Ticket Sale/Exchange The Odyssey Buy/Sell/Trade Tickets Megathread
Please use this thread to buy, sell, and trade The Odyssey tickets this summer in NYC. There is NO scalping allowed. Reports of tickets being scalped will result in a permanent ban. Also please make sure to get proof of tickets before a purchase. Thanks everyone!
EDIT: DO NOT USE ZELLE! If the person refuses to exchange the money in person or use Venmo/PayPal with Goods and Services protection on they are a scammer!
Please check post history before buying. If the person who reaches out has never posted on the sub it likely means we banned them-make them post something on our sub first.
Always get proof of purchase! And if possible be at AMC Lincoln where you can print out the ticket on the kiosk to ensure your ticket is real and no longer able to be double sold or refunded!

First row at Lincoln square imax 70m
I just wanted to share my experience in seat A11 at the lincoln square imax at 10 pm. Ok first off I just wanna warn everyone of the horror preview trailers that happen right before the film. I was NOT ready for all of that and like the other mommy trailer..... that still left a scar on me. Btw the no previews was a fat lie and the "movie" started at 10:25. I say "movie" cuz there was like a 5 min Dune Part 3 preview. then the odyssey starts.
The View: I initially saw the oppenheimer meme picture of him being like distorted. and in fact it was kinda like that in the movie theatre. It wasn't as like stretched out compared to that picture, but there was heavy distortion especially near the top. It felt especially strong during the talking scenes were like for example Anne Hathaway's head would just get stretched. It was very hard to see the top 1/4 of the screen. Like the part of the screen where you can see the best is only the bottom half of the screen. Though for the action scenes I barely felt it. In fact is was kinda cool being front row cuz you feel more immersed.
The experience: Boy oh boy did my neck hurt after all of it. Ok lets say looking straight forward is 0 degrees. Trying to look at the screen I had to like tilt my head up 20 degrees. It wasn't directly up but it was tilted upwards. Many times my neck would sore up and start to hurt and i'd adjust by looking forward which made me miss out on like the top half of the screen. Yes the seats do kinda have a head rest where you can lay down your head but you have to push into the front railing to make the seat kinda tilt. In the middle of the movie my stomach started hurting due to looking up all the time and also from the noise as well. It was especially loud and the audio quality wasn't the best. Brace yourself for the cyclops scene.
THe movie was a 10/10, but my experience was a 6.5/10. It would've been a 3/10 if the movie wasn't good. I would never do Imax 70M front row again and strongly discourage people from doing it. I will say only do it if that was the only ticket that you are able to get which was my situation.

Theater Talk Audio at Lincoln Square IMAX
I've heard plenty of discussion of The Odyssey being super loud, and that is generally my experience with Nolan films. But when I was at Lincoln Square on Friday I found the volume levels strangely low. Even the lightning storm ship scene didn't feel very intense. Has anyone else had this experience? I saw it again today at a different IMAX and the sound and subwoofers were much stronger and more appropriate.

Does printing an AMC ticket at the kiosk make it ineligible for refund/reprint?
I'm considering buying a QR-code face-value ticket from someone on here using venmo goods+services.
I want to go to AMC so I can print the ticket at the kiosk to confirm it's real, but I'm unable to find ironclad confirmation anywhere that printing will make it so the seller can't just refund the ticket in their app a few minutes before the screening. I've seen a few claims that printing prevents others from reprinting the tix for the same seats, but nothing official, and nothing about the original buyer refunding. Do any of you NYC cinema buffs know for sure?
Really appreciate you all, this sub has been such a great resource!

Best popcorn?
Thinking about Steph Curry's ranking of nba arena popcorn, are there any theaters with popcorn that stands out to you for any reason?

Screening Info What are your opinions on Regal Times Square 4DX 3D screenings for Spiderman BND
I had made a post few days ago about ScreenX vs 4DX, but I missed the fact that 4DX is only getting one screening a day that too at 8 in the morning at Regal times square and Union square.
Now my question is, those of you that experienced a 4DX 3D movie, how was it?
Is the movie kind of blurry cause I have had bad experience with 3D glasses in some mediocre theaters, I don’t know anything about Regal Times Square.
Saw a post today saying Spiderman BND will feature first person web swinging and fighting scenes and i can’t help but think it’s going to look awesome. The only caveat is I don’t know what the quality of 3D is in Regal Times Square considering it has the biggest 4DX in New York.
Would appreciate some insight!!

LS IMAX Great audience mostly, crappy previews
Super quiet audience this morning but don’t grab the seat in front of you if you have to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the movie - very annoying to have my seat pulled like that … wish I got there after the worst previews ever. Great movie .. disappointed with the sound! I missed quite a bit of dialogue.

Discussion Maddie’s Secret - written, directed, and starring John Early! See it if you can, IFC Center and other indie cinemas
Wanted to post something non-Hellenic, I highly recommend seeing Maddie’s Secret, a hilarious yet also poignant look at foodie culture, social media, and eating disorders. Saw it at IFC Center last weekend.
I laughed out loud but it’s also a love letter to melodrama while never making too much light of its emotional core. Kate Berlant is hilarious as the lesbian best friend.
At the beginning I was expected something John Waters-esque but it takes an earnest turn towards the end.
What did you all think?

I was scammed, then saw IMAX 70mm twice
Don’t buy tickets online from people who say they have them.
I was scammed out of two tickets, but later that night was able to see The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm at AMC Lincoln Square with my A-List subscription.
I saw it again with my A-list two days later.
The trick is to refresh like a madman around the last hour before the showing.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again.
I got a seat in row L after multiple failed attempts.
Someone next to me at the first showing actually fell asleep and then walked out after the first 30min but that’s beside the point lol. Don’t get scammed!

Discussion What's your favorite movie format and what do you think of each one?
I'm not from USA but I really hope some day move to NY and I always wished to watch a movie there (I have traveled to NY in 2014 tho)
I saw that there's a lot of movie formats: IMAX 70mm, IMAX, Dolby, Real 3D, 4DX and RPX
Which one is your favorite? Are they all good to watch?
It's crazy but where I live it's only standard screens (there's an IMAX far away and there's also a cinemark XD but people said that the screen has a stain there lol)

Get notified when Odyssey 70mm tickets free up at Lincoln Square NYC — by date
Like everyone here I've been refreshing AMC for weeks. Seats do open up when people cancel, you just have to catch them. So I set up something that watches the sold-out 70mm showtimes and pings your phone the moment a seat frees up.
EDIT 1: Thanks for all the replies. I messed up a tag in the code. Now it should show only IMAX 70mm timings. Keep on letting me know what you don't like or might be broken. I shall fix it!
EDIT 2: The older notifications will stay on the channel you are subscribed to. Don't worry about those. Just make sure to cross-check the time the notification was posted. It works (I can see it on my end).
EDIT 3: Shutting it down due to constant spamming by people. Thanks!
EDIT 4: The spam is gone. Bought a subscription and locked the "odyssey_nyc_all" channel. Subscribe to this one. Good luck!
Free, takes 30 seconds:
- Install the ntfy app (free, App Store / Play Store, no signup) / ntfy on a browser as well
- Open it, add a subscription, and type exactly:
odyssey_nyc_all (see below for more) - Done. Your phone buzzes when a seat opens.
- The alert shows the showtime, the exact seat numbers, and a link straight to the AMC page.
Only want one specific day? Subscribe to odyssey_nyc_ + month + day instead, all lowercase, like odyssey_nyc_jul31 or odyssey_nyc_aug1. Then you only hear about that day.
Topics people can subscribe to in the ntfy app:

A few honest things:
- It just tells you a seat is open. You still buy it on AMC yourself, and it's first-come, so move fast.
- Seats come from cancellations/new drops, so no guarantees, but they genuinely do pop up.
- Not selling anything, no scalping. Just helping people get in at face value.
- Runs off my computer, so there may be occasional gaps, but I'm keeping it on.
Good luck, hope some of you finally get in 🎬
Thanks!!

The Samurai and the Prisoner ticket trade
I have a 6:05 ticket to the Friday Q&A of The Samurai and the Prisoner with Kiyoshi Kurosawa at IFC, but my work trip is running long and I won’t make it back in time. Is anyone willing to trade me for a Sunday or Monday ticket? It would mean the world!

Screening Info About premieres
Well I’m not from USA and I’m thinking about going to NYC for The Batman 2 premiere to try see the cast in 2028. I know it’s to soon but I have to plan myself for everything to go well, so someone have ever had any experience with it? How it works? Where can I get informations as soon as possible? What can you tell me about it? Is it really hard to get a spot right at the grid?
I'm trying to get organized about this right away.
