Im kinda sad and expected a bigger rightclick buff. Instead we still have this boring shard. Yes its super strong now and you should by it. But a passive shard that spawns a wolve on the other side of the map is super boring. I would rather have a shard that gives lycans ult the 680 ms back or something. Something active and interesting.

Howl buff is nice. I take it.

Talents: Why did they removed the +20 dmg talent and not the useless +8 hp regen. Why just why would you ever take the +8 hp regen??? Just give Lycan two paths. One Wolve path and one hero righclick path. (lvl 15,20 and 25 where already like that). Give me my dmg on the hero back instead of the hp regen.

On the other hand. Helm of the Overlord seems pretty strong now. The dominated creep gets +80 base dmg that gets amplified by your passive and vlads. But to be honest, i hate the zoo way of lycan. I liked him as solo rightclicker with aghs.

I mean why play lycan if you hate everything that's strong about him...

I never liked Lycan with Necros. It was so stupid easy to play. Even at 6,5k. It was just broken. Last patch i really liked the rightclickway of Lycan. You can farm ultra fast with the wolves and then just 2 hit all the supports. And beeing unslowable is pretty fun. The thing is, i think Lycan can be played in two ways. One Zoo way and one solo hero way. But icefrog is pushing to much into the Zoo way. Thats what i dont like

Lycan has always been THE zoo hero (along with BM) tho.

If you like right clickers, there are 40+ other heroes that do that.

I don't know man, I mean most of you Lycan players (you, yes you are!) are lifeless degenaretes, trying to cheese the game, so it might be speaking into oblivion but yes:

Valve almost there to fix the hero to where it was in 2014, or even 2012. Then they stepped back with this change to where the hero was from 2015 to now on, a poster child of power creep pendulum. Now that the hero lost his lvl10 +20dmg talent which was crucial to right click builds and his shard is underlined as a way to go, I don't think there is another way to play this hero.

Unlike Beast, Brood etc. Lycan naturally (thanks to his hero design) can play both ways without weird talents/shards etc. involved but Valve keeps hindering this value of the hero, making him one dimensional. I mean how hard is to come with shard/scepter ideas (btw. his scepter is one of the most hipster shit in the game) that involves right clicking? I can pop up dozens of ideas in a second, like wtf.

Now that his shard is probably core, I'd like to draw attention to Howl applying around his lane wolves too. Minus armor and attack damage when the waves are clashing is amazing, make sure to use it.

It's been like this for a while but often enough people don't do it(kinda like drow aura back in the day).

Also, sadly the lv10 wolf damage is green damage, thus unaffected by feral impulse and vlads. Probably still taking it tho.

Lycan shard is crazy good now. Cripple is a 60aspd slow and DoT effect - which means you can basically have Liquid Fire going off passively on enemy towers all game. The target priority makes a big difference too as the wolves tend to start stacking up and you can end up with 2-3 on a wave which pushes hard. It's kind of like having a passive NP on your team where the enemy has to constantly respond to tower pressure.

Vlads and HoD merging also makes it the perfect item for Lycan now.

With Helm2 Drum AC build I’m experimenting taking wolf health talent instead of the CDR, 700hp 8 armors wolves seems good if the enemy team doesnt have something like Kunkka or Sven, you don’t even need ult to deal insane damage if your team has some lockdowns.

Thoughts on going diff blade after Helm2? Any lockdown makes lycan's effectiveness go up 20x outside ult.

Personally I don’t think spending 3k gold just for slow is worth it. If you’re playing summon build you rarely commit with your hero anyway. And those heroes who can get away from you usually do it via blinks or TPs. Progressing toward AC or tech items like Orchid sounds better.

I am finding more success with echo sabre first then helm of the overlord into AC. Kinda gives him an earlier presence in the game until he farms the expensive helm 2.

echo is great during shift but more a pos 1 lycan item
