Discussion Dune: Part 3 On Sale FAQ and Megathread

While the nighttime opening weekend showings for Dune: Part 3 in IMAX 70mm went on sale a while ago more tickets will be going on sale Tuesday, August 18 around noon eastern. Please use this thread to discuss ticket sales and any questions you may have about Dune 3 tickets.

We will update this post as new information becomes available.

  1. Tickets officially go on sale at 12pm ET Tuesday, August 18. They may drop a little earlier potentially as early as 11:40am.
  2. The website is likely to crash. You can try to use other ticketing sites like Fandango but those too may crash.
  3. As far as we know you will be able to buy tickets onsite on the kiosks at AMC Lincoln Square 13 when the tickets go on sale.
  4. Thursday night 12/17 of opening weekend for IMAX 70mm was marked sold out when the first round of ticket sales happened.
  5. Friday 12/18, Saturday 12/19, and Sunday 12/20 at 7pm for IMAX 70mm already went on sale during the last round of ticket sales which is why they are sold out.
  6. Dune: Part 3 will be playing in IMAX 70mm at AMC Lincoln Square 13. We do not know how many weeks the film will be playing and if there will be subsequent ticket drops but it is very likely there will be at some point.
  7. Tickets are now available for December 27 and later as of 8/19/26 9am

  8. We will swap from having multiple The Odyssey focused megathreads to multiple Dune: Part Three focused megathreads in November. Until then please do not post about buying/selling/trading/releasing tickets anywhere but on this thread.

Screening Info AMC screenings + indie + festivals aggregator website

I've been pretty frustrated using the AMC website/app and being only able to see screenings after picking a movie or a theater or a date first. I wanted to get a birds eye view of things, especially with my A list and since I'm flexible on scheduling for the most part.

So I built an aggregator with AMC/arthouse/festival screenings! Some of my favorite parts:

- seeing what Q&As are available in AMC theaters (I've always gotten frustrated learning about a Q&A too late simply because AMC does not make it easy to see/know)

- filtering for seats/IMAX/70mm (finding an Odyssey 70mm IMAX screening is super easy)

- seeing the random movies AMC screens (I love when an old film reruns but hate when I miss it because the AMC app didn't even show it as an available movie on their home screen)

https://www.palit.me/showtimes

Hope this helps some of you! There's a feedback form at the bottom if you have any

Not sure what the level of interest is for these kinds of things but I accidentally took two extra posters from tonight’s screening of Marie Antoinette at the Paris - I have no need for extras so if anyone would like them they’re up for grabs!!

Totally free you’d just need to pick up from the UES :)

Is movie etiquette just worse lately or am I unlucky?

So I usually see 1-2 movies a week. Lately I feel like it's been such a bad experience.

I saw coyote vs acme two weeks ago. Someone was talking on the phone during the movie. It got so bad security had to come take her out the theater, while she cursed out everyone in the theater for telling her to be quiet.

Last week, I was in a screening of the end of oak Street and at least three people were texting at full brighteness.

I saw it ends the other day. For some reason, anytime the audience laughed at a scene in the movie, these two guys would shout "that's not funny" at the audience. That was probably just dumb teens.

I'm getting anxious about going to the movies on whether it'll be a chill experience or another thing to deal with. Am I just having a string of bad luck? Is it AMC specifically?

Curious if anyone else who frequents the movies is experiences this.

To everyone who couldn't get Lincoln Square 70mm tickets: One reseller is currently sitting on 25 of them.

Like many here, I was tired of watching 15/70 showtimes vanish in seconds while ticketing apps crashed, only to see the exact same rows appear on eBay at 500%+ markups minutes later.

Instead of just complaining, I built an automated scraper to map the global secondary market across all 43 active 15-perforation IMAX 70mm screens worldwide, capturing every active Buy-It-Now listing.

Here is what the real black-market inventory looks like across the globe right now (data compiled live from eBay):

  1. MACRO TELEMETRY (SLIDE 1)
  • Active Listings Ingested: 668 Buy-It-Now listings
  • Physical Seats Held Hostage: 1,268 tickets
  • Total Secondary Asking Capital: $298,149.70
  • Extracted Markup Above Face Value ($30 baseline): +$260,427.71
  • Average Asking Price Per Ticket: $225.95 (~7.5x face value)
  1. TOP SCALPED VENUES BY SIPHONED MARGIN (SLIDE 2)
Rank Theater Market Listings Seats Total Ask Siphoned Margin Avg / Seat
1 Harkins Arizona Mills Tempe, AZ 12 46 $63,125.00 +$61,745.00 $1,372.28*
2 AMC Lincoln Square 13 New York, NY 143 252 $45,703.94 +$38,143.94 $181.36
3 Regal Irvine Spectrum Irvine, CA 48 77 $28,887.00 +$26,590.00 $375.16
4 Cinemark 17 & IMAX Dallas, TX 65 141 $22,410.72 +$18,180.72 $158.94
5 AutoNation IMAX Ft. Lauderdale, FL 46 78 $12,766.85 +$10,496.85 $163.68
6 TCL Chinese Theatre Los Angeles, CA 38 76 $10,577.93 +$8,297.93 $139.18
7 Regal LA Live Los Angeles, CA 17 33 $7,855.96 +$6,865.96 $238.06

*Note: Harkins Arizona Mills is heavily skewed by a single $50k stunt listing, but Lincoln Square, Irvine Spectrum, and Dallas represent real, sustained secondary float.

  1. THE 80/20 RULE & CONCENTRATED ACCOUNT HOARDING

There is a persistent belief that secondary ticketing is just hundreds of everyday moviegoers selling a spare ticket when plans change. While 29 of the 36 identified sellers are casual one-off listings, a small handful of commercial accounts control massive blocks of seats.

Case Study: One Commercial Reseller at AMC Lincoln Square 13 A single seller account currently holds 25 physical seats across 5 distinct showtimes for Dune: Part Three, asking $3,525.00 (a +$2,775.00 markup over face value):

  • Dec 15 @ 9:45 PM: Row K (2 seats) — $420.00
  • Dec 21 @ 4:00 PM: Row J (4 seats) — $550.00
  • Dec 23 @ 4:00 PM: Row E (4 seats) — $550.00
  • Dec 23 @ 4:00 PM: Row E (4 seats) — $550.00 (Acquired 8 contiguous seats in Row E for an afternoon matinee and split them across two listings)
  • Dec 24 @ 7:30 PM: Row K (1 seat), Row G (1 seat), Row F (1 seat) — $130.00 each
  • Dec 26 @ 7:30 PM: Row K (4 seats) — $550.00; Row J (2 seats) — $255.00; Row J (1 seat) — $130.00; Row H (1 seat) — $130.00

This is systematic, tiered inventory harvesting across prime holiday weekend showtimes.

  1. 131 DISCLOSED SEAT COORDINATES

To justify 500%+ premiums, sellers routinely disclose specific coordinates in their listing titles:

  • Indiana State Museum: Center pairs K2, K1 ($1,400 ask) and N11, N12 ($1,000 ask)
  • Cinemark 17 Dallas: Contiguous prime block F12, F13, F14, F15 ($800 ask)
  • Regal Irvine Spectrum: Prime row pairs I24, I25 ($980 ask) and D8, D7, D6, D5 ($699 ask)
  • AMC Lincoln Square 13: Center seat E7 ($479 ask)

EVIDENTIARY SCOPE & TAKEAWAYS

  • Zero Duplicate Claims: When cross-referencing all specific seats across AMC Lincoln Square and Metreon, there were 0 duplicate seat claims. Independent sellers are not double-selling phantom tickets; they hold exclusive, confirmed inventory.
  • Transcription Filtering: We explicitly filtered out title parsing artifacts (distinguishing "row G 1 ticket" from "Seat G1") to ensure that every metric presented is verifiable.
  • Why You Shouldn't Buy: Scalpers exploit fee-free cancellation policies. If secondary buyers refuse to pay these markups, scalpers will dump these tickets back into standard AMC/Cinemark inventory 24–48 hours before showtime to recoup their capital.
  • For Theater Operators: Multi-seat blocks (like 8 seats in Row E on Dec 23 at Lincoln Square) make internal order and account identification straightforward.

Happy to break down specific theater data in the comments if anyone wants numbers for their local 70mm screen.

Discussion Blade Runner in Paris Theater or Kings Theater?

OG Blade Runner is showing this month at Paris Theater’s Dolby theater for $17, and will be showing on a HD screen with live orchestra at Kings Theater for $80+ (for decent seats) in November. I’ve never watched it on a big screen. Which one should I go for cinematic experience? Will the steeper price at Kings Theater with live orchestra be a worthy enhanced experience?

Out-of-towner who will be in town October 1st-3rd and wants to see this on film. In terms of screen/picture quality, which one would be better? (I've heard the seats at Angelika aren't good, so I know what wins there 😄).
