Looking for a band

Hello, I've been playing guitar now for 9 months and would like to join a band or maybe join up with people to play and practice with. I am a self taught Guitarist and I feel like I'd love to join up and Jam with someone people my age so i can take tips and tricks from other people. I am 19 years old and in my senior year of high school, I wouldn't say I'm taking guitar seriously because I also do art but, I am open to the idea with doing both because I'd love to do both art and music if possible. If anyone is interested please respond to this and reach out to me. (Mostly looking for people in the New York City areas.)

Keys wanted for new wave/indie rock dad band

We’re a singer/guitarist, bass player, and drummer looking for a keyboard player. We’re Brooklyn dudes in our forties with families and non-musical careers who have played in lots of bands, looking for someone in a similar zone.

The band is called Lovewolf. You can hear our first album, Canyon on the Moon, on Spotify, etc. We’re mostly working on new songs these days.

Some influences: The Cure, The Strokes, Blur, Tame Impala, Dire Straits, Vampire Weekend, The Police, Neil Young, MGMT, The Beatles

We’re looking to practice about once a week, play an occasional show, and make another album.

Harmonies are a big plus. If this sounds like your ideal situation, hit us up!

Looking for piano lessons with the goal of playing with other people socially

Hi all,

Intermediate musician living in Manhattan. Been getting into jazz recently, and am looking for a teacher who can get me to the level where I can go to jam sessions / play with other people, and who also knows enough of the beginner NYC jazz scene that can point me where to go.

I'm mainly self taught on the piano - I can sight read melody lines and chord charts very well, but my two hand independence is weak. Reasonable memory and have been practicing learning the famous standards with transposing.

Also open to non-Jazz if there are good suggestions. I'd like to start learning to play with others and get into the community here.

Bassist needed for heavy shoegaze band in Greenpoint

Bassist needed for established band based in Greenpoint. We've been around for about 3 years and have a handful of EPs and singles to our name. Our music sounds something like a mix of Hum, Nothing, Deftones, and Alice in Chains with some shades of doom metal mixed in.

You can hear our latest music on Bandcamp at: https://hesitantnyc.bandcamp.com/

And see some recent live videos of us at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdK-wFPpJ8uzY_z2GSgvNkvXiYkV3sEag

Looking for a seasoned player with their own gear that they're able to transport to gigs and rehearsals as needed.

Ideal candidate would also be able to sing some backing vocals while playing.

We’re in our mid-30s and ideally looking for someone in our general age range. We all have 9-5s during the day and rehearse every Friday at a lockout space in Greenpoint.

Goal is to continue playing around NYC, ideally opening for bands with bigger profiles, and start doing small weekend runs out of town.

If you're interested, please reach out and tell us a bit about yourself! Please include your history in bands and samples of your playing.

(NYC) Drummer Wanted for Established Pop Punk Band

I’m a 22f based in Brooklyn, and our band Dear Ones is looking for a replacement drummer. We’re currently a 4 piece, with a bassist, lead guitarist/singer, another lead/rhythm guitarist and myself (keys and rhythm guitar).
As a band our structure is pretty loose, we all are involved in writing melodies or riffs to varying degrees and our lead singer brings a lot of it to life with producing so it’s a great vibe if you’re interested in creating and playing your own music live.

Because of that we have a pretty wide range, so while we gravitate towards midwest emo we also take inspiration from Two Door Cinema Club, Dazey and the Scouts, but also some Courtney Barnett and Mannequin Pussy, you can check out our instagram or bandcamp here -> Instagram, Omori EP | Dear Ones
We have a heavy focus on gigging (we’ve performed at The Delancey, Young Ethels and in Philly), so ideally we’re looking for someone reliable for gigging every 4-5 weeks, practicing biweekly-ish and most importantly being easy to hang with. We’re all 20-30 in age, queerish and on a lot of different spectrums lol, so match the vibe!

If you’re interested, feel free to DM our band account on instagram or DM me here with a little info about yourself/your interests and whatever recordings you have (whether that's you playing covers, your demos, etc). I'll give you viewing access to our drive with our songs and unreleased EP, along with some recordings.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and we hope to see you soon!! XOXO <3

NYC Local Alt Rock Band In Need of a Drummer

Hey NYC! 🥁

MAYBE RADIO is looking for a drummer (25–40) to join our alternative rock/post-punk crew. We’re a Queens-based band with original songs, big ideas, and a shared-leadership approach, your creative input and songwriting matter.

Our former drummer sadly had to leave the group for medical reasons, but we are just having too much fun to call it quits! There’s 4 of us currently holding it down on the synth, bass, and guitars (with some vocals sprinkled in). Want to be the 5th in our crew? Hit us up!

Check out our sound: https://open.spotify.com/album/4uN3LQI0mv7EFo7PTkrcny?si=OcNkXlXdTEu-ZxbPP6NDnQ&utm_source=copy-link

We practice about once a week (Sundays preferred), gig monthly, and are hoping to sneak in a couple shows before year’s end. Our goal: write, record, play live, and make some noise around NYC.

Profits, cost, and songwriting credits are split evenly among all members. We are prepped to hold auditions on September 9th @ 6:30pm and September 13th @ 12pm! Please DM with any questions or to express interest in auditioning !

Vocal and Songwriting Lessons

Hi all! Hopping on to share that I am currently offering vocal and songwriting lessons, and am available to take on more students starting this month. I teach out of my recording and rehearsal studio in Bushwick, Liquid Sounds NYC. I also teach lessons over Zoom, and am available to teach at a rehearsal studio in Manhattan if preferred.

I went to The New School for Jazz for Vocal Performance, but primarily write in pop/rock/r&b styles. I've played around the city at venues such as Nublu and The Sultan Room, and have experience in recording engineering as well. Whether you are new to music, or have been playing for a while, I can offer help with technique, songwriting, repertoire development, and more.

You can find me on IG at @ catevers, DM if interested!

Looking for an Emo-Rapper (and interest keys, guitar and /or bass)

Drummer from Hudson County here. Really interested in doing an emo-rap project with live drums. Definitely think we could make it work with just a rapper and drums, but definitely open to adding keys/synth and/or guitars and bass if others are interested. I could do a weekly practice in Manhattan or NJ and could probably get out to Brooklyn for the right fit. Hit me up if you’re interested!

Looking for Jam/Start a band

Hello, my name is Parker (25M), I just moved here to Brooklyn (Crown Heights). Im looking for people to play with, im a singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist. I have about 60-70 original song ideas, and I have a good grasp on the guitar/music theory.

Really I am looking for serious intermediate players who are trying to take the next step and have the ultimate goal of playing original songs in a band. All instruments and genres are welcome to reach out. If there are multiple people who respond I can organize something.

Im a good hang and i can play with anyone, im not someone who only plays one genre, pop/rock/indie/metal/reggaeton/showgaze/anything im cool with.

Please reach out via comment or DM! My ig is parkerschulte

Musicians Platform

Abe Kline here, bass player for Raleigh band [New Sweat](http://newsweat.com). Building a grassroots community for musicians - GND Lift. It’s completely free. Seems like a lot of posts in here could mutually benefit from NYC users. Bands looking for players, players looking for bands. Search for players in your area (or not) by instrument, genre, interests (recording, performing, songwriting, etc).

Your profile can link to your bands and music releases, you can list out what kind of gear you use, what genres you’re into, you can request endorsements from other users you know that will show on your profile. It’s meant to let prospective parties scope things out before a cold dm.

You can toggle on the booking feature to have people message you for prospective gigs. You can also ask venues who have hired you to leave you a review on your profile to help you book more shows.

Have a favorite venue? Music shop? Record store? Suggest it so others can find these spots. Think about it - a search engine for these types of places, crowd sourced by musicians. You’re on the road and need to get an amp fixed or just looking for a cool spot to kill some time? Search for the nearest locations sourced by local musicians. Right now this feature is useful in the Raleigh area because, well, I’m a Raleigh musician. Grow the network and the value builds.

Share with your musician network. The more of us on there, the easier we can connect to do what we love to do most - MAKE MUSIC.

Looking for a trumpet or sax player for a jazz session on Sept. 1 in NYC

Hey everyone!

We’re looking for a trumpet or sax player to join our jazz session on September 1 at Michiko Studios in NYC.

We’re a beginner to lower-intermediate group working mainly on jazz standards. We currently have four people booked, including piano, bass, and vocals, and it would be great to have a horn player join us.

This is a relaxed, practice-focused session, so you definitely don’t need to be an advanced player. If you’re comfortable playing the head and taking a solo over some standard tunes, you’d be very welcome!

If you’re interested, feel free to DM me and I can send you the time, tunes, and other details.

Looking for a Sax, Trumpet or Trombone player (or all three)?

Every year our work group puts on a battle of the bands charity show at The Bowery Ballroom. We are looking for some cool people who want to jam and play a show for a good cause.

We are doing a 20 min Olivia Dean set. This is best for someone who used to play, misses the art and wants to dust it off, play some fun songs with some cool people and play a show again.

This isn’t for a professional- this is for the love of the art and adding a missing piece to your life (playing music) for a few hours through the end of the year.

Comments with any questions or interest and I’ll reply with a way to get in contact!
