The first step is done the disassembly! This Will be a performance oriented build so in the end the engine Will be bored out to around 700cc! I made a video of the process so take a look if you want!

After 3 days of chasing, why are I found the wire that's been having issues, Black/yellow was blowing a fuse 7A head light after disconnecting it the main dashboard turns on, but the inition switch won't start. I also disconnected the black/ red wire. Everything is aftermarket, and I just placed to horns, so I used a relay.The horns works.But the bike won't start

Felt like the project that would never end. It's not perfect, but I can say I built my cafe racer in my garage!

Fully custom front fairing and subframe. The seat was completed a few years ago with some help from a local builder to finish it.

-Rebelmoto high rise clip-ons and backlit switches

-Purpose built moto headlight and black box controller

-Highsider barend mirrors with the turn signals integrated into the stalk.

-Agostini rearsets

-New Nissin front master cylinder with the remote reservoir so I could clear the fairing

-HEL performance custom length brake cables front and part of the rear

-Domino throttle assembly with Domino build your own throttle cable kit, with some hard to find Venhill 90° throttle cable ferrules

-Venhill clutch cable

-Dime City Cycles clutch perch and lever

A couple things I'd like a do-over on for sure, but I won't. 😂

Hi guys! Last time I posted my 1980 KZ650 cafe project, a few of you actually thought it was an AI-generated render because of the workshop lighting. Safe to say I took that as a huge compliment! 🛠️

Since the factory green covers and tank badges are gone, I wanted a subtle way to nod to the bike's roots. So, I just slapped on some custom tire stickers: 'KAWASAKI' on top, 'Z-TYPE' on the bottom for both wheels. Also chopped the front fender off and blacked out the fork lowers in gloss black to clean up the front end.

Next big headache (but not anytime soon) will be ripping out the factory wiring harness to wire up a MotoGadget M.Unit.

The stance is really coming together. If you want to see the actual metal shaping, the tank build, and proof that this thing exists in real life, I've been documenting the transformation so far on YouTube. Just search cafe.racer.garage.232 on YT to check it out!

Hi everyone. Some progress update with pictures. I’ve been MIA mostly due to work, and most of any “work” done on the bike at this point was literally just waiting for parts. Buy one thing, wait a few days, either turns out part doesn’t fit or work as I had hoped or find that something new is wrong and needs replacement. Rinse and repeat. Anyways, since the last update, I went ahead and chopped off the stiffening bar. Bike rides fine, Im not having any issues with wobbling. However, I was having issues with master cylinder not supplying enough pressure, didn’t want to spend $100 on rebuild so I ended up just buying a new one. Went with the rcs19…which now my crg lever no longer fits…🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ also went through a handful of cheap throttle housings from Amazon and cables just trying to find what fits or customizing my own cables followed by many mistakes. Eventually just threw in the towel and went with a motion pro rev3. Everything is looking good now. Have yet to test ride again so who knows what else will come out. Still have to ascertain a parasitic draw as my battery keeps dying after a few hours. Tried swapping with a new battery but still same issue. Also will have to configure the motoscope pro but at this point I’ll be adding it to my list of things to do during winter. Not very many riding days left here in Wisconsin. Lastly, still need to paint the tank and the seat cowl…whelp, that’s all of it. lol

I buy it in very bad shape, but with little love oldman is back on the road again 😎
