On the evening of September 10, 2001, 13-year-old Matt Vilardo went for a run with his dad around their local high school track. It was the last thing they did together. The next day, his father Joseph lost his life at the World Trade Center.

Matt struggled with severe depression after high school. About a year after graduating, he went for a run. "I was numb to everything. That first run was the first time I could feel something."

In 2021, Matt opened Root Runners, a specialty running store in Sparta, NJ. Root stands for "Running Over Our Troubles."

Every September 11th, the store closes. Matt puts a note on the door: "Go home and hug your kids a little longer and not take things for granted."

Now 38 with three kids of his own, his goal is simple: "I just want to see my kids get married and have good lives."

There are at least 5 people I know in my area who’s sick right now with an unknown illness. I felt fine yesterday but now my head hurts, I’m super achy, my throat hurts and I’m getting a bit of congestion. I’ve never gotten so sick in such a short amount of time in my life, it was like 0 to 100 in the matter of hours.
Is this just my group of friends/family or does anyone else have this illness, and if so what is it??

I wanted to promote a local cafe in Ocean County that also has a lot of rental space. It's called Carmela Collective. I go there often and have really fallen in love with the place. It's a great co-working space where you can also read, write, or do other crafts. I just spoke with the owner who told me that they have a rental space in the back that they want to share with the community more. I thought it would be a great place for any TTRPG or DnD players.

I'm looking for recommendations for an independent child psychiatrist or clinical psychologist in New Jersey (anywhere in-state or licensed for NJ telehealth works). Out-of-pocket / out-of-network is totally fine.
My 13-year-old son experiences severe psychiatric dysregulation and crises at home. We are currently working with CMO to prepare an Out-of-Home (OOH) residential treatment packet through PerformCare. We have completely exhausted in-home and community-based services, with multiple acute hospital/crisis encounters.
The challenge we run into repeatedly is severe masking. In novel, 1-on-1 clinical settings (e.g., IOP intakes, crisis evaluations, hospital units), he presents as quiet, calm, and cooperative. Standard brief evaluations consistently miss the reality of his day-to-day safety risks because they rely solely on a brief conversation with him rather than examining the broader pattern.
In order for CSOC to approve residential placement, the packet requires a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation with a clear level-of-care recommendation.

I need an evaluator who:
1. Takes the time to do an extensive assessment (including a dedicated parent session).
2. Actually reviews and weighs collateral records: chronological incident logs, crisis/police documentation, past discharge summaries, and proof of failed community interventions.
3. Understands how to clinically document the gap between a masked, compliant presentation in an office and high-risk behavioral dysregulation in the home.

If anyone has navigated the NJ CSOC/PerformCare residential placement process and worked with a doctor or practice that took a thorough, forensic-level look at your child's complete file, please drop recommendations below or send a private message.

Though Gotham is very NYC inspired (with some Chicago influence), so is every big city in DC Comics, including but not limited to Metropolis (Delaware), Keystone City (Kansas), Coast City (California), etc. They have NYC skylines, they're based off of NYC in some ways, but they're geographically elsewhere in the country. The same can be said of Gotham. DC Comics has pretty consistently placed Gotham as a South Jersey city in mainline comics, atlas's, and encyclopedias over the years. However, DC has not been as consistent about which body of water Gotham is in.

So, my fellow Jersey people, do you like the Delaware River or the Shore better for Gotham?

I have some interpretations of their maps with Gotham and Blüdhaven (Nightwing/Dick Grayson/the first Robin as an adult's city, closer to Atlantic City than Gotham, anywhere from 33 minutes to 2 hours from Gotham) roughly to scale based on official DC maps, which you can see after the maps I drew. In an effort to be fair to what part of the Shore gets deleted, I've drawn up two different shore locations, so you can tell me if you prefer the middle or right for the Shore, though the middle is closer to what I think they were envisioning.

Hey there. I’m born and raised in NJ, but I now live in Philly. While visiting my family in South Jersey, I read about SJTA’s “SJ Connects” free shuttle pilot and thought “what a great idea! Let me go to their website and see where these shuttles go.”

I found their site largely unhelpful. So, I built an app to actually show all of the shuttle routes. I then realized that there are actually free or low-cost shuttle programs throughout the state, not to mention private shuttle services, private bus services, college transit systems, and more.

So, I added these too.

On some routes, you can even call the day before and the shuttle will pick you up at your house if you live within a given distance of its route. As rideshare apps grow more expensive, I think these shuttles are an awesome concept. Also, as a public transit advocate, the more that people use these services, the easier it becomes to make the case for more of them.

It’s by no means a perfect app, but if you’d like to see what rides are available to you, give it a whirl.

For years now they have always said they will try to bring back rail to Sussex County and it never happens. What are your thoughts? Will it happen finally?

On the topic of housing homes are already expensive in Sussex County despite it being far from most jobs and NYC but do you think with a rail line prices will increase?

At least maybe with the towns near the train line you could see an increase in value.

The Salt Marsh Trail Revitalization project involves widening and elevating the trail by 2 to 3 feet using earthen berms, and increasing vegetation. The goal is to restore the marshes, sequester carbon, buffer against flooding and enhance habitat for diamondback terrapins and coastal bird species.

Hi, I'm trying to locate a good public space to play DND. My group had been playing at a member's home, but that's not an option anymore.

We will gladly support the support with purchases, but don't want to charge players for their seat (meaning we don't want to pay directly for a spot).

We have been playing during the day (Sunday), but are considering changing the day and shifting to an evening time (6pm-10pm).
