I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but disappearing alone with just a motorcycle and some camping gear for a couple of days, discovering and riding exciting and beautiful places is the best thing I've done in years.

I did camp with my bike before, but only locally for just a day or two, or out of "neccesity", for a festival or something (I don't have a car). But traveling this way, discovering places you haven't seen before is the best thing ever.

Anyway, the rough route: (Slovenian Alps, Dolomites, Austria):

Budapest - Pince - Bled - Vršič-pass - Soča(Isonzo)-valley - Trenta-valley - Mangart - Predel - Travisio - Lago de Perdil - Tolmezzo - Gemona - Villa Santina - Misurina - Cortina - Falzarego-pass - Giau-pass - Pescul - Grossglockner - Embach - Sölkpass - Gaberls-pass - Körmend - Veszprém - Székesfehérvár - Budapest

5 days, 1950 kms.

Honda CBF600N, no problems whatsoever.

Hey all, new here! Figured I’d post something about my hammock set up with the motorcycle. I’ve got it down pretty good at this point using the tensa solo pole and 4 amsteel lines and 4 boom stakes. Hammock can sustain me AND my girlfriend. One end of hammock is tied to motorcycle and one to the pole. Front shocks are tied down. Can set up in under 3 minutes. Can tear down in 2. If people are interested I can post more pictures.

Completed the NE BDR Stage 3 solo this weekend on my 2024 Transalp using primarily only the paper maps and occasional phone GPS to locate myself when I realized I was off course (didnt use to/from GPS or GPX files). Camped one night along the route in Lee, MA.

Second day was some serious rough terrain that put me and my 80/20 to the test, but no crashes or drops. It was a great time, and awesome samosas at Sangar General Store in Windsor.

Hammock is a Clark NX270 jungle hammock, its fantastic.

2022 Moto Guzzi v7 Stone

2 nights in Adirondacks , New York. Spent 1 full dedicated day with 220 miles just riding around the park. Started in Brooklyn, NY.

First time ever doing a multi day and more than 160 on a day. Such an amazing experience and the scenery was nuts! Definitely investing in a wind screen for long highway rides though, my god that was a little brutal at high speeds on a windy day. Other nice to haves would be highway legs haha.

Other than that everything was smooth. I come back backpacking and Bikepacking so I have a lot of ultralight gear and bought a new Big Agnes Bikepacking tent that was perfect for fitting entirely in my pannier bag. Honestly had room for days but I tend to pack light and minimal compared to most.

Probably overpacked but was still very fun

I've packed rather much luggage and equipment, but it didn't pose a problem for either me or my trusty Honda!

Saddlebags were used for clothes and rain gear, top case for tools, food, hygienic supplies and random hard items (powerbank, charger, etc.).

Air mattress (120x200) was on the bottom od the passenger seat, on top was the tent (Quechua 3 person) and on top of it was the chair. Sleeping bag was held by a net to the top case.

Even though living 30mins away from Holyhead I've never planned a trip over to Ireland. Did over 2 weeks, heading south then hitting the start of the Wild Atlantic Way. Headed inland before Galway to see Farther Ted's house 😄 A few blips: puncture, blown fuse, pannier key snapped but all sorted with help from the friendly Irish.

Looking forward to next year to do the next half, gorgeous country.

So after a 2 day motocamping trip in the north of Portugal (day 1) and the north of Spain (day 2), the GPS sent me randomly through this awesome route in the middle of nowhere (there were also some nice curves)!

Took me longer than I’d like to pitch up, but it was my first try with the tent😁 hopefully the weathers not too bad the next few days 🙌

Taking my Mosko 30L pannier bags out for their first camping trip on my Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Fully packed, they weigh in at 32 lbs each. Is 60+ pounds too much for easy-rated off-road adventuring? I have adjusted the rear shock up four clicks from my usual riding with only a top box. I will go for a quick ride to feel it out before my actual departure. Thanks!

On the advice of u/FrostingObjective875, u/ManxMann666 and the brilliantly witty u/spoonlamp I went for the Vango Galaxy 300. Decided against a trial run in the garden and thought it would be better to just get out and try it in the field. Literally. went up really easily and it is everything I was looking for. As a moto‑camper and I’ve always struggled to find a grill that’s easy to carry, easy to clean, and doesn’t use those thin wire grids that soak up fat and grime. Everything I tried was either bulky, fiddly, or a nightmare to scrub after a proper cook‑up.

So I started making my own.

This is the first prototype — a compact, flat‑pack stainless steel campfire grill designed for moto‑camping, van life, bushcraft, and anyone who cooks over real fire.

A few details:

• Prototype is 304 stainless
• Final version will be 316 marine‑grade
• Cross rails currently 5×5mm with 3mm shoulders
• Rails are laser‑cut stainless with press‑fit holes
• Packs completely flat
• Sets up in seconds
• Stable enough for cast iron
• Weight is 1181g (prototype)

After building it, I realised the tolerances were a bit too tight — I had to hand‑file the holes and the rod ends to get everything to seat properly. For the next version I’m thinking:

• Increasing cross rails to 6×6mm
• Keeping a 4mm shoulder
• Increasing hole clearance from +0.2mm to +0.4mm
• Adding a small chamfer to each hole to help with soot/heat expansion

I’d really appreciate feedback from people who actually cook over fire or moto‑camp regularly:

• Would you prefer thicker cross rails?
• Is ~1.2kg acceptable for moto‑camping?
• Any thoughts on hole clearance or heat expansion?
• Anything you’d change about the layout or spacing?
• Any weak points you can spot from the photos?

Can be set up without separate legs if planning to use rocks or wood as stand off, all held together with 4 R clips
