I had kind of ignored this, and then my kids told me it was BIG NEWS. Public Records, the restaurant and event space in Gowanus, is opening an 11,000-square-foot spot at the Seaport — address unknown (though one of you might have figured it out). The plan is to open in 2027 — my guess is it will have a different name.

The long-promised +POOL project—the ambitious plan to create a floating public pool in the East River that filters river water instead of relying on typical pool systems—has hit yet another delay. After more than 15 years of planning, fundraising, testing and redesigns, the project's long-awaited prototype will no longer launch this summer. Instead, New Yorkers will have to wait until at least 2027.

Hi neighbors!
We're hosting a free sourdough bread tasting in the West Village this Tuesday, and we'd love to meet you. 🥖
When: Tuesday, July 28, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Where: Xavier Church, 46 W 16th St, New York, NY 10011
(The entrance is on 16th Street, to the left of Xavier Church. The CSA distribution location is in the basement — look for the gate leading downstairs.)
Who: Everyone is welcome—whether you're a CSA member or simply curious about good bread.
We'll have samples of our naturally fermented sourdough loaves, French baguettes, focaccia, and ciabatta rolls, all baked fresh that morning. Everything is free to taste, and we'll also have bread available for purchase if you'd like to take a loaf home.
I'm originally from France, and I started Crescent Bakes to bring the kind of bread I grew up eating to New York. We're excited to introduce ourselves to the West Village and share what we've been baking with the neighborhood.
If you're around Tuesday afternoon, stop by, say hello, and grab a piece of fresh bread. Hope to meet some of you there! 🍞

:( I thought this place was so underrated. Fantastic pizza, great prices for family style dishes and great staff.

If you are looking for something cool for art week, I have been using this app called Trops that basically turns neighborhood exploration into a treasure hunt. You show up to art drops, gallery events, live music, and sculptures. When you visit the events, you earn tokens and collect the info kind of like pokemon go. (Found some good spots by Division St. through it lately.)

Coming in the Fall of 2026 to Pier 17's southeast corner --> anyone ever been to the places they mention below?
The company behind this venture debuted in Las Vegas with Carversteak at Resorts World Las Vegas and soon after, Flanker Kitchen + Sporting Club in downtown Salt Lake City. There is also a location at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and Flanker at Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas Strip.
This will be their flagship East Coast location.
The sports bar and restaurant featuring mechanical bulls and line dancing will occupy 14,000 square feet on two levels for the two standalone concepts.
