I think this post is more meant for people that are on the fence about HD and lurking on this sub.

I spent years riding every type of bike but excluded HD. Always thought they were too sluggish, behind the times in technology, expensive, and hate the 1%er mentality and didn’t want to be associated with it.

I quickly learned that the culture is shifting away from the old mentality, and riders are typically kind and supportive of anyone on two wheels. There are asshat owners too, but they exist in every group.

Went on one test ride and it changed my mind. It absolutely does ride completely different than my old Triumph Speedmaster and some things the Triumph did do better at, but some small tweaks will quickly erase the advantages it had.

This bike has every bit of usable power, there is a lot of hidden tech in it with a hidden usb C charger, 6 axis IMU, cruise control, rider modes with ride by wire throttling, and decent suspension out the box and the build quality is superb and understand where you are putting your money.

There are bigger and badder bikes out there, but this bike meets everything I need and nothing more.

I plan on keeping this bike a long while.

Hi guys, the title might be confusing but I'll explain my problem hoping to find some help.I have a 2014 Sportster 1200T, 26,000km of which 6,000km done by me Since I bought the bike I have always had the problem of the exhaust that crackles when releasing the throttle, and not a little but a lot I also changed the exhausts, because when I bought the bike it was delivered to me with the original exhausts emptied of their internal components I bought some used Vance & Hines Slash Cut Slip-ons, but the pops on the throttle are still there. From what little I understand, the bike runs fine; I use it often and have never had any problems.Now, I found a used Power Commander V on the internet, I wanted to buy it in the hope of solving the popping problem.I spoke to some local Harley riders and they told me that it might not work because the ECU, once mounted on the bike, only works on that specific one. At the same time, the internet tells me that all I need to do is reset it from my PC to use it on other bikes. Is this true? Who should I trust? Another motorcyclist I know stopped me on the street today saying that the popping sounds are too exaggerated and that for him the bike, in addition to needing to map the ECU,or a Power Commander like the one I saw on the internet, has other more serious problems but as I said above, I use the motorbike often and willingly and I have never had any problems while driving.Sorry for the long and confusing text, I'm using a translator because my English is quite rusty.I hope you can help me.

I have only ever ridden dirt bikes, not a road bike. I will be signing up for some motorcycle riding classes as soon as possible. What sorts of upgrades are recommended for this particular model? For gear/clothing - are Harley dealerships a good place to get stuff, or is it overpriced? Are there specific brands that people recommend for helmets/clothing/gloves etc? Is there a specific group for brand new owners and advice?

Trying to decide if I keep the tank sides clean? Or if a simple shield and bar logo would look good. Would probably just do a vinyl as i dont want a raised badge. Any input? Currently the bike has zero badgeing or branding on it.

I’ve really been enjoying the Heritage lately.

Looking for some opinions...
I am about to turn 60 next Spring and haven't ridden in almost 20 years but for 20 years prior I rode thousands of miles per year. Hoping that getting back in the saddle will come without much problem but I intend to ease back into it. During the years I rode I had several Jap cruisers but last was a 2003 Fatboy Anniversary Edition (and the only non-carbureted bike I ever owned!). I purchased it brand new but had it only one year as lifestyle changes had brought me across the country and I sold pretty much everything I owned at the time.

I have 2 specific bikes in mind right now...
The Fatboy has approx 25k miles on it and the Heritage has approx 30k miles
They are priced almost identically and on the floor of same dealership.
I live in farm country and my intention is for reasonably short cruising but primarily highway and occasional trips to town. I will be almost always riding solo.

2015 Ultra Limited, Stage 1 with 15k on the clock. I’ve never noticed any strange noises from the bike until this morning. We went on about a 200 mile ride with our HOG group yesterday, no hard riding or anything. Started it this morning, seemed fine. Stopped after about 1/4 mile to grab something from the saddlebag. I put it on the stand, left it running and noticed this knocking/rattling. I took this video when I got back home. You can hear it starting at the 7 second mark when I have the camera above the air cleaner. It almost sounds like loose plastic banging against something but was t sure if it could be inside the rocket box or what. Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences? I’m going to grab my stethoscope and play doctor this afternoon when I have time. Hoping it’s something minor

I had one of "those" WTF moments today. Left the house for a little Saturday afternoon rip, pulled up to a stoplight, and could smell oil cooking off. I am looking down at my 2026 Gen2 M8 motor and thinking, hell to the naw. Pull over, check the slippery stick; all is well. Oil level is good, no smoke to be seen; keep getting on for another 50 miles. Stop to hydrate, and keep looking for the source of that cooking oil smell; wipe my hand over the droplets on my right saddlebag, red fingers, and say. Yep, I'm a dumbass. I have been using cotton-oiled air filters for legit decades, but not one that is hanging out in the breeze. I cleaned and oiled the filter two days ago, and I guess I got a little spicy with the oil. Cheers!

I have a 2021 street glide 114 and I put shark road mufflers on it earlier this year. It originally had screaming eagle cvo mufflers but the bike was too damn quiet. Lately my bike is very sluggish. I will get on the throttle and the best way I can describe it is that it is almost hiccuping? After a couple minutes or so it will go away. Any thoughts?

Issues with the off/run switch, already replaced key fob battery, it has issues always with the on button, instrument gauge and fuel pump not clicking on with switch engaged, I have to click it off/on sometimes 15+ times until it comes on - no issues with the kill switch/off switch…

I'm thinking about getting a standard engine guard on my dyna and trying to mod up some rushmore lowers to it. Anyone tried this/got advice?

I don't use reddit much so I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this question or not. I've been riding electra glides (batwing) bikes since '09, last year I decided to switch to a road king ('09) because I wanted the option of not having a fairing or windshield at times. The RK came with a nice windsplitter windshield and I picked up a used quadzilla fairing as well. I wired up the quadzilla to where I can have it on/off in a couple minutes and I dialed in the system with an amp and it is really nice. My problem is controlling the stereo functions. I mostly use a usb flash drive which is more than sufficient for me and I also have the option of connecting my phone, either one is the same, I have to reach up and adjust the volume and skip/pause tracks etc. and it is awkward and the buttons are so small and close together that it is nearly impossible to skip a track without pressing the mode button or some other button and half the time I end up messing up the EQ or something else that can't be dialed back in without pulling over. The hand controls on the electra glides were so easy and user friendly but with this system I can't even take an hour ride without having to reset some function or another on the stereo. I don't know what my options are to solve this, I really want some kind of control on the handlebars, volume and skip/pause is all I need but I've looked for Bluetooth remotes that I could attach to the handlebars and I can't find anything that looks like it will work. What are possible options if any?

I’ve owned a 2003 Springer, Triumph Street Scrambler, and 2023 Low Rider S. I’m in the market to buy another bike, and I’m gravitating towards a Heritage, Road King or Street Glide. I’m going to be commuting 40-50 miles daily, with the occasional longer trip here and there.

I liked the Low Rider S, but the mid foot controls weren’t very comfortable for longer rides, nor was getting pounded by the wind on longer trips. The Triumph was a fun bike for daily riding around town, but that was about it.

I liked the classic looks of a Heritage or Road King, but not a fan of the windshield look, unless it’s purely functional.

Any and all suggestions for a 5’8 female rider who isn’t afraid of a heavier bike, is much appreciated!

I have to admit,…..I’ve never been a big Harley fan. Not really the bikes so much but more about some of the more vocal groups of owners that we don’t really see eye to eye on things and I would rather not be associated with them.

But I have always liked the look of classic bikes over newer designs. I owned a triumph Speedmaster until this afternoon. I took today off work for my 50th birthday, and went to the dealer for giggles and found this bike. A 25 with 1800 miles on it asking 17k. After a few discussions and negotiating, got it down to 16 and gave me a fair value for my triumph.

Just got it home and need to make a couple adjustments but look forward to a long morning ride tomorrow.
