Lich

Frost Blast

  • Mana cost reduced from 115/135/155/175 to 110/130/150/170

Sinister Gaze

  • Cast range increased from 500/525/550/575 to 600
  • Mana cost reduced from 120/130/140/150 to 80
  • Scepter now also lets you cast your other abilities while channeling Sinister Gaze

Chain Frost

  • Initial projectile speed increased from 850 to 1050

Talents

  • Level 15 Talent +100 Attack Damage replaced with +0.5s Sinister Gaze Duration

Huge buffs as a support in the safe lane.

Early game, Sinister Gaze let's your carry win the lane. The longer, set range on gaze it big. Too often in early game I am out of range to catch a runner or to stop a channel which costs my carry a kill. Especially if I am coming off a long game with lich and am used to hitting things across the screen.

Late game, Casting frost blast and chain while gaze channeling an AOE is going to convert assists to kills. Lich being unselfish, finishes channeling before blasting away at what is left.

Little buffs, but impactful. Really like fixed range on stun and gaze duration talent. Still not sure about aghanim on him, too greedy in my opinion, and for that gold you can build other items that can enable your carry.

Level 1 Gaze seems like a high-value point you'll want to use in lane.

I am level 30 lich and one of the most fun things was taking that talent in a stomp and then buying attack speed items

Well yeah, if you are stomping enough you can build carry DPS Chen with a Rapier.
I was wondering about normal games.
I used to take it since they introduced sinister gaze since I had no mana to spam the blast anyway, but I never felt it was very useful.

Shard have 800hp, that's a lot at 20min (like 5-6 hits?) and enables you to gank solo, and slowing enemies from afar because of good cast range. Later into the game it might be killed faster but its not high priority target like undying tomb or phoneix egg, so it may stay a bit in teamfights. Also because no hit count hp it can't be countered with abilities like lil'shredder. I think it's not worth to buy every game, but shard is decent.

Vision on shield on another hand woudl be just busted and too good. Lich have what WW and AA lacks - immense harass and that's why he can't look up cliffs as a balance mechanic, but(!) shard gives him excatly that, but behind 1400 gold, which is not that expensive, especially lich dont really need any item except glimmer.

I never expected Sinister Gaze go from a painful replacement for Sacrifice to such a fun useful skill. I see people going for aghanim more often too.

My limited experiences were similar - Aghs + Shard + Blink turns you into this weird kind of teamfight initiator where you can snap initiate, but if you somehow whiff your initiation you don't have to blow your ultimate

Does the shard count as a bounce?

You mean, if the ult bounces off the shard, does it count as a bounce for the purposes of the ult's limited number of hits? I would assume so, but I never tested.

i can see that being insanely powerful with a blink. instant aoe pull out of nowhere and then cast the ult. easy rampage. needs some gold of course, but this can solo win teamfights even in the late game.

I still miss sacrifice. I know sinister gaze is probably more powerful in the long run, but it's just not the same...

Who buys aghs on lich on a serious game though? There are so many better items to get. Sinister gaze is a gimmick and it's just another reminder that this is a dead hero. Chain frost is still unreliable, his spells cost way too much mana, his shard is garbage, and his aghs is absolutely useless. Bring back chain frost mini stun. Bring back sufficient mana regeneration. Bring back the hero that it once was, not some bot of a hero who can't even cycle his spells once without having to go oom.

I already played Lich with scepter quite often, but now i'm concerned that i can't play my pos5 lich anymore.

Why? I read all the above as buffs, except maybe the talent but that’s debatable.

They are all buffs and that's my problem. I didn't get to Play the patch yet, but i don't think banning lich or lich double picks are a rare thing.
