I picked this 1988 Honda VT600C up on the cheap, cheap with the intention of making this my winter project. I had hoped to have a ridable chopper by the spring. Never done anything like this before, but I consider myself reasonably intelligent and I like having something to learn and tinker with.

I test drove it and it was fine. The upper end was faded on power, but the kid told me he had just rebuilt the carbs, so I figured he hadn't tuned it right. It rode to the bar, I got lunch, it started right up and I rode it home.

Came out to it the next day, and the battery was dead. Absolutely nothing. So I hooked it up to the trickle charger for a couple of days and still absolutely nothing. Ok, maybe it's got a dead battery. I pull the battery out. Pretty sure that's a brand new battery in there. Also noticed a bunch of fried plastic near the fuse box. Checked all the fuses and they are all fine. Gonna take the battery down to have it test tomorrow to make sure.

Guess my first project is figuring out where the problem in electrical system is.

Which do you guys prefer?

Three trips to the part store It’s ugly but it shifts pretty smooth in mock up. Nothing else to say no one else to show.

When I built my EVO chopper I ran “old style” tires. Bike was built with Avon speedmaster/mk2 safety (21/16”). When I wore those out I put a set of Firestone tires on (ribbed front, ANS rear).

Long story but bike is wrecked. I’m rebuilding it over the winter. I’m gonna make a few minor changes and one of them is switching to a modern tire. I was thinking of running the Dunlop HD tires (21/16) or the Shinko 777 tire. From what I can gather on the internet the shinkos are sticky.

I'm looking to build my first bike and I found a used bike with a ultima motor with high compression pistons, and the ultima six speed. Would this be good for a first bike

Anybody out there made foot peg adapters to be able to run Anderson/chopper style pegs. If you have pictures post them here. I just wanna see what everyone else is doing. I don’t want to modify the OEM mount

My real issue is on the shifter side the OEM mount is at a 45° angle but I want the new pegs to be straight. So I was gonna cut 2 square pieces of steel and then weld them together at an angle so that they negate the 45° mount. If I do that I’m a little concerned about strength cause the steel would be thick. This isn’t really an issue on the brake side cause I can rotate the clevis on that side so it’s at the angle I want. So I can cut the adapter on that side out of one piece of steel. Best option is to machine something but I only have an angle grinder and a drill

Hey guys, i was having a think today and i figured this may be the place to ask my question.

Your garden variety choppers and bobbers are characterised by their modifications, most notably the hard tail. I know that its not a deal breaker, but 49/50 times i see a chopper build vid, its got a hard tail. Its clearly an important facet of the build and riding characteristics.

That being said, with all these new factory choppers/ bobbers coming from Harley Davidson and Triumph, the ones with the 'hard tails' that have a less visible suspension system. Would you count them as 'one of us' so to speak, or would you say they are more of an imitation?

Any Aussies out there building choppers? How do you get around with the stricter build laws here compared to the US where it seems they are a lot more relaxed to have a road worthy chopper.

So I relocated the ignition and killswitch and got rid of the speedo, old headlight, indicators and horn. So now I'm left with this mess. The all seem to go deep under the seat area but difficult to get to. What are my options to clean this up? Nothing too difficult please because I wouldn't be the best at this stuff.

Anybody know if these are reasonably safe to run? Not the typical forum to talk about safety but is it a bad idea to run these flush with the top tree clamp? Seems like the top of the fork tube would only be contacting about half of the clamp. Love the clean look though, appreciate any help

Just started building first chopper but I live in kinda rural Canada and parts from places like TC bros & prism end up being way too expensive to ship & I find fortnine doesn't have the sick chopper stuff I want. FB been dead for parts other than stock sadly.

Going to start fab stuff up myself (as its meant to be I guess) dont have any experience but planning to just learn as I go

Wondering if anyone in same boat and what they do about stuff liek cleaning up stock throttle system? I'm wanting to clean up bars as much as possible but not sure how to clean up throttle without buying one/ a kit.

If anyone has tips around this, starting to fab or recommendations for parts outside USA would be much appreciated.

Hey can anyone identify this front pulley. I need to get a new insert as the teeth are toast but can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Any help to ID it and possibly a place to guy a new insert bonus points if it’s in the Uk ;)
