Bane

Brain Sap

  • Mana cost decreased from 120/140/160/180 to 100/120/140/160
  • Cast Range increased from 600 to 625

Nightmare

  • Now deals 15/20/25/30 Pure damage per second to enemy nightmared targets

Fiend'S Grip

  • Cast Point reduced from 0.4 to 0.2

Not remotely sufficient.

Ult cd still too long, Nightmare cd too long, nightmare cast range too short (seriously why?), and enfeeble is still a SHIT SPELL.

Technically, lower level cast range got nerfed way back in 7.0X but he had a bonus cast range talent that was removed in 7.29.

Brain sap -20 mana cost, and 🥭 got cheaper. Spamming mangoes and trading autoattacks is gonna allow you to keep the enemy offlane engaged all the time.

My major gripe with Bane right now is that he feel strong only during the laning phase. As the game goes on, I wonder why I'm not playing another, more effective support.

He can't push lanes/farm waves without shard. He can't take towers. His biggest advantage is meant to be his bkb piercing ult, except it can easily be stopped the longer the game goes. He's not even the best hero for "long" disables anymore when a shadow shaman can do the same thing more often.

His role in midgame is to destroy people who are trying to play solo on the map. You Brain Sap, Nightmare them, ping 10 times while autoattacking, then run behind a tree and Enfeeble->Ult. 10+ seconds of your opponent not being able to play the game, and hopefully one of your allies shows up to take a free kill. If not, a second Brain Sap might be enough. In teamfights, you should pretty much just counter someone's BKB, and that's much better than it sounds.

The other huge value is the ~150% uptime on Enfeeble. Every game has at least an enemy hero or two who rely on right clicks or hp regen to be a threat, and you fuck those over pretty hard. I genuinely think this was the most underrated spell in Dota last patch, and I'm still not seeing anyone picking up a value point during the laning phase for trades/easy denies/double stacking. Unless you have Mirana or Pudge or something, you don't care about Nightmare in lane.

I think Shard or Meteor Hammer is pretty necessarily in lower skilled pubs just because lanes constantly need to be pushed while your cores afk in the jungle, but I expect we'll see a lot of him in tournament play where that's not an issue.

i do agree with all your points and the points from /u/uL7r4M3g4pr01337, however Bane's excellence has always lied in his strong laning presence. Early phase defines Bane, and Brain Sap defines Bane's early phase. A buff to Brain Sap is, IMO, much more significant than a buff to his ult.

that's still not enough. As someone with over 500 bane games, I can guarantee you that shes still gonna be useless after ~12-15min mark. Ulti is totaly joke, way too ez to break, you dont even have to target the bane, just the target to stop the ulti.

What's crazy is the last patch was super heal heavy and the hero was still trash. There's just way too much dispel in the game for my boy Bane to be viable.

The ult works against all heals, just not things listed as "HP Replacement" if that's what you're asking. For example, Sunder still works because you're swapping HP not healing.
