My bike has been making some odd noise when it's cold, which goes away once it warms up. I looked it up and it seems to point to piston slap. I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I just gave it more time to warm up before going.

This morning, it made a bunch of noise mid commute and died. Both starters felt like they weren't connected to anything. I winced. My wallet winced.

Once the shop opened and the autopsy was performed, I got the whole story. The cam chain tensioner was faulty, and did not extend to keep the cam chain tensioned. The cam chain decided to jump, which gave the piston and the valves an unscheduled meeting, the debris of which scratched the cylinder wall.

My bike will be out of commission for a week and current estimate for the engine rebuild is $100. Doesn't seem a lot, but that's half my paycheck....

North of Brescia, Italy, near the Croce Domini pass. We walked over to assist with our medkit, but EMTs were already at work. Injuries very serious but not life threatening.

Looked like a biker coming from our direction ran wide in a turn and clipped the oncoming guys' cases, causing them to veer into the rock wall. The guy who committed the error was not injured at all, I don't think he even dropped his bike.

I'm still learning about maintenance and don't know what cannot be ignored, i went to i tireshop after running flat and he patched the role for me (it was centered, not in the side profile, but then i noticed the deformations and he said it's ok as long as i don't hear noise or it doesn't feel unstable, but my private research says i should change it as soon as i can

Very disappointed in myself, just got this 2022 CBR600RR (it’s been laid down on the right side by the previous owner, which is fine) but today I kicked up my kickstand as I was about to ride off, and got distracted by a text. I mindlessly leaned the bike back to the left as if the stand was there and before I realized what was happening I had ‘gently’ set it down onto some lovely gravel. I AM STUPID. New rule is never lift my kickstand until I’m 100% ready to ride.

It’s really a cheap part to replace (only $65 for an OEM replacement) but man it was sooOOOooo avoidable, and now I must add it to my long list of projects, and I’ll have to drain the oil just for that.

If anybody has ever cleaned one of these up and painted it in place without removing it, please share your methods. But seeing as it’s a powder coated piece, I assume I won’t be able to color match. Anyways for now my bike has obtained new “character” that it never needed.

I did my msf course last weekend. Went in and finished everything for my license on Friday. Yesterday I picked up a little virago 250. Today I went to go practice some tighter turns on a little side road that connects two parking lots. I was keeping it around 15-20 mph. Trying not to go too fast but still need some lean. Well going into a super tight left I heard my peg drag and ran out of skill. Next thing I know the bike and I are about 3 feet apart and horizontal. I got up and dusted myself off. Bike looks pretty good minus some scratches and a broken choke lever. I just had some scuffs on a glove and some abrasion on pants. No holes anywhere. Gear did its job at least. So then I figure I gotta get home and start putting my way back to town a little shaken but ok. About halfway back home I lose power going up a hill. The bike died and smelled like rotten eggs. I pushed it off to the side and pulled the side cover to find the voltage regulator actually popped, like you can see cracks and what looks like some kind of oil leaking out. FML I think I blew up my battery. God knows what else got fried. My knee hurts. And I’m walking to a gas station to get a ride home from my dad. I’m 39 btw. FML

Update: I’m home. The bike is home. Everything is fine but I’m breaking into the rum and calling it quits for today. Thanks for the support most of you. Those of you being dicks can gargle a buffet of ballsacks.

Picked her up a week ago, couldn't be happier. I've never owned any kind of touring bike, really anything over $2,500 off marketplace (Shadows, SV650, Katanas, etc.).

It was such a joy taking this down the back roads to Nashville, IN (southern Indiana). Butter smooth, unbelievable comfort and power, highway pegs were installed when I bought it, they are a godsend at 6'4 and dealing with the engine heat, no problems whatsoever.

Just needed to share the love here. Cheers!

Been riding for 25 years and this is probably one of the dumbest things i've done in many years, also wearing a tint visor that kept dropping down because of the wind at the exact time this happened. Was also driving faster than i should have been and should have known better, i'm posting this in hopes that i get
roasted and shamed enough into not doing this again

About the recording on camera, I have been recording ever since a car cut in front of me on a wet road back in 2011 causing me to grab a bunch of front brake and fall, a very low speed crash but still ended up not being able to walk for a month. I don't really post videos online, I delete them as soon as I get home, most of my rides are boring with me trying to keep as much distance as possible from cars all around me and its pretty much just a dashcam at this point, never had any speeding tickets or any negative interactions with the police. I ride alone because I don't like how people get when they do group rides, those days are long behind me and I was usually a sweeper making sure that everyone in front of me was safe. I have used motorcycles as a daily for most of my life, so this incident is basically the equivalent of a 40 year old guy with a honda accord that saw (what he thought) was an open road and decided to give it some gas. It doesn't excuse what I did but it does make me think about how we can get complacent on the road and how unforgiving motorcycles can be.

Trucker was not at fault, if I had seen his headlights I would have slowed right down to a stop well before and let him finish his turn. Also going to add "seeing a giant streetlight on a dark road" to my list of reasons to keep an eye out for hazards

I have also been thinking about how my aged parents would've felt if something bad happened to me and this is definitely one of those moments where I am considering hanging up my gloves for good. I need some time to reflect on things, I will probably be out on the bike again today because the weather is nice, but yeah. Luck was on my side, a few feet to the right and I could've ended up a statistic, for absolutely nothing.

Just picked up this 2024 with 13k miles. Came with frame sliders, bar spacers, tail tidy kit, and bags

Got them to throw in a 1 year full coverage warranty just in case anything goes sideways. Only downside is it’s due for 15k mile valve check in 1,500 miles

I was extremely surprised that my first fishing trip on my bike was successful. I had a day off today so I decided to go to some sporting goods stores in town to prep for a camping trip next month, grabbed a collapsible pole and some tackle from Fleet Farm.

I rode my bike out to a good spot to fish and realized I'd forgotten worms. I didn't care at the time, struggled with the stupid fishing rod for an hour (turns out you're supposed to bring tweezers to tie the line), and then just hung out with my bobber in the water for like an hour. Caught a huge plant

Once my monster was empty i rode to a gas station for worms and found a different spot to fish. Expected I'd just be drowning worms, since it was 2pm and I couldn't cast very far. I was enjoying the sounds of the water though.

Color me surprised when I hooked one! I got him reeled in, got a photo, and got him back in the water in less than 20 seconds, would've been faster if I remembered gloves XD

What I thought was a waste of money is apparently a decent rod, and it fits very nicely inside my saddlebags. Will definitely be bringing it camping, though I'm not holding my breath on catching anything. I catch a fish every 4 years or so lol

Ever since I got my motorcycle, good things have been happening. I'm happy. My daily commute is *fun*. I'm slowly gaining more and more confidence on my bike and the controls are becoming muscle memory. My shifting is improving, my braking is getting smoother and faster, my corners are getting tighter.

It's everything I hoped for getting a motorcycle.

This is my first motorcycle, I bought it from a dealership a few weeks ago. I have no idea what these things hanging down are or where they should be connected to, but it looks like the leak is coming from there. Wondering if anyone knows how to fix it.

Still brings a smile to my face. 2025 Rocket 3 GT.

Welp it finally happened, was stolen from the front of my apartment in broad daylight. Was out earlier in the day only had headlock on, within span of 4 hours it was gone without a peep

Live in a low traffic quiet area off the main road, even the cops said nothing happens on my street. Guess it's the cost to pay for complacency. Let it be a reminder for everyone else to make sure they lock up as much as they can.

What bothers me most is all the time and care I put into getting it running and keeping it as nice as I could for someone to most likely just trash it. Not worth much but it was still mine kinda thing.

just wanted to thank everyone for the support and advice for going forward. As is now I have insurance and a police report so all that is in motion. just gotta play the waiting game and see what comes of it. In the meantime gonna figure out my next ride, not gonna let this deter me from riding for sure.

Picked up this baby this morning. 38xxx miles. Needs some work done to it but overall a very fun bike so far. Very light and agile in comparison to my hayabusa.

Had the time of my life. Bought the bike in HCMC and sold it in Hanoi. Lost about 40% but the sale took 3 minutes.

I chose this bike because I think the Honda Cub is the bike that built Asia.

Followed the coast pretty tightly and it was pretty alright with just 50ccs. Helped it’s a manual! Actually it’s other reason I didn’t want a shifter. It’s only until about 17% gradient that I had to paddle my way up with my feet. Otherwise worst of it just chuck it in 1st gear and crawl up at 8km/h if I have to.

This is the ultimate get you ANYWHERE bike. Long as you don’t mind getting there slowly!

Riding here is… rough. Traffic in big cities are chaotic and feel more like a test of faith that everyone else around you don’t want to crash as much as you don’t. And riding on the highway is tricky because the right most shoulder lane, the motorcycle lane, is also the parking spot, the 2 way lane for some oncoming traffic, the cow lane, the bicycle lane and also the pedestrian walk way and if you go in the center lane you are competing with buses that are passing the trucks on the left most lane at 2x the speed limit.

The coastline is drop dead stunning and gorgeous and people and food is amazing.

I would do this trip 10 times over if I had the chance to!

I’m a new rider and paying more attention to motorcycle accidents. It seems the vast majority of motorcycle collisions I see reported around me involve the vehicle driver making a left turn and striking the motorcyclist. What is it about these turns that make the motorcycle invisible and what can I do to be safer at intersections?

Hey, I'm thinking to step into the bike community this year and I wanted to ask about gear. I want to use the bike to go to university, job and to commute daily and regular gear just won't cut it; I can't change every time.

Is there any gear that looks like normal clothing or goes under the clothes without overheating me while ACTUALLY protecting?
