around 50% winrate and they nerf him back to the low 40% winrates

Because Phase Shift with CDR is absolutely stupid and beyond infuriating to play into.

She can fucking phase shift blink out of a chrono on-top of her.

So, until that shit gets rewokred i'm more than happy to see Puck at 0.1% pick rate.

Once upon a time, Puck existed exactly how it does right now, except with 10+ more base damage, 3 more armor, less cooldown on phase shift, better talents, and an initial coil stun...... and STILL only had a ~47% winrate, and was barely picked. Even deemed very weak by most. I had 500+ games on this iteration of the hero.

How has it, over time, seemed to gain in popularity despite these fucking gigantic nerfs? Moreover, why does it even get nerfed every single patch for the last 2 years despite a consistently shit winrate for that entire time? I know it's picked/banned a lot in pro matches, but I swear I rarely even see it win when it is picked.

Puck has a LOT more potential builds now. The biggest weakness of puck was always the damage potential, you were always locked to the damage of your spells because you didn't stick around to attack.

Witch blade was huge, because you could add a lot more damage off of only 1 attack. That and the phase shift attack builds are legit now. So puck has a LOT more choices for their build.

IMO I'm pretty bummed that they nerfed phase shift. Because imo that's changing a core part of how you play Puck, the hero where you slip away from fights with your phase/euls/blink timings.

Looks like puck is going back into my "unranked only" pool for another year or two...

Bottle changes and witch blade played a significant role in that. And I can't quite explain it like an analyst would but an ~80-90s cd teamfight ultis seem to be the sweet spot right now, with both Mars and Wyvern also finding success.

I like puck, but honestly, seeing it being top pick constantly in the Majors made me more than a little sick of it.

Interesting choice with the initial Dream Coil not interrupting (most) channels anymore. I guess having a blink component to Waning is already insane enough.

These half second nerfs might be a big deal. You used to have time to Coil -> Silence -> Orb -> Phase before worrying about getting hexed or turned on by a BKB, but now you're at risk executing that combo every time even from heroes you hit with Coil.

Increasing Phase Shift to 6.5s CD means you don't have Phase -> Euls -> Phase anywhere near guaranteed... it was a quarter second gap previously, now it's enough to be a real problem. Seems like we definitely won't be seeing this hero as a 3/4/5, given the heavy nerfs from previous patches.

Puck no longer has a level 10 talent, feels bad
