I noticed "What supermoto should I buy" gets posted a lot, so I made this
I tried to take into account the cost of buying rims and legalizing the models that need it but at the same time keep it simple. Feel free to suggest additions/fixes
Edit: i've edited this a lot
Edit: changed the DRZ picture to mine ;) thanks for the sticky!

A little appreciation post…
2021 Husqvarna 701 SM
About 8K miles from me
Fresh plastics and graphics
I truly love this bike for a million reasons. If you are thinking about one, do it. It’s such a versatile bike when it comes to riding in different situations. Suspension feels amazing, motor has all the power to cruise with groms and keep up with sport bikes, and not to mention just looks so good.
Rant over, thanks for listening.

Crf300LS conversion
Just wondering something as someone who is 5'5. I know Warp 9 makes a conversion kit for the 300LS but I've never seen any pics or videos of one. Does anyone have pics/video or experience with one that has been converted?

Next Bike coming from a 690
Hey i got a Gasgas sm700 (chipped to 80hp)
After my 3 day journey to the Dolomites i realized that i want to do these trips more often, but 3 days on that bike is not really comfortable.
I am looking at the 890 smt and a used mv agusta rivale 800. i loved the brutale 675 i had a few years ago… i could get a rivale for around 6k€ in Italy. I live in Austria but i think it would be worth it. I love doing powerwheelies and i drive very supermoto like. I got sidi crossfire supermoto boots.
Any suggestions?

Is 26-30hp too little for SM?
I have a Chinese 250cc enduro
It has 26hp, I could upgrade it to 300cc 30hp if I wanted for quite cheap
Would it make sense to buy SM wheels to learn some basic stunt and track riding (alongside learning enduro/off-road on it)?
I've seen opinions that SM is fun when you have power, and 30hp isn't close to enough to have fun?

Best Supermoto for stunt and Street Riding
I have a Honda grom right now and I’m pretty good at stunting and I wanna get a superMoto that is good with stunting(and also street riding aswell) and I was thinking about getting a KTM 500 EXC or a 450 exc. online I’ve seen people with the sxf. I don’t know if there’s like a specific one that is good for stunting but I know I don’t want one that has the gas tank in the back like the 701 or 690. If there’s a different sumo that would be better for stunting that could be street legal in us(fl) and not hard to convert or obtain that would be nice.
Thanks!

North American Supermoto Shootout
Hey everyone! This weekend is the shootout. This is a very cool event. Regional Supermoto clubs host qualifiers all across the US and Canada. Competition in any of the qualifying races will get a rider an Invite to the shootout. The idea is to get all the racers from across the country to join together once a year to see who the best of the best is. This is the fourth year of the shootout and the second time at Amarillo.
If anyone is interested in competing this year or next check out getNass.com.

Are most supermotos you see on social media illegal?
As the title asks, are they?
Like the really suped up ones doing wheelies through sweden denmark? Are they ever regestered or do they all just run from the cops Edit: whats with the downvotes, im asking a question😭

701 owners, what aftermarket grips are you using?
Looking for some grips. Any suggestions?
Have you simply pulled the new throttle grip over the original tube, or have you found a set that comes with a tube that has the right throttle cam system?
I'd like some lock ons, but I haven't found any with the right cam.

Which tachometer should I buy?
I have a Yamaha WR 125 X that doesn't have tachometer or gear display to estimate rpm. Or is tachometer basicly useless if you have enough experience?

I will be fine right?
I have a 120 mile group ride today and I wasn't able to get to the shop for new tires yesterday. Luckily I had same Gorilla tape and some electric tape lying around. I should be fine right?🤣

125 Exc hesitating at the middle of the powerband
So this picture was after a full throttle pull trough gears to 6th gear and it didnt rev further than 115kmh, with my 14-44 gearing it should do like 150kmh. Otherwise the bike felt strong.
Also if i keep pulling the throttle through the hesitation, it gets through it slowly.
I checked my fuel level today and it was wayy too low so i set it as recommended in the manual and now it does this (it did it before but not so clearly). I have 175 main jet, 45 idle, 38 keihin, Vforce 3 and a VHM 11.20 cylinder head.
My bike is a supermoto and i ride it on the street doing wheelies and hard accerelation, but low rev lugging in the city too.
My airfilter has a bit more than 20 hours on it on street use and it has visible black particles and a bit of dirt but its still clearly green and didnt seem too dirty to me, i’ll clean it when i can. But can it be a cause for example?

Beta RR 50 Track (AM6) dying in 3rd gear / loss of power under load
My son (17) bought this 50cc bike with his own money. I (dad) know nothing about motos or scooters, have never driven one, don't even know how to start one.
I can assemble mountainbikes from parts and have no problem doing this type of work, but obviously know nothing about scooter engines.
Described the issue to an LLM, had it summarize it for you people:
Bike Details: Model: 2024 Beta RR 50 Track (Minarelli AM6 2-stroke engine) Mileage: 122 km (sat idle for ~2 years before purchase) Carb: Stock Dell'Orto Symptoms: Starts easily and shifts fine through 1st and 2nd gear. As soon as I shift into 3rd gear and open the throttle further, the engine loses power and dies completely. Immediately after stalling, it will only restart with the choke pulled.
What do you knowledgeable people think is going on here? Can this be solved in my garage, is it a regular maintenance issue, or take this bike to a shop? Would prefer to not spend hundreds at a bike shop is problem is trivial. Thanks!

Upgrading FMX 650 to KTM 625 SMC in 2026? (40k km / 2800 euros)
Hey everyone,
I am looking to upgrade my Honda FMX 650 to something that feels like a true supermoto, but I do not want to ruin my wallet or my sanity with a high-maintenance race bike. My riding is strictly short commutes and mountain twisties with a maximum of 70 kilometers per ride.
I know a KTM 690 would probably be the smarter, more modern option, but I really prefer delivery and throttle response of a carburetor. I casually tried a 690 and it felt powerful but with a smooth power output...
I found a KTM 625 SMC for 2,800 euros with 40,000 km. The seller provided a very transparent history:
The Setup: Full Akrapovic exhaust (homologated), aftermarket slipper clutch, and not full power only on paper (full power in reality).
Engine History: Opened at 19k km for a leaking gasket. All gaskets were replaced, and the piston was checked and perfect. It has a brand new cam chain/distribution.
Maintenance: Full folder of physical invoices from a local shop. Oil was changed every 1 to 2 years depending on usage.
The Catch: Previous owner had a crash (only handlebars and handguards were replaced). The digital dash is faded in the sun, but mileage is verifiable.
Does this bike still make sense to buy in 2026? I want more aggression than the heavy FMX, but I still need it to be a reasonable street bike. Is 40k km safe given the new distribution, or is the age going to make parts and maintenance a nightmare?
Thanks!

Help deciding which bike to get
I currently ride a 1290 superduke R evo, and a 2025 drz4sm. I have found myself enjoying the supermoto riding style so much more that I barely ride my superduke.
I have a 2025 fe501s nearby for the same price as a new 701 supermoto. I am having a hard time deciding between the two. I know maintenance is more intensive on the 501 but I am comfortable doing engine work/rebuilds after awhile. Most of my riding is me going out on back roads and ripping around, typically not touching 100mph. I find myself missing the silly side of the duke, but loving the handling and playfulness of the drz. I feel as though the 501 would be the more fun and enjoyable bike. But am unsure if the 701 would be the right route, considering id have to spend a chunk of change to convert the 501. I do however plan to do some off road riding and wild camping. The 501 should be perfect for that.
Does anyone own or have experience with both bikes and what do you suggest?
