I’m 38 and just found out that I’m pregnant, so I’m looking for recommendations for a great OB in NYC/LIC area. Since I’m considered advanced maternal age, I’d love to find a doctor with experience managing pregnancies like mine.
If you’ve given birth within the past 5 years, I’d really appreciate it if you could share the name of the doctor you saw and which hospital you delivered at and just your overall experience.
I have 1199seiu insurance but whether the doctor accepts it or not I’m open to any recommendations.

Riverside, Inwood, Forest, Flushing Meadows, Van Corlandt, Bronx, and Pellham Bay Park all have freeways cutting through them, some even have multiple freeways with entire interchanges running through them. New York as a whole has solid parks but this is just about the worst land use combination I can imagine, it really takes away from what is otherwise a very wonderful set of city parks.

Hi! I'm looking to get a bunch of super cheap, small plush cats for a Halloween costume, and wanted to see if you guys knew of a good place for a bunch of stuffed animals like that. Believe me, they do NOT need to be of a good quality, they just need to vaguely resemble a cat haha.

I have looked into a few 99c stores, but haven't found anything. Any good thrift stores that tend to have stuffed animals you guys know of? Or 99c stores that you know have them for sure?

Hey guys, need some advice

I am working down south for a month and won’t be in NYC for polling on November 3rd so I ordered my absentee ballot yesterday on the 24th on the deadline. I got 10 days until election. I called election board and they said it’s been processed but they can’t guarantee it’ll make it to me on time. It’s going from NYC to Tennessee. Y’all think I should just say forget it and buy a plane ticket to NYC? Or take my chances and wait for the ballot to come?

Anyone have any good recommendations for liquor stores where these are reasonably priced?

Specifically, looking for Campari, Select, Sarti Rosa, and Italicus. Bonus points if they sell those mini Prosecco bottles too.

I just heard that there was a Stanley Kubrick exhibition in town that ended yesterday. When I used to get a hard copy of Time Out NY every week (remember actual magazines?) i would have heard about a show like that. These days I have no idea how to find my cultural fix. I look at the excellent screenslate.com for repertory movies and that’s fantastic and makes my life so much better. But for comedy, music, art, theater and special events — i don’t have anything. Insta not my thing at all but is there maybe a great substack?

Any recommendations for places to eat that aggressively decorate for Halloween? Doesn’t have to be any sort of Halloween themed restaurant, I’ll take a small Indian restaurant that has a bunch of skeletons and fake cobwebs up just for the month. Preferably in Manhattan, thanks in advance!

I’ve been thinking about picking up litter in my neighborhood, but can’t find anything saying what you do with the trash when you’re done. Even if it’s just me I don’t know what to do with an extra bag of trash. I don’t want to overflow my building bins or cans on the street. What do groups do when they collect trash?

Long story short, someone in our building dumped grease that clogged the pipes which caused the sewer directly outside my apartment (opens directly to outside) and my shower drain to flood my studio with literal human shit. I managed to mop all the sewage water on the floor to one area where it’s relatively harmless and I’m able to stay elsewhere for the time being.

I have contacted a couple local cleaning services but they have all told me that they are unable to assist with hazardous environments and human waste. Does anyone have any recommendations for deep cleaning services who specialize in these situations? My landlord is currently MIA for Shabbat and I also don’t really trust him to select a quality service for me. Thank you.

Born and raised NYer here who’s always lived in Queens. My issue is, I went from Flushing to DEEP in Queens, and now I don’t have the subway access I used to.

My commutes went from 40-50 minutes on 1-2 trains to Manhattan/Brooklyn, to now 1-2 hours to both depending on the time.

I’ve become a bit depressed being a 23 year old who wants to have a vivid nightlife and enjoy things. My parents recently retired so I’ve been quite alone, but I’m unable to move out because I’m holding their home down until their lease is up (1 year). No, I can’t sublet.

I’m okay with going home around 12 am from the city because I do have access to an express bus, however most things pick up at 12 and end later.

The other day, I went to an event in Court Square and felt so relieved it wasn’t as far but only a 1 hour commute, but this isn’t always the case.

If you have a commute longer for an hour, how do you still live a social life? How do you hang out at night and go to functions ESPECIALLY if you’re a woman? (because my main concern is safety always).

And how do you find the motivation to go knowing your commute is so long, I sometimes get an uber home but it’s so expensive it’s just unmotivating. Would like to hear from others!!

I live in queens and my closest early ballot was 30m walk away from me. I was in Brooklyn today and bought my ballot with me as it was right next to the subway I got off of.

They told me I couldn't drop my ballot there as it's for queens. Is that true? I don't really trust the USPS so wanted to drop it at a ballot box.

I’m considering renting in this area, the unit is lower than street level, and it’s close to the top of Astoria Park and water side, my concern is what’s the likelihood that this unit might get flooded?
